Blackhawks Win First Stanley Cup In My Lifetime, Since 1961

Finally. Now if the Cubs win the World Series, Obama gets impeached and Daley resigns, the world will be 'right' once again as America reigns as the beacon of freedom and liberty as it once was.

The game ended strangely as the Hawks scored in Overtime in a goal which didn't set off the lights and took all the spontenaity out of the celebration because no one was sure if it was a goal or not.

The replays showed an obvious goal and the crowd was stunned.

photo nbc5.com chicago

It was indeed 'deemed' a goal, and the Hawks have won the Stanley Cup for the first time in 51 years.

My tribute to the Hawks after a lifetime as a fan who sat through some miserable shit at the old Stadium. We watched games standing on the Hot Dog Concession Carts in the second balcony back in high school on Sunday nights! We were die hard's.

Whew, finally, I've almost seen everything now.

Now, if only the Cubs win the world series and Obama's impeached I could die having had seen everything. 22 Year Old Jonathon Toewes was named the MVP of the series and he's about to become the 'toast of the town' here in Chicago.

Already a legend on par with Makita and Hull, (especially after this plus winning the Smythe Conn Trophy(MVP) ) who were the last men to bring home the Cup to Chicago, again, back in 1961, 3 years before I was born.

Patrick Kane, who scored the winning goal in OT, celebrates the
Blackhawks winning the Stanley Cup. (Scott Strazzante/Tribune)

Strangely enough I bought my nieces and nephews Hawks jerseys this past Christmas and one of them Jonathon Toewes!

I'm sure they're freaking out tonight as we all went to game 2 on Memorial Day together. I actually live in the Suburbs and fireworks are going off outside out here, I kid you not.. as we watch the game here and my neighbors watch me post this.

We've suffered all our lives as far as being a Chicago sports fan goes, I was even once a season ticket holder for 10 years, when they sucked through the 90's mostly.

This is a huge night for we lifetime Hawks fans, the Super Bowl of '85 all over again. So a big congratulations to the Blackhawks, and now watch Obama somehow glom onto this for some publicity as if he's a Hawks fan.

The only black fan in the city! lol Just kidding, there's a few I'm sure, not many though.

JUST IN CASE HE DOES try to take some credit for this....

BlackHawks Win Game 4, Sweep to 2010 NHL Finals Berth

I've been following these Hawk's all season

Truth is this team has been really exciting to watch and it takes a great team to get this savvy fan to even pay attention after 45 years of failure minus 1961's Championship 3 years before I was born and an appearance in 1992 both under original NHL owner, Dollar Bill Wirtz, who hockey fans know pinched the quarters so tight around here the eagles would scream.

He dies 3 years ago, his son Rocky puts this team together and viola, the Super Bowl of Hockey as the Hawks are there, as are the fans and I'm gonna make enough to pay my mortgage for a couple years selling my tickets.!!

I'm happier than Barney Frank at the local DC butt pirate bathhouse on Two Fer Tuesday's!!

I won't unload all of them, I'll keep the game 4 and 7's which the latter they hopefully won't need ....but if they do I wouldn't miss that one for the world. After all, I've been waiting my whole life for this shit.

The two-man bicycle kick GOAL

LogoThis is right out of the old time superstar soccer player Pele' days, when he was the first international Soccer star who came from playing most of his career in Brazil, to come to the US to kick start the US soccer movement even back then in the 70's who also came to America and played briefly for a team called the New York Cosmos when I was a kid up in White Plains NY.

Here's a picture of the man who made the bicycle kick an almost unstoppable move kids broke their necks trying to emulate (which is soccer's answer to the Karate Kid "Crane Technique he practices on the pier post and uses to win the imaginary tournament lol)

as these 2 players executed a perfect bicycle kick the goes for a goal which happened last week but hits the net today for some reason...I'm not a big fan of soccer but this is pretty unusual to see if ever prior to this other than the one man version above.

