CLOUT STREET: Republican U.S. Rep. Mark Kirk, who has highly publicized his position as a Naval Reserve intelligence officer in his bid for the U.S. Senate, has acknowledged he erroneously boasted he was named Intelligence Officer of the Year more than a decade ago.
In a posting on his campaign’s blog, Kirk said he recently reviewed his records and biography and made the change late this week, though he apparently made the changes amid questions from the press.
“I found that an award listed in my official biography was misidentified as ‘Intelligence Officer of the Year,’ Kirk said on the blog posting.
For years, Kirk has said he was named intelligence officer of the year for his role in the U.S. Navy’s actions during the war in Kosovo, known as Operation Allied Force.
When he first ran for Congress, he submitted a resume to the Tribune stating among his military decorations that he had earned the honor of intelligence officer of the year.
Commander Danny Hernandez, a Navy spokesman, said Thursday the individual 1999 Naval Reserve Intelligence Officer of the Year was given to another reservist and not to Kirk. He said, however, the intelligence community gives out unit awards at the local and regional levels.

I've been claiming Blago would attempt this on this blog since the man fell into trouble, (50 plus posts) and I'm here to tell all again "that everyone's throwing this trial off to the side as if it's some foregone conclusion as to what's going to occur."
Now Blagojevich is looking to subpoena Obama to testify as to whether or not he was in on the "seat sale" and this is going to bring out all kinds of nasty stuff that Obama and his psychotic defenders not gonna wanna hear.
They're "thick as thieves" these two Illinois bums, but the Obama spin machine has made the public think Obama is "above it all", when he's neck deep in the slime bucket just like the rest of them.
He's been able to keep them all at bay with bribes through the Porkulus payoff and I'd bet my mother's grave site on it I'm so absolutely sure of it..
Furthermore, the government will try and keep him from being part of the trial, but Blago's gonna take him down one way or another once he sees "for sure" that he's going to prison.
He's being careful now because he's delusional enough to believe that he still has a chance in politics, but as he sees that's impossible, he's going to take some people with him.
And you can bet Obama will be the prize that will get him back in the good graces of the people and back into the "statehouse"... or perhaps even the White House, if the info is sweet enough to take down the administration and the Chicago Machine that it represents down in DC.
An action of which is the only way he can "trump the politicos in Springfield who hate him with a passion" both working and hoping to see him sent away for a while in order to keep him quiet about all the information he can provide about graft within the democratic party.
And we know he's sitting on the last egg of the golden goose. He may be nutty but he "ain't stupid" as he was once considered the top dem to run for president and he's still stewing that the Halfrican Boy wonder stole his thunder.
Mark my words, he's just holding on until he knows "he's done as a democrat forever", which again Americans like you and I already know, but he doesn't, because he's obviously as I've mentioned over and over "somewhat delusional", as we see from his continuous tries to stay in the public arena .. Chicago Breaking News: "Lawyers for former Gov. Rod Blagojevich today asked a federal judge for permission to subpoena President Barack Obama to testify at Blagojevich's upcoming trial.
Blagojevich is charged with using his office to enrich himself and close associates, including allegations he tried to sell the U.S. Senate seat that Obama vacated in 2008 with his election to the White House.
Blagojevich's lawyers have previously suggested they might try to question the president.
'President Obama has direct knowledge to allegations made in the indictment,' the defense said in its filing. 'In addition, President Obama's public statements contradict other witness statements.'
The defense said it still has not received notes from FBI interviews of Obama even though it first sought that material in December.
Blagojevich's lawyers contend that some of Obama's public remarks that no representatives of his had any stake in any alleged deals Blagojevich had over the senate seat has been contradicted by some witnesses in interviews with the FBI and federal prosecutors. That allegedly contradictory information has been blacked out of the new filing, though the defense asked in a footnote that the entire filing be unsealed.
The filing said that only Blagojevich - who is expected to testify in his own defense - and the president can corroborate some of Blagojevich's claims that there was no conspiracy to sell the seat.
'President Obama is the only one who can say if emissaries were sent on his behalf, who those emissaries were, and what, if anything, those emissaries were instructed to do on his behalf,' the motion states."

