The Alaska governor's last-minute appearance at the GOP's biggest fundraiser of the year ended 24 hours of speculation that the she might skip the event. A late attempt to have her speak at the dinner fell through when organizers feared she might upstage Gingrich, the onetime House speaker.

Our Candidate Rosanna Pulido Up Against That Same Old Dem Machine In The Chitown 5th District Race

Primary day for the special election coming up in Chicago is on this Tuesday, the third of March, and hopefully my favorite pick for the republican candidate in the heavily weighted dem stonghold, Rosanna Pulido will be victorious in her quest to become congresswoman of her home turf. However she has a large pack of those same old same tired machine politico's on the left and some other decent candidates on the right who are all vying for the same seat, although she is the only candidate on both sides that is a lifelong resident of the 5th district in question..

The rest are all outsiders looking to use the famous launching pad for ambitious dem national wannabe's, (just like the previous holders of the seat most recently held by Dead Fish Emmanuel that is in play) so they too can become lifelong porkers at the public earmark trough. Famously digging their snouts in the slop also known as the public treasury so maybe they too one day can lie and cheat their way straight into the white house just like the current temporary occupant, Hussein Obama.

So if you are a Chicago resident please make sure to cast your all important vote on Tuesday to get some fresh citizen representation of the people by the people for the people in Washington Rosanna Pulido represents, instead of those full time lifer's on both sides of the same old political pigpen who could care less about that district and it's residents, and only care about advancing their personal political ambitions.

5th District race in final lap, will be close call

Chicagotribune.com: "The competitiveness of the Democratic race to replace Rahm Emanuel in Congress was on display Saturday as candidates crisscrossed the North and Northwest Sides to glad hand at bowling alleys, throughout the Bungalow Belt and even on Irish radio shows.

As Cook County Commissioner Mike Quigley arrived at the Waveland Bowl, there on Western Avenue sat a giant sign for state Rep. John Fritchey (D-Chicago), a competitor in Tuesday's special primary election.

With many of the dozen Democrats, six Republicans and five Green Party candidates fanning out across the 5th Congressional District for the final weekend push before decision day, it was easy enough for them to trip over each other.

"It's neck-and-neck in this race and I'm freaking out," confessed Greg Bales, 24, a field organizer for state Rep. Sara Feigenholtz (D-Chicago), as he gave instructions to a group of about 50 volunteers ready to go door-to-door in Portage Park.

The district, which leans heavily Democratic, stretches from Lake Michigan to suburbs near O'Hare International Airport, encompassing both Northwest Side blue collar neighborhoods and the Gold Coast.

A mad dash for the seat started late last year when Emanuel, who had represented the district since 2003, left to become White House chief of staff for President Barack Obama. The contest turned negative in recent days, with Feigenholtz launching a TV ad trying to paint Quigley as a supporter of County Board President Todd Stroger.

The crowd of Feigenholtz supporters was heavy on workers represented by the Service Employees International Union, including the group's Illinois president, Tom Balanoff.

"We need a fighter for us right now," Balanoff told the group. "We're going to bring this home on Tuesday."

Quigley spent his day going door-to-door, meeting with Latino voters in Melrose Park, visiting seniors and shaking hands at the bowling alley, where off-duty police officers rolled in a charity tournament.

"There is nothing more important than voter contact," he said. "You don't want to leave anything out there untouched."

Fritchey got support from more than 200 union laborers, grocery store workers, bricklayers, sheet metal workers, truck drivers, heavy machinery operators and machinists who knocked on Northwest Side doors.

After a pep talk, Fritchey went door-to-door to appeal to voters in the Roscoe Village neighborhood, where many recognized him as their longtime state representative.

"Turnout is going to be low, so we got to get everyone out there," he told several voters on Eddy Street. A woman on the next block told Fritchey that Quigley had knocked on her door earlier in the day.

Ald. Patrick O'Connor (40th) campaigned at two Irish radio shows and a St. Patrick's dinner dance at a church near the city limits on the Northwest Side.

