This is the most pathetic and sad thing I've seen in a long time from a desperate liberally run urban center who's sending notices to bloggers to cough up three hundred bucks for a blogger's business license?

Since when did hobby meet the threshold of being a business? I know about 20 people who make more than $50 a month on their blogs, the rest make nothing..

These people waste waste waste and instead of cutting the waste they keep sending us the damn bills. This is just another reason to fire every damn democrat this side of Moscow in the fall and then the republicans who lied to get elected get burned at the stake with the dems kicked out in November.

Maybe they need the money to pay the Black Panthers' to guard all the polling places in November to assure Obama's allies get re elected perhaps?

To the city of Philadelphia, it's a potential moneymaker, and the city wants its cut.

In May, the city sent Bess a letter demanding that she pay $300, the price of a business privilege license.

'The real kick in the pants is that I don't even have a full-time job, so for the city to tell me to pony up $300 for a business privilege license, pay wage tax, business privilege tax, net profits tax on a handful of money is outrageous,' Bess says.

It would be one thing if Bess' website were, well, an actual business, or if the amount of money the city wanted didn't outpace her earnings six-fold. Sure, the city has its rules; and yes, cash-strapped cities can't very well ignore potential sources of income. But at the same time, there must be some room for discretion and common sense.

When Bess pressed her case to officials with the city's now-closed tax amnesty program, she says, 'I was told to hire an accountant.'

She's not alone. After dutifully reporting even the smallest profits on their tax filings this year, a number — though no one knows exactly what that number is — of Philadelphia bloggers were dispatched letters informing them that they owe $300 for a privilege license, plus taxes on any profits they made.

Landscapers find workers choosing jobless pay | The Age of Obama

Anyone who's ever owned or run a business would be able to see the disincentive it is to keep continuing unemployment benefits, but then again, the people int he Obama administration have never held real jobs nor owned real businesses, including the boy wonder sitting in the Captain's chair first and foremost. 

People asking for deferred start dates for landscaping jobs because it's easier to sit home and collect Obama's extended unemployment than it is to pay for gas, work all day, blow money on bus fare and all the stuff working people do each day. 

One former landscaper, who has been on unemployment for a year, said he will search for work when the benefits expire, but he estimates he earns about $50 to $60 less a week than he would if he were working.

"It's crazy," he said. "They keep doing all of these extensions."

Yea, why should I bother working.....these extensions have been incentive to be unmotivated,  and it's only getting worse each day with this Obama administration and it's 'wussified' nanny state hand outs and welfare.

In a state with the nation's highest jobless rate, landscaping companies are finding some job applicants are rejecting work offers so they can continue collecting unemployment benefits. 

It is unclear whether this trend is affecting other seasonal industries. But the fact that some seasonal landscaping workers choose to stay home and collect a check from the state, rather than work outside for a full week and spend money for gas, taxes and other expenses, raises questions about whether extended unemployment benefits give the jobless an incentive to avoid work. 

Members of the Michigan Nursery and Landscape Association "have told me that they have a lot of people applying but that when they actually talk to them, it turns out that they're on unemployment and not looking for work," said Amy Frankmann, the group's executive director. "It is starting to make things difficult."

Apollo heroes call on Americans to save US spaceflight programme - Times Online

Today is the 28th anniversary of the launch of the very first space shuttle and yet can out there tell me why I had to go to a British Website to find news of this other than catching Megyn Kelley talkin' about it in the background while I listen to Rush here?

This is my Google search for this rally because I was surprised I didn't hear about it until afterwards. If I miss it, it's not there. And sure enough "it's not there" as far as our media goes as usual unless it's "racist tea party related"

The left seemingly has no respect for anything which was previously  important to most Americans, and especially what the space program has done for American life and humanity as a whole  and continues to do since Kennedy got us to the moon with the help of some great astronauts and great Americans at NASA.