UPDATED:KMOX.com: "Washington Park, Ill. (KMOX) -- Police in the Metro-East are searching for one of two men believed to have shot and killed Washington Park Mayor John Thornton.
Police were called to the scene of a car wreck around 6:00 a.m. in 47-hundred block of Caseyville Avenue. That's when officers found Mayor John Thornton in his vehicle.
He had been shot twice in the chest at close range while he sat in his car.
Thornton was transported to Kenneth Hall Hospital in East St. Louis, but was pronounced dead on arrival shortly after six.
Witnesses to the shooting, report two suspects were involved. Police do have a person of interest in custody.
Around 7 this morning officers tracked down a red Impala, believed to be used in the shooting, parked in front of the Rossevelt Housing project in East St. Louis.
Police tells KMOX, the mayor had just gotten off work at the Metro East Levee District and was in his car with one of the suspects.
At this point details get sketchy. Police say another person approached the vehicle and the mayor was shot.
Both men then got into the red impala and drove off. Police continue their hunt for the other suspect. The Illinois State Police are investigating the incident."

How unbelievable is this, unless of course you've been to or been through East St Louis, which is actually in the "once" great state of Illinois, which now and forever more will be famously known for delivering America it's worst president and biggest fraud in politics in our entire 235 some years.
Anyhow, quick story if your interested ;>) about me and East St Louis: when I was a teen I briefly lived in St Louis County living with my father after my parents became divorced, and we (me and my young and then dumb buddies) used to go across the border into East St Louis as white bread as we were, and would pull up to these "drive thru liquor stores" I sh** you not they had there in those days, at least in 1979 they did, and illegally buy our booze.

And strangely, the first guy I did this with as a young kid in Parkway West High School which at the time was the best high school in America and was featured on 60 minutes for that reason was a big deal around those parts them days and one person you would have thought wouldn't need to buy illegally 20 miles away but he did..
It was August Busch IVth, who was one of my loosely connected friends back then in 79-80, and yea, that's the Anheauser Busch, Busch Gardens etc family (company was actually sold not too long ago to a foreign entity nonetheless) who lived right down the road from myself and my father, who lived with his new wife and step daughter/sister, who himself was the CEO of PET incorporated in those days. I was there for my freshman and sophomore years of high school, 15 and just 16, and we were good time partying friends, and while not really troublemakers at all, when it did arise, his background along with some of the other kids with fathers known in the area usually enabled the easy cover up all that kind of stuff, but not so for the "not so rich and famous" friends of his, like me, as my dad didn't go for that "I'll get you out of everything" mentality AT ALL. This reminds me of a story when I was in college, a buddy of mine,
my best friend, name was Bob, calls me up one night at like midnight and says to me "I
got some dough this weekend lets go to the "Candy Club" downtown and check it out man" which was an
olden days stripper joynt here on Rush Street, and this is like back in 1985, sophomore summer college days..

go inside and the usual crap that goes on in these places is goin' on,
and in a little dirtier form than these so called "gentleman's clubs" are
like today, they're a click up from Hooter's but not the Mustang ranch,
alright? Well they used to be like the Mustang ranch here, just not advertising the full menu if you know what I mean...
So anyhow I turn down the offerings as I don't pay for that,
never did, never will. But my dumb and horny buddy wasn't as lucky with the ladies took the bait and
ended up getting screwed alright, out of about $500 on his credit card for what
Slick Willie was getting for nuttin' under his desk in the oral office...(impeachment aside, didn't mean
nothing to him or his supporters)

now.... we made a helluva scene on the way out the door kicking over chairs and such, and might of
ended up dead in the back alley if we couldn't run as fast as we did once we got out the door.

we're halfway home and Bob's all pissed off and I'm laughing at him, it's like 3 am and we're winging down the Kennedy headed back to "the
burbs" and this idiot THEN tells me the credit card was his dad's business

24 hours later and we still don't know who the governor race winners are on either side because they're so close. Lieutenant governor race is still open on the republican side as well with Jason Plummer leading Matt Murphy by 5000 some votes.
Like I said here and to friends and family last night, proof every vote counts, even in crooked Illinois for a primary once in a while. My guy Kirk Dillard is losing by only 508 votes, and it would be 10 more if the people I talked to on my block didn't vote. Between the voter apathy and republican fervor the lib gap was closed due to the embarrassingly low turnout. Less than 30%.
Talk about ripe for fraud. We'll be watching this closely for sure.

