BP: No oil leaking into Gulf from busted well - Yahoo! News: "NEW ORLEANS – Oil stopped gushing into the Gulf of Mexico from BP's busted well Thursday for the first time since the disastrous spill began, the oil giant said. It was the most significant milestone yet in BP's effort to control one of the worst environmental disasters in U.S. history.
Now begins a waiting period to see if the cap can hold the oil without blowing a new leak in the well. Engineers will monitor pressure readings incrementally for up to 48 hours before reopening the cap while they decide what to do next. The cap is only planned as a temporary fix until a final plug is set from underground, maybe next month.
The news elicited joy mixed with skepticism from Gulf Coast residents wearied by months of false starts, setbacks and failures. Alabama Gov. Bob Riley's face lit up when he heard the oil flow had stopped.
'That's great. I think a lot of prayers were answered today,' said Riley.
In Washington, President Barack Obama said the success was a 'positive sign.' But he added, 'We're still in the testing phase.'
The stoppage came 85 days, 16 hours and 25 minutes after the first report April 20 of an explosion on the BP-leased Deepwater Horizon oil rig that killed 11 workers and triggered the spill.
The proof is mounting that Obama's in control alright, in control of allowing this crisis to continue until they can extract whatever they're seeking from it's continuance since they're not interested in allowing the LA governor to make Obummer look bad as he's continued to do.
WDSU New Orleans NEW ORLEANS -- The federal government is shutting down the dredging that was being done to create protective sand berms in the Gulf of Mexico.
The berms are meant to protect the Louisiana coastline from oil. But the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Department has concerns about where the dredging is being done.
Plaquemines Parish President Billy Nungesser, who was one of the most vocal advocates of the dredging plan, has sent a letter to President Barack Obama, pleading for the work to continue.
Nungesser said the government has asked crews to move the dredging site two more miles farther off the coastline.
"Once again, our government resource agencies, which are intended to protect us, are now leaving us vulnerable to the destruction of our coastline and marshes by the impending oil," Nungesser wrote to Obama. "Furthermore, with the threat of hurricanes or tropical storms, we are being put at an increased risk for devastation to our area from the intrusion of oil.
Nungesser has asked for the dredging to continue for the next seven days, the amount of time it would take to move the dredging operations two miles and out resume work.
If this isn't proof that Obama and BP are actually in 'collusion' to allow this crisis to worsen nothing is.
Obama and his henchmen have fought the Louisiana government and Bobby Jindahl since the very beginning of this 'intentional' spill which I believe was allowed to happen to push the agenda as we've discovered along the way that BP is one Obama's 'Cap and Trade' partners BP Obama has just been putting a 'show' for the world as they allowed the blowout to happen it's become more obvious now than it's ever been during the entire 65 day, contrived crisis.
Why else has not a single recommendation sent to BP from the public at large, 80,000 submissions, not been viable nor used to 'plug the damn hole' and I don't mean Obama's pie hole or Lady Gaga's public holes either.
Because the 'powers that be' aren't interested in stopping it quickly or they would have done it. Nor do they seem to interested in mitigating the damages as we now know they don't care, they want to exploit this as an excuse to run over the voters and LA indigenous population to usher in trillions of dollars of profits in the so called 'greening of America'.
They hold many of the patents and since the 'global warming train' crashed they needed another way and quick.

I was going to write something to this effect on the BK issue after watching this Dog and Pony flogging today by the criminal Obama administration,, but found this 'Letter to the editor" that says everything I was thinking the whole time.
By now, we are all nauseous from watching oil-soaked pelicans and the well-cam for more than eight weeks. Everyone agrees that the Gulf is a disaster. Adding to the distress, we have to watch politicians trying to outdo one another expressing their outrage.
Suggestions that BP could fix this problem if it really wanted to are ridiculous. No one is more motivated to bring the situation under control than BP. Our government doesn’t have expertise in deep-water well operations. The deep-water-drilling moratorium is causing further economic damage. Politicians want to add this cost to BP’s liabilities when our government imposed the ban because its regulations and oversight are inadequate.
BP generates more than $25 billion in annual cash flow. Calls for sending BP into bankruptcy or nationalizing the assets are ill-advised. BP should be left intact in order to fund the 20-year cleanup of the Gulf.

POLITICO.com Oil giant BP has agreed to finance a $20 billion escrow fund to pay claims to people who lost income in the Gulf Coast oil spill, an administration source told POLITICO Wednesday.
Lawyer Kenneth Feinberg, who was in charge of payments to families of victims of the 9/11 attacks, will oversee the fund, the source said.
The news came as President Barack Obama finally had his showdown with top executives of BP Wednesday. The White House had announced over the weekend that it would press the company to set up a fund, which would be administered by a third party, to pay what is expected to be billions of dollars in damage claims from people and businesses up and down the Gulf Coast.
It was Obama's first face-to-face meeting with BP CEO Tony Hayward and board chairman Carl-Henric Svanberg, despite his four trips to the Gulf Coast. They met as the White House demands that BP create a third-party administered compensation fund to pay out claims filed by residents and business owners in the region.
The six BP executives arrived at the White House around 10 a.m. and were still inside after noon.
I guess this is all 'above his pay grade' as well which gave me an idea this morning.
Everyone else gets paid for results in this world, how about Obama doesn't collect his check until the people being decimated by this 'never waste a crisis" spill can collect theirs.....which Obama uncovered his 'real' motive for the world to see last night.
I have a much easier time believing this so called 'oil spill' has been allowed to drag on to move Obama's agenda and nothing more than 911 being a set up. Obama doesn't have to do anything but 'act' like he's doing something which is what he's been doing in between golf rounds.