Clad in an emerald green sports coat, O'Connor gave an interview to a WCEV-AM 1450 host who spoke with a brogue. Besides answering questions about the economy, education, Immigration and U.S. Sen. Roland Burris (D-Ill.), O'Connor told listeners about his father's successes in Gaelic football before coming to America.

"Does the name help out at all?" asked host Sean Ginnelly, laughing at the propensity of Chicago voters to disproportionately choose candidates with Irish surnames.

"I've always been proud of it, so I don't hide from it for sure," O'Connor replied. "My dad's from Killarney and my mom's folks are from Mayo."

"Good background," said Ginnelly, a native of County Mayo.

Labor lawyer Tom Geoghegan, meanwhile, spent Saturday walking precincts, making phone calls and attending a coffee reception at the home of a supporter.

Mitt Romney Takes the CPAC Straw Poll

Its just too bad that we didn' t Romney or Thompson or even Giuliani as our pick last November although my personal favorite was always Duncan Hunter who is just about the only true Reagan conservative still alive and still in politics.

Romney has the money to keep himself relevant over the next few years and after Obama finishes decimating the US capitalist private sector the country will be begging for a financial wiz lik Romney to take the reigns from the Dimwit Dems socialist grab that's going to banish them to the wandering the wilderness for the next 40 years like they just got out of.

I would love to see a Romney Jindahl or a Romney Palin ticket if the country is still standing 4 years from now and is still a Democratic Republic and not a full blown Marxist regime after Obama gets done .

Romney wins CPAC straw poll -

David Mark - POLITICO.com: In one of the opening skirmishes in the long – and almost certainly bloody – GOP battle for the 2012 nomination, former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney won the annual Conservative Political Action Convention straw poll Saturday.

While hardly a scientific poll, the CPAC straw vote offers early insight into conservatives’ thinking as Republicans find themselves shut out of power in the White House and Congress for the first time in 16 years. And Romney's victory will give some credence to growing sentiment that he has quietly put himself in strong position for the 2012 contest after losing to John McCain last year.

Romney took 20 percent of the vote, followed by Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal with 14 percent, Texas Rep. Ron Paul with 13 percent, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin with 13 percent, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich with 10 percent and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee with 7 percent. Others on the ballot included South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford, Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty and Florida Gov. Charlie Crist. Nine percent were undecided.

With no unifying Republican figure to rally around after the desultory 2008 elections, the straw poll results reflect tensions among conservatives about how best to oppose the Obama Administration’s agenda – through openly wishing for failure, a sentiment voiced recently by talk show host Rush Limbaugh, or working with the new president at a time when the American public seek a larger role for government amid the deepening recession.

Neither Palin or Jindal were in attendance at the CPAC conference, which likely had an impact on their showings.

CPAC organizers suggested the straw poll also aimed to gauge conservatives’ views on issue positions Republicans should adopt in the coming years. The straw poll gathered participants’ views on matters like the wisdom of “establishing direct U.S. dialogue with countries like Iran and groups like Hamas.”

Still, attendees very much had 2012 on their minds.

Matt Lewis, a conservative writer for AOL’s “Political Machine” said he wanted to back Gingrich, but doesn’t think the former speaker will actually run in 2012. So he went for Palin instead.

“Whether it’s Jindal, Romney or Palin, there are quality conservative candidates that I would be excited to support,” Lewis said. “At this moment, she’s as close as we get to a frontrunner and national leader.”

“I think she’s a solid conservative. I was a huge supporter of her during the presidential campaign. I think she’s the fresh face that offers change, but conservative change,” Lewis said. “I also think she learned a lot of lessons on the campaign trail last time. I know some people think she might not have preformed as well as she might have, but that’s part of her education.”

CPAC balloting is only a crude barometer of Republican sentiment three years ahead of the next GOP presidential primary scrum. Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney claimed the mantle the last two years, but foundered in his presidential bid. In fact he used his 2008 CPAC speech to drop out of the race even as he edged out eventual GOP nominee John McCain. And the 2006 winner was then-Virginia Republican Sen. George Allen, who took 22 percent of the votes cast. Allen was defeated by Democrat Jim Webb that November and has since largely disappeared from the political scene.