Yahoo! Sports: "In last Sunday's Argentina Primera Division match between Gimnasia La Plata and Boca Juniors, something happened that probably hasn't happened before and we probably won't see again. After the ball deflected off a Boca defender, Gimnasia's Sebastian Romero and Marco Perez both executed bicycle kicks at the same time to score a goal. Trying to figure the odds on both players executing overhead kicks in unison to put the ball in the back of the net is enough to make your head hurt, especially considering Perez had to scramble to his feet in order to get there."

Golfsmith Promises Free Drivers If Phil Mickelson Wins Masters. Well, It's Payback Time!

This is interesting now that Phil Mickelson actually won yesterday, Golfsmith will be refunding the money to customers who bought a certain Callaway driver (think Big Bertha drivers) would be eligible for the refund if Mickelson won the Masters.

Well get out your receipts and Golfsmith is getting out it's checkbook this morning and I'm cashing in because I bought my little bro one of these on his birthday March 10th when the giveaway started, so I'm one of the lucky ones for once!!

Thanks Phil for smackin' down the "Tiger Woods" show and winning one for him and his wife who's been ill.

We can re use that cash alright, a couple beaner's.

SB Nation: "Golfsmith, the golf supply megastore, recently held a promotion in conjunction with Callaway Golf: certain Callaway drivers would be free if Phil Mickelson won the Masters. We don't know if you heard--there wasn't much media attention around the Masters this year or anything--but that's indeed exactly what happened. Golf clubs for everyone, right? Well, according to Waggle Room, sorta:

Prior to the Masters, golf retailer Golfsmith offered a contest in conjunction with Callaway Golf that would give away thousands of drivers to contestant entrants if Phil Mickelson won his third green jacket. Customers that purchased specific Callaway Golf drivers between March 10 through April 7 - the day before the tournament - would have their full purchase refunded if Mickelson won on Sunday."

P. Mickelson Wins Masters, Leaving Tiger in 4th Place for HIS Third Green Jacket

Mickelson's a nice man and happens to be one of Tiger's best friends if I'm not mistaken, not to mention his wife has been ill for some time and is now in remission.

So count me among the happy to see him win the prestigious Major tournament, as he's a role model type man I'd like to see at the top since the other top aforementioned guy can't seem to keep his balls out of trouble on and off the course.

Here to the left he is pictured with his beyond beautiful wife Amy after the win as they grabbed a few congratulatory moments before all the Masters Green Jacket pomp and circumstance. She's been bravely battling breast cancer and it was just a wonderful storybook win that Americans in general enjoyed over the weekend.

This picture from the Master's website moments after the victory says it all.

2010 Masters Golf Tournament: "Mickelson also knew he could fit that 6-iron shot through a gap in the towering pines at the 13th hole.

He was right on both counts.

Phil and wife Amy after the win, who he dedicated his 3rd Masters win to the beauty who's sadly been battling breast cancer but is presently in remission God bless her and him both.

Mickelson’s second shot (pictured) at the par 5 13th is one that will be recorded in the annals of Masters history. There were plenty of stunning shots by Mickelson over 72 holes as he won the Masters for the third time Sunday, but it is that swing and that result that will be most talked about.

It paved the way for Mickelson to shoot a third 67 at Augusta National Golf Club for a three shot victory over Lee Westwood.

Mickelson’s weekend rounds -- a pair of 5-under-par 67s -- rivaled the finest back-to-back rounds in Tournament history, and elevated Mickelson into the elite tier of Masters champions." continued

Tiger Hanging In There After 3rd Round Play, He's Back, Mickelson Leading 12 Under @ 5 pm cdt

I wrote this before after the rounds when I saw what he did on the third hole you saw in the video a few posts above, and I didn't start watching until the back nine..he burned me too with his jump right back into his old self. That rehab really worked wonders huh?

******** original post below ********

Looks like getting clubbed from all directions for four straight months on 7 continents hasn't ruined Tiger's Golf game or made him "club shy" from the swinging of clubs from others, something experts in 'getting your tail whipped by your wife' were predicting ...just kidding, I don't know, maybe they actually were ...

This afternoon I and the rest of the world, come on admit it, caught a couple minutes of the Woods Comeback Game AKA the Masters hoping for a train wreck with some skank running across 18 naked tryin' out for tiger's den, but instead they actually saw him play some golf.