You're gonna tell me we can't plug a pipe a mile down in the ocean? Much more oil gushing from well than thought
HOUSTON (AP) - Researchers studying the flow of oil from the blown-out well at the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico said Thursday that up to twice the amount of oil previously thought may have been spewing into the sea since an oil rig exploded nearly two months ago.
The new figures could mean anywhere from 42 million to more than 100million gallons of oil have already fouled the fragile waters,affecting people who live, work and play along the coast from Louisiana to Florida - and perhaps beyond.
It is the third - and perhaps not last - time the federal governmenthas had to increase its estimate of how much oil is gushing. Trying toclarify what has been a contentious and confusing issue, federal officials on Thursday gave a wide variety of estimates.
All of the new spill rate estimates are worse than earlier ones - andfar more costly for BP, which has seen its stock sink since the April20 explosion that killed 11 workers and triggered the spill.
Most of Thursday's estimates had more oil flowing in an hour than what officials once said was spilling in an entire day. continued
They're working away on this thing, as I've actually been watching it all night while reading and watching prime time Fox News and jamming a little bit, and I can see they're working hard on this thing pretty much constantly at least tonight they are.

I heard this earlier, that these 'rent a cleanup' crews were bused in this morning, given matching T-shirts at about $12 a hour to make it appear for Obama this has been the program from the get go, which he wouldn't know the difference anyhow, being that he's so busy raising money at $17,000 a plate dinners.
And it looks like it's been confirmed now, which should confirm some more 'nails in the coffin' of the liberal movement right along with this administration, as the 'black gold' gusher in the gulf reaches biblical portions as Obama's watching NBA playoffs taking the weekend off.

That's even conservative as the Exxon Spill was 250,000 gallons as and this one is a 'monstrous 17 million and counting' of untreated crude being dumped in the ocean, and remember they're spreading Tons and Tons of dispersant which has already made fisherman sick.

To give you an idea, the barrels needed to clean up the Obama BP spill would hold 39 million gallons of crude, which would require 780,000 50 gallon drums at 3 feet across reaching 2,340,000 ft when divided by 5280 feet per mile comes to a line of barrels which would stretch 443 miles of 50 gallon drums.
That's beyond brutal and I'm the one who figured that by the way. Not hijacked elsewhere.
Not to mention as I we said, we now have fisherman already coming in ill from this shit that they're spreading like poison that could kill the entire ocean off for all they know.
So far, BP has told federal agencies that it has applied more than 400,000 gallons of a dispersant sold under the trade name Corexit and manufactured by Nalco Co., whose current leadership includes executives from BP and Exxon.
And another 805,000 gallons of Corexit are on order, the company said, with the possibility that hundreds of thousands of more gallons may be needed if the well continues spewing oil for weeks or months. [source NY Times]
They've never used this in this quantity and the real reason they're using it is to hide the spill and hope it somehow dissipates underwater and millions of dead fish don't come washing ashore.
That's the only plan other than to clean it up as it comes ashore and we've seem what that looks like from the Valzdez.
They've already hired 20,000 employees. There's Obama's job plan for you huh? It's going to take 5 times that easily to clean this mess up as it comes to shore and if it bankrupts BP nobody gets nothing and we get stuck with the bill so lawsuit filing folks need to keep that in mind as they rightfully I might add try to do exactly that.
However BP said this and they're right: "BP is very important to the American people and it's economy".
This sure is some ugly video seeing this oil gushing out of its broken pipe crevice on the ocean floor , even for all we "right wing radicals" who supposedly don't care about the environment just because we knew all along global warming was a scam. (we were all recently vindicated by truth of the longtime scorn from the left ....once again).
Back to this situation, one would think they'd have some type of cement/epoxy glue- like compound made just for this type of occurrence sitting on a shelf somewhere or in a "break glass in emergency" box to pipe down to the hole, forcing a smaller diameter tube into the bigger hole and force the cement to fill the hole around it.
They tried a similar thing yesterday but they were talking about plugging it with golf balls and other kinds of garbage which also didn't work yesterday along with the Cement Box Idea which failed due to ice formation as the box was lowered 5000 feet down on the ocean floor.
You WOULD THINK THEY WOULD have something like that already made just for this reason waiting to be used.
Well they will have it for the next time I'm certain if there is a next time with this lunatic fringe in Washington right now.
And now this news comes today they've located oil plumes, one of them apparently up to 10 miles long.

While the BP oil geyser pumps millions of gallons of petroleum into the Gulf of Mexico, President Barack Obama and members of Congress may have to answer for the millions in campaign contributions they’ve taken from the oil and gas giant over the years.
BP and its employees have given more than $3.5 million to federal candidates over the past 20 years, with the largest chunk of their money going to Obama, according to the Center for Responsive Politics. Donations come from a mix of employees and the company’s political action committees — $2.89 million flowed to campaigns from BP-related PACs and about $638,000 came from individuals.
On top of that, the oil giant has spent millions each year on lobbying — including $15.9 million last year alone — as it has tried to influence energy policy.
During his time in the Senate and while running for president, Obama received a total of $77,051 from the oil giant and is the top recipient of BP PAC and individual money over the past 20 years, according to financial disclosure records.