Rank-and-file conservatives attending the convention suggested the 2012 race is still wide open. Ernie Simmons, owner of Diener Consultants, in Lancaster, Pa., said he voted for Jindal, though he liked the other candidates. He said the Louisiana governor would best protect gun rights, one of the main focuses of his marketing firm.

“I like Palin, but I don’t know how she could possibly survive” a one-on-one race against Obama. “I like Huckabee a lot. But he might be too soft to win. Jindal’s the future.”

Jenna Robinson, a graduate student in North Carolina, who works at the Raleigh-based John William Pope Center for Higher Education, said she voted for Ron Paul. The libertarian-leaning lawmaker has been proven right about the nation’s precarious financial situation, she said.

“I feel like he’s the candidate most likely to stick to his convictions on individual liberty.”

Limbaugh Rallies Conservatives to Fight Democrats, Find 'Right Candidate'

Presidential Politics | Political News - FOXNews.com: Rush Limbaugh was 15 minutes early to the stage, but no one was complaining Saturday evening in Washington, D.C., at the Conservative Political Action Conference.

Quite the contrary. On the conference's third and final day, the conservative talk radio host was the headliner, and the crowd greeted him with an immense ovation.

"Ladies and gentleman, this is my first ever address to the nation," Limbaugh joked, noting that FOX News and C-SPAN were broadcasting the speech live.

Limbaugh then spent his first 15 minutes giving an impassioned summary of what it means to be a conservative before turning the focus to the movement's recent electoral record.

"We can take this country back. All we need is to nominate the right candidate," he said.

The speech was the culmination of an event that featured often fiery speeches by some of top names of the conservative movement and the Republican party, including former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, former GOP presidential candidate Mike Huckabee and conservative commendator Ann Coulter.

Earlier Saturday, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, another failed GOP candidate, won his third straight presidential straw poll at the annual conference, edging out Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, Rep. Ron Paul and Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin. Florida Gov. Charlie Crist, who expressed support for President Obama's $787 economic stimulus plan, finished last of the 10 named choices.

The straw poll is not binding. Romney won last year by 35 percent over Sen. John McCain, Huckabee and Paul, though McCain later was nominated by the GOP.

It may have surprised some in attendance at the event to hear Limbaugh praising President Obama -- at least at first.

Despite mocking Obama's regular use of a teleprompter, Limbaugh called the president "one of the most gifted politicians, one of the most gifted men I have ever witnessed. He has extraordinary talent."

But, he added, "It just breaks my heart that he has not used that extraordinary talent and gift to motivate and inspire the American people to be the best that they can be. He's doing just the opposite."

Limbaugh didn't hold back for most of the rest of his speech in skewering liberals, Democrats and the new president on a wide ranges of issues, including Obama's massively costly stimulus package and budget plan.

"It's not new. It's not change. And it's not hope," he said.

Obama is still in the "honeymoon phase," Limbaugh said, but conservatives shouldn't get discouraged.

"We are not quitting. We are not giving up," he said. "The country is too important."

America's Toughest Sheriff Calls Rosanna "A Great Representative"

Joe Arpaio, Maricopa County Sheriff and a legendary voice for border security, has endorsed Rosanna Pulido for Congress in the Illinois Fifth District. Arpaio noted Pulido's long-term grassroots activism for seniors, law enforcement officers, and the economy, saying "Rosanna is thoroughly involved and committed to do all that she can to help our nation get through this very difficult economic decline."

"I am delighted to accept the endorsement of America's Toughest Sheriff," Pulido said. Super Tuesday in Illinois Today

I did my duty at 6 am this morning stepping into the local voting facility and pulling the lever for the lesser of the evils this year, as my choices for president have long left the race, they being Duncan Hunter and Fred Thompson.

So therefore I've since chosen to put my support behind Mitt Romney in the primary today, even though in this neck of the woods democrats and mainly Barack Obama will be the talk and the focus of everything media today with all the favorite son crap surrounding his candidacy for president here in liberal Illinois.

