But, I don't let them act like animals and they know who runs the show around our family and it's the adults not them which in many families today is the other way around. They do however a wonderful job of acting like young adults when out in public and even in private, for 3, 5 and 8 year olds that is.
Back to the story, the other day an Atlanta woman and her child were abruptly taken off an airplane because the child, who wasn't really obnoxious and probably just excited about being on an airplane for the first or second time just wouldn't quiet down when told to, and kept repeating an at first cute but I'm sure quickly annoying little phrase that you'll read about below while the plane was taxiing to takeoff.
I blog about this story mostly because my family and me encountered a similar if not exact type incident in my first year of life as my parents flew with me at a year old back in the early sixties (when planes had propellers and were pretty scary just to be in sometimes), where during the flight we experienced apparently a terribly frightening thunder and lightening storm that according to mom and dad scared the bejesus out of me and even some of the adults on the plane.
So I, all cute & cuddly up 'til that moment to the passengers then became very obnoxious and unsettled, crying profusely like liberals of today do so often, creating a scene that embarrassed my parents on top of the situation with the weather already scaring the whole plane of people. So to quickly try and quiet me down my parents utilized an age old teething remedy with the aid of the stewardesses. This comprised of spreading a little Jack Daniels on my gums, (yes Jack Daniels), which within minutes quelled my little tirade for the remainder of the flight to I'm sure the pleasure of the fellow passengers and my of coarse my embarrassed parents. My mother jokes that after seeing me cool my jets so quickly the adults around us also utilized the same method to calm themselves down....
Now read what this whiny Mom did when faced with a similar situation
Mom says she, toddler kicked off plane
- Yahoo! News: "ATLANTA - A woman said she and her toddler son were kicked off a plane after she refused a flight attendant's request to medicate her son to get him to quiet down and stop saying 'Bye bye, plane.'"Kate Penland, of suburban Atlanta, said she and her 19-month-old son, Garren, were flying from Atlanta to Oklahoma last month on a Continental Express flight that made a stop in Houston.
As the plane was taxiing in Houston en route to Oklahoma, "he started saying 'Bye, bye plane,' Penland told WSB-TV in Atlanta. The flight attendant objected, she said.
"At the end of her speech, she leaned over the gentleman beside me and said, 'It's not funny anymore. You need to shut your baby up,'" Penland told WSB-TV in Atlanta.
When Penland asked the woman if she was joking, she said the stewardess replied, "You know, it's called baby Benadryl."
"And I said, 'Well, I'm not going to drug my child so you have a pleasant flight,'" Penland told the TV station.
Penland said other passengers began speaking up on her behalf, and the flight attendant announced they were turning around and that Penland and Garren were going to be taken off the plane. continued
Their response is called old fashioned Parenting and mothering for those unfamiliar with this activity, something that way too many women and men too (or should I say girls and boys many times) nowadays seem to know nothing about. This I know as many do not hesitate to call their pediatricians in the middle of the night for simple headaches and other common child prone illnesses, always looking for an instant 24 hour Walgreens remedy instead of a little preparation for these things and some thinking on their own until the doctors office opens the next morning. Someone else to solve their problem for them.
And quite often if you can believe this, some even call 911 for simple little issues like ripped off toenails and bee stings for their children!!
I happen to know this firsthand as I'm a 911 operator here in the Chicago suburbs on the weekend overnights and they do this night after night after night. Just this past weekend a woman called on my lines as her child was bitten by a tick and she didn't have a doctor to call as she had just moved into the area recently and didn't know how to remove it from the childs ear!
And you'd never guess that most of these callers are immigrants of the southern variety, (would ya..lol...at least here in this Chicago area) that no speak a the english too well just to make matters even more upsetting to me and many other co workers as these people waste our public emergency resources for these ignorant things. This behavior has a lot to do with my vehement opposition as you can see on this blog to these wide open borders right now,.
As I said, I interact with our ER personnel every single weekend and many of the cities and some suburban hospitals are simply out of control while the emergency rooms are used as expensive doctors offices and day care centers.
Nowadays too many parents stomp up and down just like their infant children when others like me ask or even tell them to stuff a sock in it and then in the most extreme cases they go to the police or then the media whining louder than their children, all because we don't all love their adorable cuddly little un-behaved kid like they do when it comes to their obnoxiousness in public.
Just like this woman below, who when asked to leave the plane because junior wouldn't STFU, and she then simply refused to do anything about it , spouting off some left wing talking reply like "Im not drugging my child to quiet him down" is what she said verbatim to the flight attendant who herself it seems was a little obnoxious as well, and so they did a U ey and then showed her and junior to the door.
I say Good for the airline and to the woman to get a life, learn to control the child as good parents can do, just as mine did 40 years ago when faced with the same identical situation, as are millions of other parents who are simply not as stupid and selfish as was this helpless and hapless mother. This is one who obviously needs some parenting skills and problem solving classes judging by her calling the media just because she doesn't get her way.
An example of that can found in that final paragraph where she says this to the reporter:
"I was crying, I was upset and I was thinking, 'What am I going to do? I don't have anything with me, I don't have any more diapers for the baby, no juice, no milk," Penland told WSB.
No brains either it sounds like to me, as most good mothers would have all those things with them carried on to the plane, right all you moms out there? Right!