And he obliged leaving himself right in striking range in the mix, and has been well accepted around the course by fans, but what can you expect at this thing.

5 pm sat

This "ain't the Western Open" right down the road here every summer, where jerks like me are actually allowed in the place to play and watch tournaments, who are the one's that are gonna hassle him, even in fun... unlike Augusta where there's more bodyguards than the Messiah totes around Secret Service, although there are some snooty assed places here as well where the celebs play, like Rolling Green Country Club down the street as well and many on the North Shore for the ultra rich.

Back to the tournament, Phil Mickelson has come from down to have a great afternoon now sitting in the lead, and looks like he's not about to let his old buddy Woods steal any more of the show than he has, at least Not today, Tiger... but he's playing pretty good considering he got his ass whipped by a mad crazed wife with a golf club only 4 months ago.

Long way though from looking like this on Thanksgiving day after his "Swedish Ass Whoopin' " ..lol (photoshop from the day it happened I made then some will remember.)

Bad News, Everyone: Duke Wins NCAA Final 84-61 - Ncaa basketball 10 - Kotaku

I'm not a fan anymore of the NBA, but when it comes to college sports I check in for the final four and this one was a doosie

Talk about a great game..... a throwback to to the old days when white guys dominated basketball, as these two teams fielded more "cracker's" than I've seen in a long time on a basketball court that weren't from the refreshment stand.

Even more enjoyable was the fact that the game was all it was billed and went right down to the wire literally, with Bradley's top star taking the very last shot, a "hail Jordan" chuck from half court that actually rimmed in and out, handing the win to Duke.

This win gives them the NCAA's for like the 20th time in my life , as they've dominated the NCAA since coach K hit the scene a couple decades ago (Mike Krzyzewski pronounced sha-shesky), ending North Carolina's dominance for a time that included the Jordan era with legendary Dean Smith, then before that it was UCLA and coach John Wooden, great basketball legacies at all those fine universities during my lifetime at least.

Here's the actual Duke record at NCAA championship level play, and it's really only 4 national championships but it seems like a hundred because of all the final four appearances they didn't win as you can see....

NCAA Tournament Champions
1991, 1992, 2001, 2010
NCAA Tournament Final Four
1963, 1964, 1966, 1978, 1986, 1988 - 1992, 1994, 1999, 2001, 2004
Conference Tournament Champions
1938, 1941, 1942, 1944, 1946, 1960, 1963, 1964, 1966, 1978, 1986, 1988, 1992, 1999 - 2003, 2005, 2006

*******************************
Duke Edges Butler in Final Four Championship

INDIANAPOLIS - Butler had the adorable Bulldog mascot, the type-casted good-guy players and a Hollywood script written to the final scene.

But the NCAA championship game isn't a movie and sometimes the quarterback gets the girl, the rich guy wins the lottery and Duke gets the victory.

The Blue Devils staved off what would have been an epic upset by beating underdog Butler, 61-59, on Monday night in the NCAA championship game in Lucas Oil Stadium and added to its already illustrious legacy.

By earning its fourth national title, Duke cemented itself and Coach Mike Krzyzewski into the small and elite best-ever category of programs and coaches.

It certainly wasn't easy, though, as Butler played -- as they like to call it -- The Butler Way for 40 minutes.

Ultimately, though, Duke was Duke.

While Duke has celebrated under reigning confetti many times before, don't think that this one didn't mean something to the Blue Devils. Yes, they were favored, but few thought Duke would live to see the title game.

Many didn't even think the Blue Devils deserved a No. 1 seeding in the South Regional.

But there they stood in Indianapolis as victors, ending the storybook tale that Butler had captivated basketball fans everywhere with through the tournament.

Obama's Opening Pitch Way High, like HE was through his young days

Like everything in this country, the crowd at the National's Opener today was split about right down the middle, unlike Obama's wacky curve ball of which the only "curving" it did was sail high and beyond outside of the plate for a right handed batter

A throw that would have caused a left handed batter to hit the dirt, although it seems he worked on the embarrassing "girly man" form from last year, which I'll give him a little credit for. We don't need a president in name only who isn't gay but acts like he is.

