The good old drunk driving days of the Kennedy's In Washington come to a sad close.
Slowly the dem coalition crumbles lib by lib....and with hearing yet another Kennedy is leaving government lets just say I'm damn glad to see both go, and for the first time in my life our government is now KENNEDY FREE.
This is great news on a number of fronts; but number one, it helps lower the deficit by lessening the load of nanny state programs being pushed through the government by the Kennedy clan, and furthermore, makes the roadways of DC and Rhode Island the safest that they've ever been since the rum runner's grandson hit town with a drunken fury, just like the old man did 50 years ago, leaving Mary Jo Koepechne at the bottom of a creek in his wake, as we know all too well.
The real reason though in all seriousness, is that without Pops banging elbows down the halls of congress, he doesn't have any clout and pull anymore, nor anyone to tell him what to do.
chicagotribune.com: "WASHINGTON (AP) — Rep. Patrick Kennedy's decision not to seek re-election will leave Washington without a Kennedy in political office for the first time in more than 60 years. The Rhode Island Democrat's term ends early next year but he says in a television message viewed by The Associated Press on Thursday that his life is 'taking a new direction' and he will not seek a ninth term. The video was provided to the AP by Kennedy's congressional office. The 42-year-old son of the late Sen. Edward Kennedy does not give a reason for the decision but says it has been a difficult few years for many people and he mentions the death in August of his father." continued
