Back in my high school days in the eighties I knew some people that were just like Jeff Spicoli, (played by that now turned left wing loon Sean Penn) that perpetually stoned Fast Times at Ridgemont High student as did many in their schools I'm sure.
But now California teens and probably elsewhere are tokin' up courtesy of their supposed medicinal marijuana cards, using them as their passport to getting high legally as opposed to the old fashioned way, getting it from the local Spicoli's at their respective schools.

This is exactly why Medicinal Pot will not work and isn't needed, as there are way too many legal pharmaceutical ways to quell pain from most diseases and ailments and this is again just giving people an excuse to smoke dope legally.
I speak from experience as someone who has MS, would easily qualify for this card in the land of the loons, and have illegally tried pot for it's applicable medicinal value and found it's benefits to be negligible when coupled with the impaired state of mind that comes with using it. It's not as if there are not 10 other things I can and do take that are legal and more effective.
In other words it doesn't help my particular symptoms and hasn't been shown to provide much relief in MS trials anyway so I'm against it's legalization for medicinal purposes mostly because of the story below citing the abuse of the cards that inevitably takes place.
I know the arguments; it should be legal anyways, its harmless, it helps glaucoma patients which it does, we should legalize it and tax it, they're gonna buy it and smoke it anyways so why not legalize it etc etc. As we know, some good and some bad goes with just about everything we encounter in this world, but to me it's just one more problem that this crumbling society of ours just doesn't need to create for itself.
Teens at California school getting high on medical marijuana:
WBIR.COM - "SAN DIEGO -- Officials at the Grossmont Union High School District have sent letters home to parents, notifying them that a number of students have been caught on campus with medical marijuana cards."District official Catherine Martin said they are concerned over the growing trend and the "apparent ease" with which teens are able to obtain the cards.
In the letters, parents, students and faculty are reminded that even if the cards are valid, it is against the law to have marijuana on school property.read more