He in fact is the very reason Illinois' primary was moved up this year by our dead weight Illinois legislature as the normal March 15th date they felt would leave Illinois as moot by that time thus making the state a bit more relevant in the grand scheme of things according to them.

But throughout the presidential primaries, John McCain and Rudy Giuliani have been quietly working to garner what little support there is in showbiz for conservative politicians.

A little bit of Tinseltown glitter goes a long way — just ask Mike Huckabee, who has been milking support from 1980s action star and Internet humor icon Chuck Norris for all it’s worth.

(Mr. Texas Ranger even played attack dog for the former Arkansas governor Sunday by making pointed remarks about McCain’s age and health.)

On the whole, Democratic candidates far outpace their GOP rivals when it comes to Hollywood money.

But among Republicans, at least, McCain and Giuliani were nearly tied in campaign contributions from entertainment business leaders, according to the latest campaign finance reports."As of late October, the senator from Arizona had received $390,925 from PACs and individuals in the television, movie and music industries, compared with Giuliani’s $379,126, according to the Center for Responsive Politics.

On Jan. 31, immediately following the GOP debate at the Ronald Reagan library, McCain will headline a fundraiser at the home of MGM Chairman and CEO Harry Sloan.

A favorite of veteran entertainment and media moguls, McCain has received donations from Jerry Bruckheimer, Barry Diller, Kirk Kerkorian, Richard Parsons, Lorne Michaels and Brad Grey, and from a handful of character actors including Rip Torn and Dick Van Patten. “McCain’s support in Hollywood goes back to the 2000 election, when he had so much backing from independents, and then in 2004, due to his friendship with John Kerry,” said Sloan.

“Those two events gave him a positive image with the Hollywood community. If anything, he’s seen as ‘the tolerable Republican’ to a lot of the Democrats and liberals here. I seldom hear anybody say anything negative about John, even though they probably disagree with him on a majority of the issues.”

Still, it appears that Giuliani has far more on-screen A-List star power behind him.

Actors Adam Sandler, Kelsey Grammer and Robert Duvall have all weighed in for the former New York mayor, along with Brad Grey and “24” producer Joel Surnow. (Duvall held a fundraiser for Giuliani at his Virginia horse country home.)

Watching him take apart the Dems sitting in the room yesterday eloquently during the hearing the other day further showed me that this man has what it takes, except for the popularity to get the exposure from the MSM needed to be elected across Republican lines.

'People treat politicians sort of like the dentist -- they don't have anything to do with them till they have to,' he said. 'I wasn't in the room when they made the rules, so I had to kind of follow my own lead,' Thompson said, adding that he doubts voters will say: 'That guy would make a very good president, but he didn?t get in soon enough.'"

Yesterday, 64 United States Senators – including two of my opponents for the Republican presidential nomination, Sam Brownback and John McCain -- voted to move the Bush-Kennedy-McCain Amnesty bill forward.

When those 64 Senators cast their “aye” votes, they betrayed the trust of the American people and the security of the United States. It really is that simple!

I am absolutely disgusted at the arrogance of those Senators who freely disregard the will of the American people by their support of massive amnesty for illegal aliens. They have willfully ignored the mistakes of the 1986 amnesty bill, in order to feed the corporate special interests and appease the Hispanic lobby!

If this miserable legislation makes it out of the Senate, I pledge to you that I will move heaven and earth to stop it in the House of Representatives. I beat amnesty out of the last bill that passed the House in December 2005, which was a good “enforcement only” measure. I am ready to lead the charge again!

First, please call your United States Senators again today and tell them how strongly you oppose any bill that grants amnesty to illegal aliens. Your phone calls are the reason yesterday’s procedural vote was so close, which means we have a decent shot at killing this beast in the next few days, if we can just keep up the pressure!

Downside of A Fred Thompson Campaign ?

Not if you ask me, but millions of other Americans will be very bummed apparently if Fred decides to run as a goofy law that most people outside of political / news /blogger junkies like myself are unaware of will cause Law & Order to be pulled from re runs it seems. (Oh No. Mr Bill..lol)

This I'm certain is also a major consideration of his while pondering whether or not to go forward with this president project, as you can bet his co stars and the shows' executives are giving him the business about the possibility of them being yanked off the air for 10 or 12 months you can rest assured.

