Beanie Babies Actually Turn Out To Be Very Useful

Who woulda' thought those worthless yet valuable little pain in the a** mini stuffed animals from the 90's would actually have some tangible and lifesaving purpose.

Soldiers have been using them as bribery babies for the little Iraqi's in exchange for IED info. The group responsible for this and these life saving care packages, Operation Gratitude was founded by a fine woman who wanted to be a soldier herself but was declined for reasons described in the story below, a one Carolyn Basheck.

And they are put together by hand by many volunteers, among them a valiant Gold Star Mom who's child was killed in Iraq who chose to take the opposite of the Cindy Sheehan nutjob "I hate America and George Bush" route, and instead is doing her forsaken son proud by helping assembling these awesome care packages to our soldiers that include a beanie baby in each.

250, 000 of these little godsends have been sent through June this year and today.

Real American hero's these fine ladies and the other volunteers involved are, and a loud round of applause is due their way by us grateful Americans. Fox does that today and we can too by going here to donate dough and or time, whatever we can do to remember freedom isn't free and folks like this pay the price for all of us..
Stuffed Animals Given To Iraqi Children in Exchange for IED Information

FOXNews.com - "Van Nuys, Calif. — Carolyn Blashek is constantly sending her gratitude to the men and women serving in the military overseas. Blashek founded Operation Gratitude after she tried to join the military, but was told she was too old. Her goal: to show people in the service that they have not been forgotten back home by sending personal care packages directly to members of the United States armed services all over the world.

The care packages include a variety of items from sunscreen to socks, candy to toothpaste. But, you may be surprised to know what the most important item is in the box: a Beanie Baby. That's right. These seemingly unsubstantial stuffed animals that were popular in the 90s, help save lives. Blashek tells me that the soldiers give the stuffed animals to the local kids in Iraq; the kids, in return, tell the soldiers the location of hidden IEDs or Improvised Explosive Devices. "