First let me say I'm ashamed as an Illinoisan for the flaccid voter turnout in such an important election after 2 consecutive choices ended up in prison which was all of our faults for putting them there in the first place.
I happen to have proudly voted for Patrick Hughes myself, although I've voted for Kirk in the past and knew he would win, it was a message vote I guess that he better "Un RINO" soon.
They're
starting to pick em even while they're possibly headed to jail along with the ones already headed there (Hot Rod Blagojevich), as
their candidate may be by the time November comes, solidifying the old
seat of Obama that he barely sat in long enough to stretch the leather
before half the country fell under his ridiculous spell in Kirk's favor most likely which is better than a democrat taking the seat.
Another great victory for average Chicagoan's was seeing dem patronage Crook County Board joke Todd Stroger knocked off the dem ballot, who got the job while his old man who had it was laid up in the hospital bearing his name dying for the most part, prompting me at the time to fashion this photoshop at the time.
It mocks Weekend At Bernies and the fact that they went up to the hospital to get the old man to sign all the paperwork for the seat hand me down while he was practically comotose......(btw Father in the middle and son Todd on the right)
In addition, my vote for governor was former state senator Kirk Dillard, who worked under the
last guy who was governor who didn't end up indicted and later jail, R star Jim Edgar, and at
bedtime he was down by only one percent of the GOP vote with Brady.
We'll have to see what pans out there as far as recount situation if
there even is one which I've not heard anything about as it was too close to call on both sides being seperated by only 1500 votes...That's when your vote counts if you're a conservative more than ever around here, in the primaries.
Woulda been 1499 without my vote.

Because no one comes out in the
primaries to vote, the state gets stuck with candidates that are less
than the best and then one of them gets elected in the general. That's
about it, (as we can see from the low turnouts today in an election to
replace a crooked governor, who himself replaced crooked assed
governor, representing both parties, who soon both will be in prison
simultaneously) as people stay away and we're all left with what
sticks.
Which
are usually gonna be democrats, because around here the Unions make
their people get out there and vote, and they MOSTLY vote lefty, except
for stragglers like myself and other conservatives who don't go with
the flow.
It's quite possible people are waiting,
because it was kind of crappy this morning before work for some, and
the trend reverses this evening which I hope is what happens, otherwise
it's the S-O-S, D-D.

Politico's Sunday morning show roundup; it worries me when I see these people working on the weekends, the weeks are bad enough. I buy this explanation completely where he only reduced the man's sentence from 103 years to 47 which then made him parole eligible but he was still incarcerated. That he takes complete responsibility for like a man....unlike many others in the case like the long line of liberal activist judges who really coddled him ....
Then he (the killer to be) applied for parole at a later time at the recommendation of the Arkansas parole board with a 5-0 vote, and he was then cut loose much later after the so called "commutation"..

When I heard this news this morning I had to collect myself and say

The incident was widely broadcast on television, showing an enraged Barry excoriating Moore, who had become an FBI informant.

ALBANY - Albany's dysfunctional follies veered further into the inane on Thursday:
Gov. Paterson cut off some Senate pay, a lawmaker branded the governor a "coke snorting" womanizer and the Senate - once again - accomplished nothing. The only sign of progress in ending the impasse that began June 8 with a Republican-led coup was that warring senators agreed not to battle for the gavel.
Democrats and Republicans held short, separate sessions in which they did no business. Sources hinted that a deal may be near - but there were no details.
Among the day's lowlights: - Paterson ordered that the per diems and travel expenses paid to do-nothing senators be withheld.
- Democrats blasted the governor for keeping them in Albany day after day and hot-headed Sen. Kevin Parker called Paterson a "coke snorting, staff-banging governor." Paterson has admitted youthful drug use and several extra-marital affairs.
- The governor ordered both sides back Friday - and said he won't let them go home until they vote on important legislation.
"This is a crisis that needs to be redressed and it needs to be redressed now," Paterson told reporters. "This is a crisis of governance."
The Senate has been paralyzed since a GOP-led leadership coup on June 8 that included dissident Democrats Pedro Espada Jr. and Hiram Monserrate (D-Queens).
Monserrate has since switched back to the Democrats, leaving the Senate deadlocked at 31-31.
Senators on both sides toned down the vitriol yesterday, reporting progress in negotiations for a leadership agreement that would get the Senate working again.
"We acknowledge ... we have brought obviously a lot of disrespect to this institution," Espada said.
Both sides agreed to go in separately yesterday to avoid a replay of Tuesday's circus, when each party held simultaneous sessions.
The Democrats gaveled in, said they believed the session wasn't legal without the governor also calling in the Assembly, and left in under four minutes.
The Republicans followed suit in even less time.
Paterson accused senators of being more interested in going home for the weekend than getting their work done.
"The Senate is derelict in their duties just at the time that the people need the Senate to act the most," he said.
Paterson's continued actions and criticisms have worn thin on his fellow Democrats.
Parker, who is under indictment for felony assault, said lawmakers don't need a "coke snorting, staff-banging governor to lecture us about behavior in government."
He was unapologetic about the attack. "I'm sorry the governor has not provided the kind of leadership we need to deal with the issues of the people of New York, that's what I'm sorry about," Parker said
