She made the slip-up Wednesday while introducing Jackson during a segment on homelessness. After the introduction, Jackson stared at the camera from a studio in Burbank, Calif., and said, 'I'm Rev. Jesse Jackson.'

Brewer explained that her script read that she was to introduce 'the Rev. Al Sharpton.'

Good Old Liberal Intolerance Strikes Again, This Time on TV

This a good post at American Spectator regarding our liberal friends and their absolute intolerance of Americans hearing any opinions and ideas of any but theirs via network television or anywhere else for that matter.

This time their intolerance is being displayed towards the now red hot Glenn Beck of Fox News.

As the big networks cable offerings and the old Lefty favorite CNN get their asses constantly kicked by Fox News across the board in prime time and elsewhere, they're constantly looking at alternative ways of slowing down the news network. Which happens to be the only one that simply gives far more Americans what they wish to see, and that's some anti Obama news coverage built on the truth, unlike the others who are simply propaganda arms of the left and the radical Obama administration.

I watch 'em all and the leftward Obama loving slant on 9 out of 10 of these cable and network outlets renders them nearly intolerable much of the time in this office and household as most of you know as does the Nielsen Rating company week after week.

NBC wants Fox competitor Glenn Beck fired.

Chuck Todd and company at NBC News are outraged that conservative talker Beck won't --or can't-- be fired for calling President Obama a 'racist.' They blogged as follows:

**The White House doesn't want to give Glenn Beck a bigger platform or extra oxygen -- especially regarding his remark yesterday that the president has "a deep-seated hatred for white people or the white culture" -- so they won't comment, even off record.

Beck, after all, is a radio DJ who somehow ended up getting a national platform to give his opinion on politics. What's most amazing about this episode is that what Beck said isn't a fireable or even a SUSPENDABLE offense by his bosses.

There was a time when outrageous rants like this would actually cost the ranters their jobs. But not anymore; if anything, it's now encouraged. And all of this could turn ACTUAL journalists into the next Howard Beales.

It's getting nuts that the folks who are creating the perception of an ideological/polarized media world are people who have never really spent their lives being journalists. Whether it's former political consultants-turned-TV execs or former radio DJs, or former California socialites, the folks helping to accelerate the public's perception of the media off a cliff made their livings trying to do other things. Of course, Beck's crazy language could have one unintended consequence: It could cost him bookings with any Republicans who want to be popular outside Beck's hard-core bizarro-land viewers. WSJ Best of the Web Yesterday "Does Obama Scare Osama?

The media bias even extends to whether or not the either dead or alive Osama is more scared of George Bush or the The Chameleon Muslim Obama.

Before making such a ridiculous comparison from the Associated Press I think establishing whether or not he is even alive would be a good start for a supposedly factual news reporting organization, yet not for commentating bloggers like myself who doesn't report the news but simply mock and makes commentary on those who do or claim to do so in a supposed unbiased fashion...yea right.....

This chunk of bias was caught by James Taranto in his Best of the web column Wednesday/

Best of the Web Today: Does Obama Scare Osama?

- WSJ.com:"A double blast from al Qaeda against Barack Obama shows the group is as worried as ever by the persuasive skills of the U.S. president, who makes a speech to Muslims on Thursday," Reuters "reports" from London:

Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, in an audio recording aired on Wednesday by Al Jazeera television, said Obama had planted the seeds of "revenge and hatred" towards the United States in the Muslim world and he warned Americans to prepare for the consequences.

A day earlier, the militant network's second-in-command Ayman al-Zawahri urged Egyptians not to be seduced by Obama's 'polished words' when he makes a major address in Cairo seeking to repair ties with the Muslim world.

When we read this, we suspected bias. After all, al Qaeda often attacked George W. Bush, but did Reuters portray this as a sign of the American president's strength and bin Laden's fear of his "persuasive skills"?

Then again, would it really be worth our time to comb through the archives in order to prove something so obvious--to answer what is essentially a rhetorical question?

Fortunately, we didn't have to! Reuters confirmed our suspicion in the next paragraph of this very dispatch:

For some, al Qaeda's concerted attempt to upstage Obama is a propaganda own goal that shows its normally media-savvy operatives in disarray following the departure of Obama's predecessor George W. Bush. They found Bush easy to stereotype as a belligerent, Muslim-hating cowboy.

This is a good opportunity to remind readers of one of Taranto's Laws of Journalism: When it appears in a news story, the word some is a first-person pronoun.

RUN OUT OF TIMES

- New York Post: "The family that controls The New York Times empire has lost more than 86 percent of its fortune and may have sell their controlling stake to get out of debt.

The Ochs-Sulzberger family, which has run the venerable paper since 1896, may also face unusual pressure from about two dozen descendants to cash out and restore their comfortable lifestyles snatched away suddenly by hard times.

Until this year, the family had been living on wealth valued as high as $425 million. But today the family is down in their Times' annual income to a paltry $4.5 million, which could shrink even more in the recession.

Soaring losses amid a devastating media slump have drained much of the corporate cash, pushed the company deeper into debt of $1.3 billion and beckoned a stock vulture to its door -- Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim, who this year bailed out the Times with a high-interest $250 million loan that also threatens family control.

Slim, already the second-largest owner of Times common stock, is poised to become the biggest Times shareholder of common stock because he's allowing his loan to be repaid in six years with stock -- either from the family's main trust or a weakened corporate treasury.