.
President Obama tossed out the first pitch at Nationals Park Monday afternoon, throwing high and wide to start the Washington team's opener against the Philadelphia Phillies.

Obama drew a mixture of cheers and boos from the crowd as he strolled out onto the field wearing a Chicago White Sox cap in a nod to his hometown team. It was his first trip to the stadium since taking office. "A little high and outside," Obama remarked after his pitch. via Obama throws the opening pitch | POLITICO 44.

He’s still Duke’s coach K-apable -This Winning Stuff Gets To Be Old Hat...

Well the coach forgot one thing after his umpteenth final four berth as the coach of Duke Basketball, and it wasn't the traditional cutting down of the nets. No, he'd a been able to explain that somehow or someone else woulda' taken care of hit.

But you don't wanna forget this thing.....

“Hey Coach!” an usher yelled. “You forgot your wife.”

No, he blew off his brand new wife, leaving her standing there in the crowded and dirty tunnel that leads to the sweaty locker room ...

Bet his ride home wasn't too fun and he won't let that happen again win or no win. That's what cost him the first or second ones probably. lol

Rivals.com: "HOUSTON – He had snipped away at the nets, bear-hugged his players and high-fived all the hands that dangled over the railings after Duke advanced to the Final Four.

Still, as Mike Krzyzewski jogged up the Reliant Stadium tunnel following the Blue Devils’ 78-71 victory over Baylor, it didn’t take him long to realize that something was missing.

“Hey Coach!” an usher yelled. “You forgot your wife.”

Krzyzewski couldn’t help but chuckle as he turned and saw his bride, Mickie, trotting toward him. Somehow, amid all the hoopla, he had neglected to share the moment with the person he loved the most."

IOC Investigating Canadian Women's Gold Medal Stogie & Brew Celebration

Michael Jordan and other USA basketball dream teamer's did the same things, although not so "in your face" as Jordan and the Bulls frequently lighted cigars during their championship celebrations outdoors and indoors and it's supposed to be illegal at the UC....and I know as a devout fan during the Jordan era.

But it's an age old tradition in sports to smoke a victory cigar..PC out of control. Is every damn tradition under attack nowadays, everything everywhere.

Here's one pic I have right on my screensaver from their three peat celebration...

Here's Red Auerbach, storied owner of the original Boston Celtics, near the pinnacle of sports team successes smokin' a victory cigar and Jordan right on the cover of Sports Illustrated....

.

No one said "Jack". Again it wasn't on the court and yes, they're supposed to be ladies and for some reason ladies can smoke cigarettes but not cigars without causing a stir even at a bar much less on worldwide TV, and yes the kids are watching this and that's the biggest thing.

And they also chugged a couple beers I guess.... dumb yes, the end of the Olympics? No.

here to view a slideshow of the celebration.)
But you know what, these people just accomplished their entire life dream at this moment. Cut em some freakin' slack for not thinking of the world's children for 5 seconds. I'm sick of parents allowing their children to make celebrities and sports figures their "heroes" in the first place..
IOC to investigate Canadian women's hockey team for celebration

Fourth-Place Medal - 2010 Olympics Blog - Yahoo! Sports: "The International Olympic Committee will investigate the actions of Canadian women's hockey players who celebrated their gold medal victory Thursday night by swigging beer and smoking cigars on the ice in Vancouver.

A number of players, including 18-year-old superstar Marie-Philip Poulin, were drinking alcohol on the ice following the team's 2-0 defeat of the United States. (The legal drinking age in British Columbia is 19.) Players lingered for more than 70 minutes after the awards ceremony reveling in the arena, which was empty except for media and arena staff. more

33rd America's Cup In The Hands of America Again...BMW - Oracle

Not the most important thing happening today but always nice to see Americans winning around the globe.
America hasn't controlled this thing for 15 years, since 1995, which is the oldest trophy in International sports competition I didn't know until today.

