Hawks Bring Chicago Hockey In May For The First Time In A Long Time

It's been a long time coming, as the Blackhawks bring Chicago some spring hockey fever for the first time in 13 years with their series win against the Calgary Flames completed with last night's 4-1 win in Calgary last night.

These teams in this town sure know how to go on losing streaks when it comes to post season play, and that's why wins like these are savored a lot more here than many other cities that see these victories come more often then the Chicago faithful in all the sports arenas of this town .

Now it's on to another Canadian city for the Semi finals against the Vancouver Canucks, as hockey fans and others in Chicago now wonder to going into this series not what kind of team they're facing but instead asking "what the fu** is a Canuck anyway"?

The Flames aren't exactly the World Champion Red Wings so the celebration is a bit subdued as the competion goes up a notch in the next series and then even another should they finally meet Detroit most likely in the Finals should they manage to get that far.

Chicago Blackhawks beat Calgary Flames 4-1 -

chicagotribune.com: "CALGARY, Canada -- They're young, they're inexperienced and they're moving on.

The Blackhawks captured their first postseason series victory since 1996 with a 4-1 win over the Calgary Flames in Game 6 of the Western Conference quarterfinals Monday night. The Hawks took the best-of-seven series four games to two and finished off the Flames at the Pengrowth Saddledome for the first win by a road team in the series.

Dustin Byfuglien had a goal and two assists, Patrick Kane had a goal and assist and Adam Burish and Brian Campbell also scored to propel the Hawks and goaltender Nikolai Khabibulin to the victory. It was the fourth consecutive season the Flames have been eliminated in the first round.

The Hawks will next face the Vancouver Canucks in the conference semifinals."