In fact they're like the only Government run agency that I can think of  which most Americans don't HATE excluding the left of course!!

Student loan Web site broken on first day | If They Can't Run This, How Healthcare?

Not only was the website down as a result of this Obama program, but reports are this morning that 2500 student loan officers are going to be laid off as a result of this program. Nice work Barry and friends., that should help the job numbers...

All that on the very day Obama makes his announcement the Gman is now the "Loan man" which means "We the people".

I tell ya, nothing like borrowing back money you've already GIVEN them, or should we say is "extorted" out of our paychecks each week, through government IRS threats of prosecution and imprisonment. Looks like Sallie Mae will be soon headed down the road of siblings Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae soon enough if the same people and up running it. Meaning Washington as is..

Washington Times - "The government's Web site for handling student loans was broken most of Tuesday — the very day President Obama signed a law putting the government in charge of all subsidized student lending.

Visitors to the site www.studentloans.gov early Tuesday afternoon saw an error message, while users Monday saw either an error message or, in the evening, were simply unable to connect to the site at all.

The site was working again by late Tuesday, but critics said the technical problems underscore their concerns about turning such a major program over to the federal government.

'This is a case study in what happens when the federal government takes over a function of the private sector. On its first day of operation, the federal student loan program has collapsed into a black hole from which no information can escape,' said John Hart, a spokesman for Sen. Tom Coburn, Oklahoma Republican.

Multiple messages for comment were left with the Education Department on Monday and Tuesday. On Tuesday afternoon, a spokesman e-mailed that officials were 'checking' on the matter.

Mr. Obama signed the loan changes into law as part of a package of fixes to the health care law he signed just last week. The two measures had to be combined in order to pass through the complex budget process, which allowed Democrats to avoid a Republican-led filibuster in the Senate.

The health care fixes included aid for seniors who face a gap in Medicare prescription drug coverage, higher funding to states for Medicaid and a delay in taxes on high-cost insurance plans.

Democratic leaders in Congress earlier this month tacked the student loan overhaul onto the health bill Mr. Obama signed. But the Internet glitch provided an embarrassing kickoff for the changes.

If a gun is so important to us on the street or someone's home, why can't I go to the Supreme Court and sit there with a gun?'

Sounds like the Mayor's resigned to losing in the Supreme Court, but he won't say what kind of new regulations he'll push if he does."

 If anything was worth listening to as I turned this on throughout the morning and afternoon is Senator Tom Coburn, R,  who's been a physician in the real health care world and I live in it too, and he knows what he's talking about like the other doctors in the Congress. Not Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, they know nothing about the real world behind the white coats and that's who I want to hear.

Republicans are watching the clock closely as Democrats have talked for nearly twice as long as they have so far this morning. Before Democratic Rep. Jim Clyburn started talking, the time of possession was:

Democrats: about 74 minutes
Republicans: about 37 minutes

I watched the first hour and we had Obama, Lamar Alexander, the one republican, Pelosi and Reid talk and at the end of the speech from Harry Reid, Obama makes a remark that all 4 went over their allotted time, and says this poignant thing although he didn't know he was saying it all in a nutshell....

"We have to be more disciplined in our speeches if we wanna get this done"

That's it in a nutshell, no one can be disciplined when their spending billions and trillions of other peoples money. Period.. If they can't even stop talking on time they're gonna FIX Healthcare after 3 hours of arguing who's plan is better when the majority has already predetermined the outcome and wrote that 2500 page bill in secrecy?

Yea right.

I turned it off at that point because this is nothing but a trap as conservative commentators have been saying since Obama came up with the idea of this stupid waste of time. Now Obama is talking some more when I switched back to it.

Goodbye on this thing. It's more bullshit from the same bullshitters as this group has LOST ALL CREDIBILITY.

