Just as I was preparing a post for today yesterday to chide and rail on President Bush for not doing the right thing in this case he surprised me and finally took our advice on the right (mine just Friday here) and more specifically the advice of Rush Limbaugh during his Monday show demanding a pardon for the disgraceful conviction of Scooter Libby on a charge for an underlying crime (exposure of undercover status) that was never really committed int hat form and by someone else at that (Richard Armitage)!
He did this to the chagrin of the left of which the lunatic fringe must be simply unraveling over this, I love it. He issued a commutation of the sentence, not a full pardon, that'll just come later when the party's over for Bush in 2008.
I haven't bothered yet to check the usual lib loon whipping posts that were calling for Libby's head and family jewels for months upon months, mostly during Prosecutor Nif.. oops, I mean Patrick Fitzgerald's ridiculous witch hunt over the pathetic Valerie Plame and Joe Wilson non-affair last year.

Again I say way to go Mr President, you've now come back about one quarter of the way towards being forgiven for your nutty and suicidal push for amnesty for the illegals that we crushed last week. Still a long way to go.
Bush Commutes Libby Prison Sentence:A Note for the looney left: Before you cry too loudly remember these little gifts from Slick to a whole county jail's worth of federal inmates:
My Way News - "WASHINGTON (AP) - President Bush spared former White House aide I. Lewis 'Scooter' Libby from a 2 1/2-year prison term in the CIA leak case Monday, delivering a political thunderbolt in a highly charged criminal case. Bush said the sentence was just too harsh. Bush's move came just five hours after a federal appeals panel ruled that Libby could not delay his prison term."
That meant Libby was likely to have to report soon, and it put new pressure on the president, who had been sidestepping calls by Libby's allies to pardon Vice President Dick Cheney's former chief of staff.
"I respect the jury's verdict," Bush said in a statement. "But I have concluded that the prison sentence given to Mr. Libby is excessive. Therefore, I am commuting the portion of Mr. Libby's sentence that required him to spend thirty months in prison."
Bush's decision enraged Democrats and cheered conservatives - though some of the latter wished Bush had granted a full pardon. continued
The lengthy slime covered 140 person pardon list issued by Slick Willie on his departure from office,