Not exactly a lifetime, but a while for winning something with our name attached to it. Europe is all bent because of a court case that had a lot to do with the race, and thus they claim an unfair advantage to the US. because the court was in New York.
"They had a strategy, they got a little help from the legal system in New York and that always makes it difficult for us Europeans and that gave them advantages.
Boo friggin hoo.....Of Course, every time Americans win we must have done something wrong. I mean, we always cheat so much over here to win these international competitions with such stiff opponents (yea right).

Sore losers. ;)

Yahoo! News: "VALENCIA, Spain – Still bundled against the cold in his white foul-weather gear, software tycoon Larry Ellison hoisted the America's Cup high in the air, then planted a kiss on the oldest trophy in international sports.

'Valencia — muchas gracias!' the self-made billionaire screamed, following the ride of his life across the Mediterranean on one of the most remarkable boats ever built.

The America's Cup is back in American hands.

It was swept away from Europe by Ellison's space-age trimaran, which has a gigantic wing for a sail and easily sped ahead of two-time defending champion Alinghi of Switzerland to complete a two-race sweep in the 33rd America's Cup on Sunday.

'I am so proud of this team, I am so proud to be part of this team, and I am especially proud to bring the America's Cup, once again, after a long absence, back to the United States of America,' said the 65-year-old Ellison, the CEO of Oracle Corp." more

Saints Win, They Aren't The "Aint's" No More !

It took 20 years for the New Orleans Saints to record a winning season, and another 13 before they won a playoff game.

But now, they're Super Bowl champs. See how they got here, from start to finish this year.

This was the halftime performance in case you missed it.....>I've seen better from the Who, but not bad for nearing Social Security days......

An interesting note about the Who and SEE BS; fiveof their songs can be heard AS CSI, themes in Primetime TV....A coincidence that they appeared during a CBS Super Bowl or a big commercial for the TV lineup? You be the judge...:)

There hasn't been any looting reported yet, although the fans are partying in New Orleans after the win this past evening.....

However, just in case any trouble starts, police have their eyes open for this notorious man from Katrina..
Actually The Infamous NOLA Looter's cleaner looking and hair is shorter
than many NFL players today. Just Look Here

Current and Former Athletes Give Super Bowl XLIV predictions - Video

I'm pulling for the Saints seeing they're 0 for History in the Super Bowl, having never reached the big game 'til today. They can use the win for the city

Also, a New Orleans win will finally hopefully shut the book on ALL the Katrina whining as far as I'm concerned. This is proof the city is back for the most part, and for that we're all glad, as can be as a Third World City doesn't make it to the NFL Super Bowl.

Perhaps in many ways, aside from the death and suffering, Katrina was the best thing to happen to that city.

They can start anew in all facets, and proof of that is that their perpetually brutal football team is finally in the Super Bowl. It took the Chicago Bears, a charter NFL franchise almost a century aside from a couple "Championships" along the way, and they're only 1 for 2 in Super Bowls.

Their win in Super Bowl 20 by the way was in New Orleans, and I was there.

Proof anything can happen after what seems is the worst, and a reminder to be thankful for whatever we have at any given moment as fortunate Americans, as things can ALWAYS get worse than they are, especially outside the borders of this country.

Check Out Ryan Miller's Team U.S.A. Goalie Mask

Very Cool.

Yahoo! Sports: "Ryan Miller is the goalie for the Buffalo Sabres, and this February he will be repping the United States to the fullest as the number one netman for the national team. And when I say he's repping the U.S. to the fullest, I mean it. Have a look at that mask.

It doesn't get much more American than Uncle Sam with a tattoo, about ready to layeth the smack down.

Designed by Warwick Mask & Equipment, Inc. in Port Huron, Mich., the mask features that fearsome Uncle Sam, along with Olympics logos, and patriotic sayings that aren't pictured but are probably pretty fearsome in their own right." continued

Manning wins a record fourth NFL MVP ....WOW. LOL ..

This is what I guess it means to be the very best. The closest I can remember to this in our present era is Joe Montana from the SanFran Freakshow 49ers of the 80's and Brett Favre of the entire 20th century....lol

As the article below quips, maybe they SHOULD rename the trophy after this fourth one for Manning as I did here... ;)

Manning wins record fourth MVP

NFL- nbcsports.msnbc.com: "NEW YORK - Maybe the award should be renamed Most Valuable Peyton.