Plane Intentionally Crashed into Small Austin Texas office building

Reports are that this nut was attacking the IRS, which is just what we need as now every time we talk about terrorists and airplanes, liberals will bring this one single solitary event up for the next 15 years just as they use Timothy McVeigh, who was an major asshole by the way, as the proof all terrorists aren't  99% Middle eastern descent radical Muslims.

Plane crashes into Northwest Austin office building

The Blotter: "A plane crashed into a Northwest Austin building that houses federal offices about 9:30 this morning, sending plumes of smoke into the air that could be seen for miles.

Paramedics have set up a triage center at the scene, though it is unclear how many people are injured. EMS officials said one person was unaccounted for.

“We have no idea right now if there are any patients, or how many,” Austin-Travis County EMS Assistant Director James Shamard said.

Mathilda Sanchez, a spokeswoman for the Seton Family of Hospitals, said University Medical Center Brackenridge received two patients, and that no other hospitals had received any.

The Internal Revenue Service has offices in the building, including its civil enforcement and criminal investigations divisions, said Special Agent Michael Lemoine, a spokesman for the criminal investigations division.

He said that some IRS offices are on the first floor, which Lemoine said was hit by the plane.

He said that the criminal investigations division personnel are safe and accounted for. He did not have information on the civil division workers, who conduct audits and other activity at the offices"

"Just 38% of voters now favor the health care plan proposed by President Obama and congressional Democrats. That’s the lowest level of support measured for the plan in nearly two dozen tracking polls conducted since June.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 56% now oppose the plan.

Half the survey was conducted before the Senate voted late Saturday to begin debate on its version of the legislation. Support for the plan was slightly lower in the half of the survey conducted after the Senate vote.

Prior to this, support for the plan had never fallen below 41%. Last week, support for the plan was at 47%. Two weeks ago, the effort was supported by 45% of voters.

Intensity remains stronger among those who oppose the push to change the nation’s health care system: 21% Strongly Favor the plan while 43% are Strongly Opposed.

"1. Minimum Wage If you charge more for something, you sell less of it. Labor is no different than any other commodity for sale. As economist Walter Williams says, 'If higher minimum wages could cure poverty, we could easily end worldwide poverty simply by telling poor nations to legislate higher minimum wages.' A higher minimum wage means fewer jobs and makes it more difficult for people to start a small business. If you tell me you'll pay me X dollars an hour to do a job, and I say, 'That's fine,' why shouldn't I be allowed to do so? Why not just declare that everyone has to earn at least $100,000 a year? The answer is no different at $100,000 than it is at $15,000. It is just a matter of scale.

2. Taxes Business taxes are built into a product at a number of levels along the production and distribution chain, and then sales tax is added at the end. An ever-increasing government can appear to fund its growth by “taxing the rich” and to make business “pay their fair share,” but low income consumers pay a higher percentage of their total income in taxes. All products and services include taxes even when it is not obvious. For instance, rent contains property tax. Gasoline is highly taxed, but the actual tax rate is not listed at the pump.

3. Over-Regulating Over-regulating of business costs money for those enterprises that survive. Less money - less employment. Over-regulation leaves so many hoops to jump through that it distracts from the aim of the business or company, and thusly hurts expansion. Plus, it makes it all the more daunting to start a business Wasting money on losing propositions like sports stadiums - which are always sold to the public as economic development - takes money out of the economy, which ultimately costs jobs.

4. Health Insurance The law denying the right of people to buy health insurance across state lines results in less competition which means higher prices. Mandated coverage forces us to buy insurance we don't need. As economist Thomas Sowell points out, 'Mandated coverages include alcoholism, acupuncture, breast reduction and treatment for baldness, among other things.

You may just want insurance to cover you in case you get hit with some big-time medical problem, but many state laws will not allow an insurance company to sell you 'major medical' coverage without all the add-ons that politicians and special interests have come up with.' Does a single mother struggling to make ends meet, yet wanting to protect the well being of her children, really need to pay for baldness coverage (pun intended) in her health plan?" continued
