And how state officials deal with their fiscal problems could reverberate across the United States, according to the Pew Center on the States' analysis released Wednesday.
The 10 most troubled states are: Arizona, California, Florida, Illinois, Michigan, Nevada, New Jersey, Oregon, Rhode Island and Wisconsin.
Other states -- including Colorado, Georgia, Kentucky, New York and Hawaii -- were not far behind.
The list is based on several factors, including the loss of state revenue, size of budget gaps, unemployment and foreclosure rates, poor money management practices, and state laws governing the passage of budgets.
These troubles have forced these states -- as well as many others -- to raise taxes, lay off or furlough state workers and slash services. These actions can slow down the nation's recovery, especially since these 10 states account for one-third of the country's population and economic output.
'Decisions these states make as they try to navigate the recession will play a role in how quickly the entire nation recovers,' said Susan Urahn, managing director of Pew Center on the States." continued

Wake up you liberals..... we don't have the money for a nanny state from coast to coast, and all one needs to know about that is that every state in the union that either has a sanctuary city within their borders and at least one major urban center IS BROKE......ALMOST ALL OF THEM, not one, not two, not three, but ALL OF THEM..
Including Illinois which is broke for 2 reasons, the city of Chicago itself, and it's sanctuary city policy filling the city with illegal aliens as far as the eye can see from as far away as one can see.

It doesn't take a MIT mathematician to figure out the problem with this equation, and they had better figure it out soon, unless they all wish to be a satellite state of China... and even they are getting sick of bailing all these fat assed Americans out.
The biggest problems we now face are that Obama is killing business both small and large pushing them overseas and kneecap and trade hasn't even come up yet.... and this ObamaLosi care will literally push this country straight into the worst depression it's ever seen.
And I'll tell you one thing........you and your family had better be armed to the hilt when that day comes, because the very same people who are living off the government dole meaning our near empty pocketbooks now will be at our doors to take our hard earned stuff when anarchy sweeps the nation ....Think crime is out of control now, just wait for this day to come..
It's no secret the illegals are what is bankrupting the nation along with these NANNY STATE programs that working people simply DON'T NEED and never did in this country until all those people came here....

......the only people who should be on the public dole are the disabled, the elderly, and the unemployed Temporarily.....but not forever like Obama and the dems are providing right now, extending benefits again just his week...WTF? Who's paying for this?
Not the government because it's BROKE DAMMIT..
THAT'S ALL we should be taking care of every day, but instead we have everybody and their mother hopping over the damn porous border for free health care, free food stamps, free this, free that and now guess what?
The country and the states are all bankrupt now because we have more unskilled and often diseased freeloaders pouring into the nation than hard workers....Figure it out...