Peyton Manning became the first player to win The Associated Press NFL Most Valuable Player honors four times. The Indianapolis Colts’ sensational quarterback romped to the award Saturday in balloting by 50 sports writers and broadcasters who cover the league.

He received 39½ votes to 7½ for Drew Brees of New Orleans. Only four players — all quarterbacks — earned votes. The other two were Philip Rivers of San Diego (2) and Brett Favre of Minnesota (1)."

Gridiron Risk/ Ditka On Head Injuries in Football

Chicago Bears Legend and NFL Hall of Famer Mike Ditka with player turned analyst Ron Woodson, who himself had 5 concussions during his time in the league spent mostly with the Pittsburgh Steelers, talk about the head injury problem among older NFL veterans and newer players as well, even with improved headgear.

Ditka has been on this cause for quite a while, attempting to get the leagues to pay more attention to the problem affecting almost all players from Pee Wee's to the Pro's.

Gridiron Risk - Video - FOXNews.com: "Gridiron Risk

Here's another video on the new NFL rule that says no player can return to the field on the same day as an assessment of a concussion received during a game and then must be cleared by an independent physician the following day.

Shaq Steps Up And Pays for Raped & Murdered North Carolina Girl's funeral -

You surely remember the case of the mother in name only who sold this, her own beautiful young flesh and blood to inhumane and sick fu** child traffickers and murderers a couple weeks ago.....

While the preponderance of sports celebs donate countless hours and dollars towards just about every major charity out there, there are still many other stars of the NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL along with just about anyone really including who can and should take note of this random act of kindness Shaq O'Neill layed at the feet of the grieving family of the young 5 year old Shaniya Davis, who was raped and killed by a sack of human scum who is thankfully in custody for the murder, when he saw her plight on CNN and again stepped up on his own saying and doing this...
"What happened to her was tragic. I wanted her to have a funeral that would be as beautiful as she was," O'Neal said in the statement.
And so that's what he provided, and for act of needed kindness he's the "man of the week" around here..

Blackhawks Score 6 Unanswered Goals For Record Setting Victory

Hawks trailed 5-0 11:43 into game

The Blackhawks recorded their largest comeback in franchise history and tied the NHL mark when they rallied from a five-goal, first-period deficit to defeat the Calgary Flames 6-5 in overtime Monday night at the United Center.

It was one of the most thrilling games in recent memory. It was also one of those games you leave after the first period all disgusted .....and then you and your friends get home right about as the Hawks were notching the #6th unanswered victory goal !!

chicagotribune.com: "Anyone who witnessed the first 12 minutes of the Blackhawks' game against the Calgary Flames on Monday night would find it hard to believe the night ended with the Hawks mobbing each other on the ice after tying the biggest comeback in NHL history.

After spotting the Calgary Flames a five-goal lead in the first 11:43, the Hawks roared back with six consecutive goals -- three in the second period -- and went on to an amazing 6-5 overtime victory at the United Center.

Brent Seabrook scored the winner 26 seconds into OT. Patrick Kane had a goal and two assists to lead the rally, and Patrick Sharp, John Madden, Dustin Byfuglien and Dave Bolland also scored. Brian Campbell and Andrew Ladd added two assists as 10 Hawks landed on the scoresheet.

'You can't do that every night,' Kane said. 'At the same time, what a fun game to be a part of. It was awesome. From the second period on, we just controlled the whole play.'

In their first meeting since the Hawks eliminated the Flames in six games in last season's Western Conference quarterfinals, Calgary hit the Hawks with an early goal barrage that sent starting goaltender Cristobal Huet to the bench after yielding three scores on five shots. more here

I forgot to post this earlier this morning from Wednesday night......funny

Video Fix: "Precious: A dad made a pretty sweet grab of a foul ball at the Phillies game Tuesday, but when he gave it to his 3-year-old daughter, she threw it back.

He looks horrified for two seconds, but then hugs his daughter and says 'it's OK.' It was a cute moment, which is why everyone has been showing the clip and why we are now showing it to you. Enjoy."
