Cop Punts Suspect's Head; High Five Ensues | NBC Chicago: "OS ANGELES -- Despite lying on the ground with his arms and legs spread, a suspect -- who police say is a known gang member -- got a face full of police boot on Wednesday."The kicking cop added insult to injury by giving a post-beating high five. The incident has sparked outrage on both sides of the argument (scroll down to the comments to verify that statement).

On Thursday, El Monte Police Lt. Ken Alva said that the officer has been reassigned to non-patrol duties, while El Monte police and the Los Angeles County Sherriff's Department conduct separate and concurrent investigations.

The department is withholding judgment until the investigations are completed.

"I worked internal affairs for four years and I have learned that you do not make a decision in a vacuum," El Monte Police Chief Tom Armstrong said Wednesday. "I do not know what was in the mind of that officer, as to why he did that. I saw the individual turn his head toward the officer."

As for the officer with a flashlight seen striking the suspect in the video, Armstrong said, "...it appears (the suspect) had his arm underneath his body. You cannot see what was in his hand."

That officer has not been reassigned during the investigations, Alva said Thursday.

"This is going to be looked into, and it should be. ...I'm not here to make a decision or tell you what that officer did was overtly wrong until I know all the facts," Armstrong said.

The driver has been identified as 23-year-old Richard Rodriguez of El Monte.

Rodriguez was booked on suspicion of felony evading. He also was held for possible parole violation, meaning he is not eligible for bail.

Rodriguez is a known gang member, Carlson said. He was making hand signs during the pursuit forming an F, "as in the El Monte Flores gang sign."

The pursuit began about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at an attempted traffic stop in El Monte, police said. Authorities tried to stop the motorist for a traffic violation, said California Highway Patrol Officer Jose Nunez.

Rodriguez opted to keep going, heading onto the eastbound San Bernardino (10) Freeway, then exited in Baldwin Park, police said.

Leyritz, who is awaiting trial for a fatal drunk-driving crash, was hospitalized last night after threatening suicide when he failed a Breathalyzer test required to start his car, Florida cops said today.

A warrant for Leyritz's arrest -- for drinking alcohol in violation of his bail conditions -- could be issued as early as today if the alcohol-testing device confirms such a violation, Florida authorities said.

Pfizer Says "Let There Be Hard On's in Hard Times"

Just a little rant here .......

Here's something society sure cannot go without, we certainly must make it a priority that those out there who lose their health coverage are still able to bump fuzzies on the drug company's dime and that of the ill who pay their bills like myself as they make billions and billions hand over fist?

"So what" that so many people dying of cancer or suffering MS, ALS, etc etc cannot afford the designer therapies and drugs that I take that cost $2500 a month that Phizer and other companies offer and are left out of their free drug programs because we're not on welfare, or any of the other drugs citizens who are ill can't afford because they lost they're health insurance during these so called "trying times".

Times of which that our great grandparents laff at as we all sit here with our 52 inch LCD's and hopped up home computers, (the only country with fat poor people) seeing they sat in soup lines or starved to death while watching their friends, family members and colleagues jump out 20 story windows on Wall Street during the Great Depression.

Something that this not so unusual economic downturn was not until the damn government got involved since the Democrats were the ones that caused it all in the first place by forcing the banks to give homes to the undeserving folks without the means to support the homes they were given, no matter how despairing the media wishes to portray it, we are not suffering through the second coming of the depression.

It's nothing more than the Obama administration making the best of a bad situation as Rham Emmanuel and others have opined time and time again by saying "don't let a good crisis go to waste".

We can't live without a boner pill for a couple of months now can we?

I certainly hope in conjunction with this little publicity stunt they're providing free prophylactics, so these Obama economic casualties don't create more problems for themselves and us by impregnating their partners (the non homosexual recipients that is) right smack dab in the midst of "one of the worst economic times in modern history" according to Obama, to plan on raising a kid or 2, or even 8 like the pathetic 'Octo Mom"God forbid with no foreseeable income on the horizon, thanks to their free Viagra maintenance, no?

Just a thought or two on this publicity stunt, which many in government and publicity seeking pharmaceutical corporations who liberals hate by the way ...(that is when they're not the beneficiary of their kindness) don't seem to do so often nowadays.

It's Marine Week Here In Chicago

There have been all kinds of events over the past week as the Chicagoland area celebrates Marine week as we collectively honor those soldiers who, when not stationed around the world kicking the snot out of evil and cave dwelling radical Muslim terrorists, can be found here back based throughout the country home helping out wherever and whenever they are needed.

Message From And To The RNC Today

This below is a letter, form letter of coarse that the lazy RNC hasn't even bothered to change mind you since 2006 and probably long before. I was so angered upon receiving the most recent fundraising request letter from the Republican National Committee, this particular one signed by you, that I have decided to reply.

You may be asking yourself what is it that upset me so much? Well, imagine my surprise when I open up the envelope from the RNC and read the very first paragraph which stated:

I don’t want to believe you’ve abandoned the Republican Party, but I have to ask… Have you given up?

Quite frankly I was insulted, because it is myself who has been asking the same question of the Republican Party… Has it given up?

No, it is not I who have abandoned the Republican Party, but it is the GOP who sadly has abandoned myself and many other Conservatives like me.

This week a man we all knew was what is referred to as a RINO finally came out of the closet like so many other liberal so-called American's, a man who most of the Republicans on Capital Hill called one of their best friends and a positive for the conservative cause!

