A Personal Favorite Now Gone

Their sound was new to us back in the 70's with those three lead guitars, synthesizers and those unique voice harmonies belting out just like your hearing now, as sadly yesterday the lead singer Brad Delp from the supergroup Boston died unexpectedly and inexplicably as of this post this morning silencing that sound forever.

As a guitarist myself their many great songs were and are very fun to play as I still quite often do whenever I pick up one of my guitars to practice.

One pretty hard to believe tidbit I discovered while researching for this post was that Boston is not a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, which I found pretty hard to believe as I kept checking to make sure I wasn't mistaken. And while perusing some of the acts that are , I came to the conclusion that they obviously belong there just like Ron Santo belongs in the Baseball HOF and yet each remain un-inducted to their respective places of honor.

Here we had a man along with the other members of the band with some real valuable and very marketable talent, providing him and they lengthy and fulfilling musical careers and to us the resulting great music that's now forever gone, and yet he gets nary get a mention from the scandal driven, "entertainment tonight" bleeds it leads MSM crowd, not much more of a bio was given to him than what I posted below.

Not even a picture of the guy in the story from the AP wire, those who by the way are still all-consumed with the no-talent, badly used and abused Anna Nicole Smith (20m google hits) still fawning over her a month after her death.

She of coarse was a human being as well that we've lost, but hardly deserved of the attention they have been giving her sad soap opera during the past month, in fact going back to her son Daniel's sudden death, and remarkably even before that as we all now know if you didn't then.

So, may Brad Delp rest in peace and many thanks to him for his positive contributions to our lives, pop culture and Rock and Roll in the 70's and eighties, times that are looking better and better to me as we move further and further away from them.

Lead singer of the band Boston dies - Boston.com: "ATKINSON, N.H. --Brad Delp, the lead singer for the band Boston, was found dead Friday in his home in southern New Hampshire. He was 55."

Atkinson police responded to a call for help at 1:20 p.m. and found Delp dead. Lt. William Baldwin said in a news release that there was no indication of foul play.

"There was nothing disrupted in the house. He was a fairly healthy person from what we're able to ascertain," Police Chief Philip Consentino told WMUR-TV.

Delp apparently was alone at the time, Baldwin said. more
