Blago guilty on one of 24 counts only: Lying to the FBI

This is nearly identical to the outcome of the Stuart Libby fiasco it now turns out although he, Libby, was convicted of 4 supposed lies or perjury committed also during a trial for something Richard Armitage did... and I among many others don't think they, the federal government, proved a thing against this man Blagojevich.

Don't get me wrong, I didn't vote for the man, never would, and he's definitive slime, but they sure fell 'a country mile short' of what they advertised when taking him down a while back one morning, dramatically arresting him at his home after weeks of media jousting, and the excuse from Pat Fitzgerald was they 'jumped' when they 'did' because it appeared he was about 'to do something illegal'.

WHAT? Yes indeed, that was their line, because the public you'll remember was infuriated this scenario wasn't allowed to play out and suck Obama down with it, were it to have been taken to it's logical conclusion, the fulfillment of the actual bribes being concocted by the Obama, Blago, Emmanuel triumvirate that were supposed to be the basis of the entire case.

Remember, Partick Fitzgerald said this was 'corruption that's making Lincoln turn over in his grave".

As it turned out this was nothing but a 'morning at the office' for Obama and the boys as the only time he's NOT lying is when his mouth is shut like most [d] and many [r] politicians.

The feds obviously moved prematurely to protect Obama and nothing more, and this apparent NON VERDICT proves it. All charges were garbage and all they end up getting him on is lying during the investigation.

Just think what they can do to you and me if they can do this to a democratic governor who got in the way.

Blago guilty on one count: Lying to the FBI

"Update: A federal jury today convicted former Gov. Rod Blagojevich of one count against him: lying to the FBI. The jury was deadlocked on the other 23 counts against the former governor, and all four counts against his brother.

The jury in Rod Blagojevich's corruption trial has reached a verdict, and Blagojevich and his brother are in the courtroom awaiting the announcement after being summoned by U.S. District Judge James Zagel.

Blagojevich and his wife Patti arrived at the courthouse around 3:45 p.m. Their attorneys, Sam Adam and Sam Adam Jr., were already there.

'God bless you, God bless you, I didn't let you down,' Blago said as he shook hands with admirers. He also high-fived spectators.

Patti laughed as Blagojevich kissed her on the cheek.

As he entered the courtroom on the 25th floor, he said: 'How are ya' doin'? Say a prayer for us.'

Robert Blagojevich arrived with his wife and son around 3:55 p.m., waiving to people and reporters gathered in the lobby.

U.S. Atty. Patrick Fitzgerald and Robert Grant, head of the FBI in Chicago, were also in the courtroom for the announcement.

Former Blago aide pleads guilty to fraud ::BlagoSweating

Blagojevich's top right hand man John Harris just got up and plead guilty this morning to fraud, which of coarse means one more person out there with a big story to tell and federal agents more than willing to start listening anytime these people have anything to say and trade.

This is bad news for Blagojevich and possibly Obama down the slowly winding so called road of justice that gets longer with connects and green, which means this guy will testify against him should he decide to go to trial next June

CHICAGO SUN-TIMES :: Gov. Blagojevich: "A former top aide to Rod Blagojevich pleaded guilty today to wire fraud, admitting he discussed having his then boss appoint an adviser to President Obama to the U.S. Senate in exchange for financial benefits for the ex-governor.

The 26-page plea deal details various conversations that allegedly took place between Blagojevich and his former chief of staff, John Harris, concerning who would fill Obama’s open seat."

Harris’ plea deal also reveals a new allegation against the ex-governor concerning an unidentified “Senate Candidate D,” who last year allegedly plotted to turn over money from the candidate’s own campaign fund to Blagojevich in exchange for the appointment.

As part of his plea deal, Harris has agreed to act as a witness against Blagojevich or in any other investigation

"A transcript of a secretly recorded phone call between the brother of former Gov. Rod Blagojevich and U.S. Sen. Roland Burris was released in federal court today, a call in which Burris, then seeking the Senate seat, was recorded offering the Blagojevich campaign a campaign check

'I know I could give him a check,' Burris said. 'Myself.'

But in the same call, Burris tells Robert Blagojevich he is concerned he and Rod Blagojevich will 'catch hell.'

'And if I do get appointed that means I bought it,' Burris said.

'And, and God knows number one, I, I wanna help Rod,' Burris says later in the call. 'Number two, I also wanna, you know, hope I get a consideration to get that appointment.'"

Burris was recorded saying the timing would be crucial to how the fundraising would be perceived.

"And however that goes, ah, it would dictate, ah, you know how the press treats it," he said.

"Understand," Rob Blagojevich answered.

"'Cause man, I, I will be, you know we both would be profiled," Burris continued. "And we don't need that."

A federal judge on Tuesday gave prosecutors permission to turn over the recorded conversation to the Senate Ethics Committee, which has launched a review of Burris's conduct prior to his appointment by Blagojevich.

Burris did not specifically mention offering Blagojevich a check in affidavits he filed in Springfield in connection with hearings on Blagojevich's impeachment. On a "good will" tour around the state in February, Burris addressed a conversation he had with Blagojevich's brother, Robert, during the fall timeframe.

"So some time shortly after Obama was elected, the brother called," Burris said then. "And now in the meantime, I'd talked to some people about trying to see if we could put a fundraiser on. Nobody was -- they said we aren't giving money to the governor. And I said, 'OK, you know, I can't tell them what to do with their money.'

"So when the [governor's] brother called me back, I said, 'Well, look Rob ... I can't raise any money from my friends. I said, maybe my partner and I, you can talk this over and see, could we go to some other people that we might be able to talk to that would help us out if we give -- because we give a fundraiser in the law office, nobody going to show up. We'll probably have a thousand dollars for you or something to that effect.'"

Feds indict Obama Friend and Mentor Blagojevich, 5 others on corruption charges

Feds indict Blagojevich, 5 others on corruption charges:

Daily Herald | "Rod Blagojevich, his brother and four others were socked with a federal indictment today that alleges widespread corruption under the ex-governor's rule.

The 75-page indictment lodged by a grand jury goes beyond the original charges issued in December that Blagojevich tried to sell a U.S. Senate appointment and other state business for personal gain.

The indictment charges Blagojevich with 16 criminal counts of racketeering conspiracy, extortion conspiracy, attempted extortion, wire fraud and making false statements to federal agents.

Also charged are lobbyist Lon Monk, Republican insider Bill Cellini, former chief of staff John Harris, former top fundraiser Chris Kelly and Blagojevich's brother, Rob, who was in charge of the ex-governor's campaign fund.

The indictment makes clear Harris is now cooperating with federal agents.

The latest charges come before an April 7 court-imposed deadline for U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald to deliver a formal indictment to follow up the Dec. 9 arrest of the former governor and Harris.

Blagojevich is believed to be vacationing today in Disney World. His spokesman, Glenn Selig, declined to say where the governor was, but he said he wasn't in Chicago.

The governor and Harris have maintained they did nothing wrong. Defense attorneys for the other defendants could not be immediately contacted"

The charges have no connection to Obama, but Rezko is tied to the Illinois senator in other ways.

Rezko and his family donated at least $21,457 to Obama and helped raise over $200,000 more, though not for his presidential bid. He also advised Obama on the purchase of a new Chicago home and, in his wife's name, purchased a vacant lot next door to the new Obama home when the seller wanted to dispose of both properties at the same time. Rezko then sold a slice of the property to Obama.

The governor wants the North Carolina-based bank to use some of its federal bailout money to resolve the protest by about 200 workers at Republic Windows and Doors.

The company closed last week with just a few days' notice, and the workers have promised to remain inside the factory in shifts until they get assurances they will receive their severance and vacation pay.

Leah Fried, an organizer for the United Electrical Workers union, said the company told the union that Bank of America canceled its financing. Bank of America said Saturday it wasn't responsible for Republic's financial obligations to its employees." continued here
