MANCHESTER, Conn. - Nine people are dead in a workplace shooting at a family-owned beer and wine wholesaler, police said.
Sources said Omar S. Thornton, 34, was a driver for Hartford Distributors and was described by a Teamsters Union official as a recent hire and a "disciplinary problem."
"The union was bringing him in to meet with the company to remedy the problem," said John Hollis, a Teamsters official. "He started shooting."
Thornton shot a number of people and then shot himself with a .223 caliber semiautomatic rifle as police approached and is dead, sources said.
Hollis declined to describe the nature of the disciplinary problem, and he said he wasn't certain if the meeting had taken place when the shooting started. A law enforcement source said Thornton had been suspected of stealing from the business.
Joanne Hannah, who lives in the Enfield, Conn., neighborhood where Thornton lived until about a month ago, said her daughter Kristi had dated Thornton for eight years.
Thornton, who is black, had complained about being racially harassed at work. Thornton brought his complaints to his superiors, who did nothing about it, she said her daughter told her.
Steve Hollander, a member of the family that founded and owns the company, is one of the wounded, a police source said. He was shot in the neck, the source said.
"Everyone is devastated by this tragic and senseless act," said Jim Bataglio, a spokesman for the Hollander family, adding that the Hollander family intends to focus its attention and efforts on the families and the victims.

Aside from the election of the first African American to the office of president which I still believe leaves a mound of questions that have been not only unanswered but outright fought to be kept secret,this presidency will always leave a miserable "taste in my mouth".
At least until Obama comes clean on those well known birther and serious missing records issues, issues which no other federal employee could keep from the public or their bosses as he has for 3 years now, and remain employed.
By bosses in this case who are "we", as we are in fact Obama's employers.
Anyhow, as a result of these unanswered questions surrounding Obama's past, he will never be embraced by much of the population, unless he changes his course about 180 degrees and then some from where he is now which most don't see him doing.
Therefore in my opinion based on that alone he can't carry the jock of Martin Luther King, along with even many hard working and historic African Americans of today who indeed could and I wish would. In fact here's just a few who've carved out exceptional lives under exceptional circumstances the suburban raised Obama knows or knew nothing about growing up......
Men and women like Condoleeza Rice, Thomas Sowell, Clarence Thomas, and this man Colonel Allen West who I'd vote for in a second and twice on Sunday over Obama or anyone else were I in his neck of the woods.

The remark stirred a murmur at the reception, held by the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) Foundation as part of a series of events revolving around the 25th anniversary of Jackson’s run for president. Several CBC members were in attendance, including Chairwoman Barbara Lee (D-Calif.), who’d introduced Jackson.
Davis, who is running for governor, is the only black member of Congress from Alabama.
He is also the only member of the CBC to have voted against the healthcare bill earlier this month.

“One of the reasons that I like and admire Rev. 'Are there people out there who don't like me because of race? I'm sure there are. That's not the overriding issue here,' Obama told CNN as he weighed in on a controversy that has simmered since the former president injected charges of racism into the U.S. healthcare debate this week.
'I think there are people who are anti-government,' Obama, the United States' first black president, said in one of a series of television interviews on Friday.
'I think there's been a long-standing debate in this country that is usually that much more fierce during times of transition or when presidents are trying to bring about big changes,' he said."
Yesterday, our very own Mr Peanut, aka former president "Jimmah Caaahta", the worst we ever had in this land mind you, has now officially fallen off the left loon wagon train and declared all people who oppose Barack Obama's Neo Marxist Black Liberation - like agenda for America all "racists".
This now puts him square in the camp and company of the typical Daily Kos and Democratic Underground reader, so since that group of the far far left has now rendered the word "racist" a useless term by their continued misapplication of it day in and day out, they can throw me in the pool too since I've opposed Obama and his policies all the way back here when he was doing squat diddly for the community he supposedly represented.

This article has much hyperbole and is very short on facts to back up Naomi Campbell's bold assertions, so we're gonna write it off as another one of these I'm afraid.......

In 1988, Campbell appeared on the cover of French Vogue as its first black cover girl after Yves St Laurent, her late friend and mentor, threatened to withdraw all of his advertising from the magazine following its refusal to place Campbell, or any black model, on its front page. Very Interesting but not so good for Race Baitin' Gates/
This story is gaining more and more steam as i mentioned yesterday in a post you can see by scrolling down a few, and as it develops things become a little clearer, particularly since Obama chimed in with his now problematic opinion the other night.
Opinion which I personally determined to be a pretty flippant remark made about a terribly serious situation, by he inferring the arresting officer(s) were then and are now basically stupid, remarks which he cannot back away from quicker if he tried as I said, fitting the Obama pattern to a "T" as they say..
An tiresome exercise that is becoming more and more frequent to we Americans wherever Obama is concerned at least, as most "believers" are now slowly awakening to the fact well known outside their circle that when Obama speaks from off the cuff, most shortly thereafter there will soon be an apology or clarification being crafted to be distributed before the ink is dry on the initially offensive remarks.
His people have this thing down like a science, leaping into damage control quicker than Smokey Bear during fire season, for instance, like his Retard comment on Jay Leno as the most glaring example of Obama's true self showing through the hyperbole and myth the media has helped him conveniently create.
It's there all the time if people would just look harder, this guy's always kind of a mess if you ask me because he's way out of his league, the world can see this so why can't one half our country see it?

However Harmon is definitely in the Hollywood minority when it comes to her criticism of Obama as other lasses at the Latisse party were quick to advocate their unequivocal support.
