Say what you may about France, and I say the new leader has made great strides in a short time repairing our relationship so damaged during the "JockStrap" Jaques Chirac days, they have always gratefully acknowledged and paid homage to our fine soldiers that both lived & died in the thousand on D Day while storming Normandy beach liberating their country and the rest of Europe in WWII.
They have built a new museum addition to honor to these soldiers keeping alive the sadly fading memory of that great generation that saved the world from Hitler and Mussolini's Fascism, strikingly similar to the enemy we now face today that the world surprisingly wants to ignore.
This new addition to the already awesome cemetery at Colleville sur Mer which is already a simply breathtaking memorial in it's own right will open on June 6 th 2007..

US sacrifice of D-Day honoured at new centre
"COLLEVILLE SUR MER, France, May 25, 2007 (AFP) - The sacrifice of thousands of US soldiers who died in the D-Day landings are honoured in a new visitors' centre opening Saturday at the Colleville sur Mer cemetery in northern France.
Situated on a cliff overlooking Omaha Beach, one of the landing points of the June 6, 1944 allied invasion, the centre traces the story of US soldiers who stormed the Normandy beaches to end the Nazi occupation of Europe.
'We simply wanted to tell future generations what happened here,' said Daniel Neese, director of the visitors' centre." more