This is the face of the Republican Party?

In the past ten years the Republican Party has slid more and more to the left, to such a point that except for only a handful of issues it is extremely difficult to tell the difference between a Republican and a Democrat these days.

Thanks to so-called Republicans we have seen:

• The Federal budget as well as the Federal Government in general balloon to proportions so gigantic in just three short months under the direction of the most liberal president in name only who by the way is unconstitutionally serving in office due to the fact that this man refuses to respond to America's call to provide a legitimate birth certificate. Something that went unchallenged by the present crop of Republicans which alone caused me to surrended my RNC credentials.

• Two brave Border Patrol Agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean spent an inhumane amount of time being falsely incarcerated under the Bush administration and yet only a small handful of spineless congress bothered to do anything about that abomination until we citizens spent hundreds of thousands of dollars petitioning their release which of coarse finally came just this past month.
  
  Instead of receiving praise for a job well done received jail sentences while the scumbag, drug trafficking, illegal they took down receives deals from federal prosecutors.

I’m sorry, but I cannot reward Republican Party for its bad behavior by giving it my hard earned money.

Maybe if the RNC decides to:

• Fight to seal our nations borders nice and tight,
• Round-up, arrest and deport law breaking illegal immigrants.
• Apply heavy handed punishments to companies and individuals who support and employee illegals,
• Stand up to Al Gore and the lunatic global warming zealots,
• Make a commitment, to start tapping into our Nations crude oil deposits and drill in places like ANWR
• Make a commitment to building new refineries here in America.
• Make a commitment to ending all pork barrel spending,
• Make a commitment and a true effort to DECREASE the size of the Federal Government
• Make a commitment to decreasing taxes and simplifying the tax code,
• Make a true commitment to standing by the time honored and true Conservative principles of Liberty, Personal Freedom and Individual Responsibility.

I might consider parting with my money, but not until I see the GOP as a whole abandon its decade long swing to the left, and realign itself as a true Conservative Party, and not until I see the GOP apologize and make amends to Conservatives like myself whom it has abandoned.

It's rendezvous time for the crew of space shuttle Atlantis.

FOXNews.com:"At around 1 p.m. EDT Wednesday, astronaut Megan McArthur will use the shuttle's robot arm to grasp the school bus-sized Hubble Space Telescope and bring it into the shuttle's cargo bay.

Over the next week, other astronauts will go on five spacewalks to repair Hubble for the last time.

Because of the cloud of space debris in Hubble's orbit, the Atlantis crew are running an especially high risk of collision with another object.

Space shuttle Endeavour is on standby at Cape Canaveral in case a rescue mission is needed. The astronauts can't get to the International Space Station from Hubble's orbit.

Meanwhile, NASA downplayed the significance of a 21-inch series of gouges in Atlantis' thermal tiles that was found Tuesday.

The damage was probably incurred during liftoff Monday, when some debris came off the shuttle's external fuel tank.

"It doesn't look very serious," Mission Control said. "Those tiles are pretty thick. The nicks look to be pretty small."

The scratches are on the underside of the hull, about where the right wing meets the fuselage.

"Again, right now, everybody's feeling pretty good that it's not something particularly serious," Mission Control told the astronauts Tuesday. "We just want to make sure we do the right thing and complete all the analysis."

Port Authority wants to dump three of five proposed skyscrapers for WTC site

"The incredible shrinking World Trade Center will be cut back from five iconic skyscrapers to just two signature towers under a new Port Authority plan, the Daily News has learned.

Bludgeoned by recession and a war with developer Larry Silverstein, the Port Authority is proposing halving the office space it will build at Ground Zero - from 10 million square feet to 5 million, sources familiar with the plan say.

The sources say the agency's new vision for the site calls for scrapping one tower that would have been taller than the Empire State Building and nixing two others that would have dwarfed the nearby Woolworth Building."

In place of two Silverstein behemoths, each designed by a British lord and soaring 79 stories, the PA would erect a pair of short, squat buildings no taller than four or five floors - coined "stumps" - that could be used for retail shops, according to the proposal.

The vastly scaled-back site plan was disclosed to The News hours before Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver on Friday branded budget-busting delays and cost overruns at the 16-acre site an "embarrassment to our city, our state and our nation."

Mayor Bloomberg promptly followed up by inviting all warring parties to a summit meeting this week.

Although the Freedom Tower will still climb to its symbolic 1,776 feet, and the Memorial will occupy the heart and soul of the site, the showcase buildings designed by world-class architects - on which Silverstein has already spent hundreds of millions of dollars - will be absent.

"It's getting smaller and smaller and smaller," said Enrique Saurez, a dishwasher from Venezuela who worked at Windows on the World, where 73 employees died. "What happened to their so-called master plan?"

What happened was a calamitous credit crisis that dried up bank financing for Silverstein and a fiscal crunch that has led to falling revenues at PA bridges, tunnels and airports - all amid an increase in borrowing costs.

With a squeeze on cash, lenders, Wall Street tenants, the agency and the builder launched a new round of heated talks to determine exactly who will build what - and on what terms it will be financed.

The result is a PA proposal that would:

- Reduce Tower 2, a planned 79-story, 1,270-foot Silverstein building designed by Lord Norman Foster, to a glorified, prettied-up stump. Read more:
