S.C. man escapes from burning tanning bed:

My Way News -"ROCK HILL, S.C. (AP) - Authorities say a man escaped from a burning tanning bed just before it burst into flames, igniting a fire that damaged several stores and forced people to leave a shopping center. The (Rock Hill) Herald reported Tuesday that no one was injured in the fire, including the man who jumped from the bed.

The fire occurred Monday at an Ultratan tanning salon near Rock Hill.

The man said he heard a popping noise while working on his tan, then saw a flame at the corner of the tanning bed near his foot. Several dozen firefighters arrived at the scene to battle the blaze as shoppers and store workers gathered in the parking lot and the smell of charred plastic filled the air.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the blaze."

A Kentucky may is suing a doctor who he says was only supposed to give him a circumcision, but instead removed his penis.

Phillip Seaton, 61, and his wife are seeking unspecified compensation from Dr. John M. Patterson and the medical practice that performed the circumcision for 'loss of service, love and affection.' The Seatons also are seeking unspecified punitive damages from Patterson and the medical practice, Commonwealth Urology.

A woman who answered the phone at Commonwealth Urology would not take a message for the doctor Thursday. But the Seaton's attorney said the doctor's post-surgical notes show the doctor thought he detected cancer and removed the penis. Attorney Kevin"George said a later test did detect cancer.

How Pathetic Is This ?

Quite. If one were to ask me, the local police ought to stake out any stores selling this contraption and arresting anyone leaving with it, or a least following them around for a spell to see what other likely dangerous behavior anyone needing a robotic love toy might be involved in.

Of coarse I'm kidding to a degree. But in all seriousness, anyone that can derive psychological pleasure from kissing a little 15 inch robot, (as is pictured here and described in the posted article about a goofy gadget being manufactured in Japan), needs some serious mental health attention and fast.

We all know physical pleasure can be and frequently is achieved with the aid of mechanical devices, mostly by women, but this little thing designed for lonely men is truly sad and incredibly pathetic beyond belief.

Just looking at the enthusiastic way in which the article's author and toy's designer describes this little toy gives me the willies, it makes me think they might be either wanting and needing one themselves and soon, or is being paid to write the article in such a sad way!!

And here I thought the blow up doll thing circa Bud Bundy of Married With Children was pretty sick when used in real life by whoever might need such a device, just wait 'til the robotic versions start popping up around the world, truly sad and scary where technology is being applied.

She claims that the day was quite exasperating and demanding, which isn't that hard to believe but exactly how that becomes responsible for her arrest is somewhat of a stretch.

The next day, the regular teacher returned and the students reported what happened. The school's resource officer learned Kodros had a warrant for failing to appear at a court hearing related to a derelict vehicle in Alton, and also that her drivers license was suspended due to a drunken driving conviction, McLemore said.

Madison County court records show that the warrant was issued in October 2003.

Kodros, who lives in the small Calhoun County town of Kampsville, then returned to substitute teach on Thursday. When authorities learned she was in school, she was arrested during a second-hour class, McLemore said." continued

My Way News - "WICHITA, Kan. (AP) - Authorities are considering charges in the bizarre case of a woman who sat on her boyfriend's toilet for two years - so long that her body was stuck to the seat by the time the boyfriend finally called police.

Ness County Sheriff Bryan Whipple said it appeared the 35-year-old Ness City woman's skin had grown around the seat. She initially refused emergency medical services but was finally convinced by responders and her boyfriend that she needed to be checked out at a hospital.

'We pried the toilet seat off with a pry bar and the seat went with her to the hospital,' Whipple said. 'The hospital removed it.'

Whipple said investigators planned to present their report Wednesday to the county attorney, who will determine whether any charges should be filed against the woman's 36-year-old boyfriend.

'She was not glued. She was not tied. She was just physically stuck by her body,' Whipple said. 'It is hard to imagine. ... I still have a hard time imagining it myself.'

He told investigators he brought his girlfriend food and water, and asked her every day to come out of the bathroom.

'And her reply would be, 'Maybe tomorrow,'' Whipple said. 'According to him, she did not want to leave the bathroom.'
The boyfriend called police on Feb. 27 to report that "there was something wrong with his girlfriend," Whipple said, adding that he never explained why it took him two years to call.

Police found the clothed woman sitting on the toilet, her sweat pants down to her mid-thigh. She was "somewhat disoriented," and her legs looked like they had atrophied, Whipple said.

"She said that she didn't need any help, that she was OK and did not want to leave," he said.

She was reported in fair condition at a hospital in Wichita, about 150 miles southeast of Ness City. Whipple said she has refused to cooperate with medical providers or law enforcement investigators.

Authorities said they did not know if she was mentally or physically disabled.

Police have declined to release the couple's names, but the house where authorities say the incident happened is listed in public records as the residence of Kory McFarren. No one answered his home phone number.

The case has been the buzz of Ness City, said James Ellis, a neighbor.

"I don't think anybody can make any sense out of it," he said.

Ellis said he had known the woman since she was a child but that he had not seen her for at least six years.

He said she had a tough childhood after her mother died at a young age and apparently was usually kept inside the house as she grew up. At one time the woman worked for a long-term care facility, he said, but he did not know what kind of work she did there.

"It really doesn't surprise me," Ellis said. "What surprises me is somebody wasn't called in a bit earlier."

In the day and age of the internet, our illustrious Congress members spent the equivalent of a small nation's yearly military budget on junk mail this year. Our money out the window along with who knows how many poor trees were sacrificed for this incredulous waste of money, and if it was just one it was too many in my opinion.

Every single piece of litter from congress I've ever received goes directly to the recycle bin in my household, and I'm quite sure I wouldn't be the only one choosing that destination for consumer advice and personal bragging about what they supposedly accomplished from Congressmen and women, and that was before the advent of the internet.

I do think the time has now come to take up this wasteful spending with the pork kings in Washington I would argue.

These Women Should Be Publicly Named & Shamed

Journal Drops Fees For Electronic Version

This is good news that'll save me a few bucks a month and I also like this decision by Rupert Murdoch as I like to read and would have liked to link to the Wall Street Journal Online on occasions before for this blog, but don't very often since most don't have a subscription to continue reading the linked story.

So I think this is a good move. Even the New York Times brought their columnists out from under the pay to play scenario as they discovered that even the die hard libs wouldn't pay to read Frank Rich and Maureen Dowd along with their other columnists recently.

Chairman Rupert Murdoch said Tuesday he intends to make access to The Wall Street Journal's Web site free, dropping subscription fees in exchange for anticipated ad revenue. Not Much Sympathy Here I'm Sorry To Say

As most news followers know, today is the THIRD day the US stagehands union members and producers have gone on strike and have caused Broadway shows to be canceled which is coinciding with a writers strike in Hollywood blogged about here as well in the entertainment industry.

As for the average blue collar working stagehand, they can make a pretty comfy $110,000 a year, equal to the average salary for a person who has obtained a doctorate degree, and yet that's not enough for them while the average American squeezes by on a paltry $48.000 per year. doing similar work in different fields....poor babies.

Stagehands fall into four wage categories. The highest-paid, like head carpenters and electricians, currently earn a minimum of $1,600 a week on a running show; stagehands in the lowest-paid category make a minimum of around $1,225. With overtime, additional work assignments and certain premium payments, wages can end up being quite a bit higher for 80 minutes a week of work according to ABC Radio Monday am.

Anybody feeling sorry for them yet? I sure don't I'm afraid.

Don't get me wrong, as I'm all for any and all Americans making absolutely as much income as they possibly can legally, but I would consider $100.000 plus dollars plus hefty benefits a very fair income for that job description and it looks like others feel the same way or they wouldn't have to go on strike to get what they think they are worth.

They better not get too greedy, or as they say, there are people out there that would line up a mile long or longer to get one of these great jobs.

State lawmaker makes "Buckwheat" reference

HoumaToday.com | The Courier | Houma, LA: "HOUMA - State Rep. Carla Dartez, D-Morgan City, said she is mulling withdrawl from the Nov. 17 runoff race after NAACP president Jerome Boykin says she referred to his mother as 'Buckwheat.' The incident came out during Boykin's radio show on KBZE, FM 105.9. During a telephone conversation with The Daily Comet, Dartez denies any racist meaning or intent.

But Boykin said he sees the reference as a slur. Buckwheat is a reference to a black Little Rascals character."Dartez acknowledges that during the conversation she was thanking Boykin's mother for voluntarily driving voters to the polls on election day, Oct. 20.

Dartez is in a runoff for House District 51 with Joe Harrison, a Republican from Napoleonville. The two won the most votes in the Oct. 20 general election. House District 51 runs through Assumption and St. Mary parishes and picks up most of western Terrebonne.

At the end of the conversation, Dartez allegedly said, "Talk to you later, Buckwheat."

In response, Boykin said he will no longer endorse Dartez for the state Legislature.

"No way I'm going to sit back and not do anything," Boykin said.

What Will The Poor Liberals Do?

When the Hollywood writers Guild strike starts Monday all their favorite "news" shows have no writers ...(that being of coarse Leno, Letterman, Stewart and Colbert) so they might actually have to turn to reading for a change, like the Daily Kos and Huffington Post, along with the alphabet network's mostly slanted offerings in order to get the daily news that they usually get from those above mentioned outlets.

What A Bummer.......... for them.

All the best entertainment from Hollywood has already been produced in the years past as far as I'm concerned, so this strike is of absolutely no consequence to me and probably lots of other fed up conservative families as well I'll bet.

Fortunately my favorite TV shows along with many other Americans (the best TV ever made for the most part from about 40 years ago except my very favorite sitcom Seinfeld) are; Old SNL ReRuns from 70's thru the 90's, Andy Griffith, All in The Family, Leave it To Beaver, and a collection of DVD's representing great movies from our past ending at about 1996.

They can shut down Hollywood for eternity as far as I'm concerned, since they turn out nothing but garbage these days in the first place. In addition, since they've recently decided to take up arms with America's enemies around the world I simply have no use for their products any longer, so they're history in most of my family and our circle of friends. Adios.

More European Socialized Health Care Nightmares

Socialism has always been for the most part a failure whenever and wherever it's been introduced throughout the world and it's history , always succumbing to democracy in some form or another, so why would anyone expect socialized health care being touted by the democrats and being utilized in Canada, Britain and other European countries to be any different.

Seems more and more people are so sick and tired of the British NHS system run by the government that they are leaving the country in droves to obtain medical care that they have to either wait forever to receive or cannot get at all in their home country.

Thanks but no thanks Hillary, I'll stick with my present plans and situation thank you.

Officials: Major California Wildfire Declared Arson

Fox News: SAN DIEGO — A major wildfire that has scorched thousands of acres and destroyed hundreds of homes in Southern California has been declared an arson, according to Orange County law enforcement and FBI officials said on Wednesday.

FBI: al-Qaeda detainee spoke of fire plot

USATODAY.com - : "PHOENIX (AP) — The FBI alerted law enforcement agencies last month that an al-Qaeda terrorist now in detention had talked of masterminding a plot to set a series of devastating forest fires around the western United States. Rose Davis, a spokeswoman for the National Interagency Fire Center in Boise, told The Associated Press that officials there took note of the warning but didn't see a need to act further on it."

That sounds familiar doesn't it? (pre September 11 thinking continues in Washington)

The contents of the June 25 memo from the FBI's Denver office were reported Friday by The Arizona Republic. Davis declined to share a copy of the memo and an FBI spokeswoman in Denver didn't immediately return a telephone call.

The Republic reported that the detainee, who was not identified, said the plan involved three or four people setting wildfires using timed devices in Colorado, Montana, Utah and Wyoming that would detonate in forests and grasslands after the operatives had left the country.

The memo noted that investigators couldn't determine whether the detainee was telling the truth.

The newspaper said many forest law enforcement officers it contacted had no idea the warning had been issued.

I thought about this type plot as I'm sure many others have quite a while ago, and after seeing these fires out west this week begin so earnestly, the thought entered my mind that these particular fires might have been set in this way. No matter what, any forest fires being set in that fashion (by terrorists) is something very hard if not impossible to combat.

I'm not convinced that these fires were not intentional and would like to think they are , but it might be dangerous not to look at the possibility they are being set by terrorists from time to time. It sure isn't that hard to do and easy to get away with it seems.

Unless we are somehow able to one day account for every single person inside the country at all times this risk remains out there, particularly the ones that might have a propensity to act on such an act of violence like these fires or any other (like keeping our eyes on all middle eastern males not born in the US between the ages of 18 and 50 for starters) which of coarse we sure can't right now, and may never be able to do, thanks to those of us out there that would rather have terrorists freely walking undetected amongst us in the name of privacy and political correctness run amuck.
