This one isn't an earthquake like we're seeing around the world this morning but instead sounds like another suicide bombing of some sort or another as 3 explosions occurred right down the street from the American consulate near the Pakistan border pictured below, which has been under constant barrage recently from the US.
Series of Explosions Rocks Northwest Pakistan - CBS News: "(CBS/AP) Three explosions rocked the largest city in northwestern Pakistan hours after a suspected suicide bomber attacked a political rally elsewhere in the troubled region.
CBS News' Sami Yousafzai reports that the initial blast was thought to have been caused by a large bomb, followed by another device, possibly a car bomb, and then a rocket or some other explosion.All of the explosions appeared to have gone off just down the road from the American consulate, possibly as close as 100 yards, Yousafzai reported, adding that gunfire was heard immediately following the blasts.Intelligence sources tell CBS News' Farhan Bokhari there is no initial indication that American consulate staff were hurt in the attacks, but they stress that the scene on the ground is still unfolding and the law enforcement presence is minimal.A large plume of white smoke was seen rising from the location, which is home to several Pakistani military buildings in addition to the American consulate.Earlier Monday, a suspected suicide bomber killed 19 people at a political rally in Lower Dir district, also in the country's beleaguered northwest.A spokesman for the Awami National Party, Zahid Khan, said members of his party were celebrating the recent decision to change the name of North West Frontier Province when the attack occurred.Pakistani state television said hundreds of people were participating in the rally in the town of Timergarah."