If the first year's payment of $47.5 million, due in nine months, is made in stock in lieu of scarce cash, it would soak up a whopping 7.9 million shares -- based on a current price of around $6. At that depressed stock price, it would take about 48 million shares to repay Slim's IOUs.

However, the family trust holds just 8.9 million common and super-voting shares. At that pace of using stock to eliminate debt, most of the shares of both classes available to the family and the Times could be depleted soon, especially since the Times halted its stock buyback program more than a year ago.

Since 2003, it has bought back 12 million shares for its treasury, some of which were used to pay employee bonuses and options.

Just four months ago, the family lost its biggest single source of steady cash from the company -- a 92-cent annual dividend paying nearly $8 million on shares the family trust holds. The family's stock fortune also crashed this year from a high of $411.5 million four years earlier to a low in February of just $30.8 million, rendering it virtually useless to borrow against or pledge in other money-making ventures.

Eight family members continue to work at the company or serve on its board, bringing in total annual paychecks of $4.5 million -- currently the family's only reported source of company income -- which itself is down by nearly half in the last two years.

The biggest breadwinner, Chairman Arthur "Pinch" Sulzberger, 57, saw his $100,500 dividend checks disappear when dividends got canceled earlier this year. His other compensation for running the company got slashed to $2.4 million in 2008, down from $4.4 million in 2006.

Well today I'm in decent company as Bill O'Reilly's column is dedicated to the soon to be death of the Slimes and as I said with state that once proud American paper who's motto was "All the news fit to print" and known as the paper of record has become even lower than bird cage liner and is finally washed up just like every liberal run business and city across the nation today all going belly up for one reason and one reason only.

Liberalism is the stuff of dreams and doesn't work in the real world, never did and never will.

The End of Times?
The Patriot WWTC Minneapolis-St. Paul: "The nation's largest left-wing newspaper and the bible for network news producers and bookers may be going under. This week, The New York Times announced more staggering losses: nearly $75 million dollars in the first quarter alone. The New York Post is reporting that the Times Company owes more than $1 billion and has just $34 million in the bank.

A few months ago, the company borrowed $250 million from Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim at a reported 14 percent interest rate. With things going south fast, pardon the pun, Slim might want to put in a call to Times publisher Arthur Sulzberger Jr."

The spin from Sulzberger is that the Internet is strangling the newspaper industry, and there is some truth to that. Why read an ideologically crazed paper when you can acquire a variety of information on your computer? But other papers are not suffering nearly as much as the Times, so there must be more to it.

There is no question that the Times has journalistic talent. This week the paper won five Pulitzers. It's true that the Pulitzer people favor left-wing operations (the past eight Pulitzer Prizes for commentary have gone to liberal writers), but New York Times journalists often do good reporting.

The problem is that under Sulzberger and executive editor Bill Keller, the Times has gone crazy left, attacking those with whom the paper disagrees and demonstrating a hatred for conservatives (particularly President Bush) that is almost pathological. The Times features liberal columnists in every section of the paper, and they hit low, often using personal invective to smear perceived opponents.

That unfair and unbalanced approach has alienated a large number of readers and advertisers. According to a recent Fox News/Opinion Dynamics Poll, 46 percent of Americans define themselves as conservative. Just 34 percent say they are liberal. In this very intense marketplace, insulting half the country on a daily basis may not be a great business plan.

The Times company also has a major problem with The Boston Globe, which Sulzberger bought back in 1993. That paper is on the verge of bankruptcy and recently told its employees that it will cut their pay and health benefits. Since the Times and the Globe are big on "universal" health care, that caused some giggling in anti-Times precincts.

Over the past few months, newspapers in Chicago, Seattle, Minneapolis and Denver have either folded or filed for bankruptcy. With the exception of The Rocky Mountain News, all the papers were committed left-wing enterprises. The truth is that most Americans are traditional-minded folks. They believe their country is noble; they want respectful discourse. Fanaticism of any kind is not the American way.

The New York Times is most definitely a committed left-wing concern that is openly contemptuous of the conservative, traditional point of view. That is the primary reason the paper may soon dissolve. And all the cash in Carlos Slim's fat wallet is not going to change that.

NYT Co. 1Q losses worsen as ad sales plunge 27 pct

- Yahoo! Finance:"The New York Times Co. fell into a deeper financial hole during the first quarter as the newspaper publisher's advertising revenue plunged 27 percent in an industrywide slump that is reshaping the print media. Its shares dived after the results were released Tuesday."

The owner of The New York Times, The Boston Globe, the International Herald Tribune and 15 other daily newspapers lost $74.5 million, or 52 cents per share, in the opening three months of the year. That compared with a loss of $335,000 at the same time last year, which was break-even on a per-share basis.

The results in the most recent quarter included charges totaling 18 cents per share to cover the costs of jettisoning employees and other one-time accounting measures.

Even with those charges stripped out, the loss was much worse than analysts expected. Analysts surveyed by Thomson Reuters had predicted the New York-based company would lose 4 cents per share.

Revenue for the period dropped 19 percent to $609 million -- about $22 million below the average analyst estimate.

Chief Executive Janet Robinson painted a bleak picture for the spring too, predicting ad revenue will fall in the 20 percent to 30 percent range in the current quarter. The company is being hurt most by lower spending on real estate, automotive, help-wanted and movie ads.

The pain isn't likely to ease until July at the earliest, Robinson said