CNN Acknowledges Paul Support Like Spam

I said this in a post the other day after the Republican debate, that this phenomenon is just left wing loons spamming forums and boards attempting to make it appear their candidate is viable when in fact he's not and his support is very limited, although he keeps barking away and reminds me alot of Ross Perot. It ain't gonna happen folks..

This is just like the Spam generated by the Dem Underground crews & the Daily Kos Kids as well as the right wing Free Republic freeping, which is not nearly as egregious as the dem side spam .

CNN actually had to shut down the linked to blog below as a result of the spammage of their polls. I even have that problem on this blog with Paul Freaks who simply are making their candidate be dismissed by their over enthusiastic polls spamming. Remember the boy that cried wolf.

Not to mention his conspiracy theory attitude on display in I think the first debate when Giuliani had to put him in his place making that blame America call that he did that night.

The Republican Debate

It sure was refreshing hearing people address America's real problems as opposed to watching the Dems beat up on the past, debate Homosexual needs and wants (with the exception of the Wolfie's obligatory homosexual agenda question addressed to Ron "Kookie" Paul regarding the military "don't ask...." policy) Which then brings me to this observation regarding Paul:

We now know it is indeed the Dems who are behind the phantom support for this guy after all the attention payed to him by Wolfie during the debate. Never has a third tier "Ross Perot type" retread been given a platform like he was last night on CNN.

He was given more floor time than almost any candidate other than the top 4 or 5 front runners in my opinion, which verifies that they are pulling the "support puppet strings" from behind the scenes on the internet and you tube, thus giving his "candidacy" the faked appearance of legitimacy to confuse "go with the pack"sheeple type conservative voters as if he's the hot candidate to beat. Not here buddy. .

Hot Air as usual has had good coverage and participation of these past two debates on CNN, from the top tier bloggers running it to the people commenting there during and afterwards including myself(lol).. I do suggest checking it out during the next few if you haven't already for real time participation if you are indeed registered to comment over there . If not just read and watching is well worth your time as well.

From the headline by the way one would think Bush was the main topic of conversation, which is downright wrong and misleading.

President Bush's name was invoked only 7 times in the Republican debate as opposed to double that in the Democratic debate according to Anderson Cooper. Can anyone say liberal AP & MSM bias?

The Difference A Network Makes

The last debate I skipped due to the presentation being handled by MSNBC and known Republican & Right Wing antagonists Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann, strangely being tapped to host the festivities was akin to asking Bill Clinton to give a keynote speech at a GOP awards dinner.

Fox proved last night that there is a reason they are the most watched cable news outlet by providing a more watchable debate handled by news professionals asking news related questions, with the only drawback still being the number of candidates participating. A far cry from the MSNBC offering last week.

This number should at least drop by one after the tin hat performance offered in the form of a blame America for 9-11 answer to a question by man in the wrong party Ron Paul, who after that remark should be removed from the list of participants from this point forward. His invitation simply takes up valuable time better spent on real candidates with real chances of becoming the nominee, and obviously he isn't one of them.

Rudy Guiliani quickly poured water on Paul's conspiracy & blame America answer, drawing loud applause from the crowd who had been asked politely to refrain from such during the debate to allow more time for the candidates. All in all it offered an hour and a half of good questioning responded to with mostly good answers and some bad from all the candidates.

There's still a ways to go yet so we like you will keep on watching and keep on listening, to most of them that is.

GOP Hopefuls Debate Abortion, Tax Cuts

Last Night's Debate Winners & Losers

I personally did not watch the debates as this crowded field is so premature that I considered it to be a loser from the start for the viewers because it was being hosted by MSNBC and moderated by two known conservative haters like Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann.

Judging from comments and reviews I've read I was right and didn't particularly lose out on anything yet, although I will pay closer attention to the debates in the future once they are narrowed down to not include half the republican party being asked ridiculous questions by liberal moderators that hate the current president and America for the most part.
