Imprisoned American citizen released by Myanmar

I'm elated to see this person liberated and on their way home apparently from the middle of Myanmar, which used to be called Burma, (a little tidbit which I only happen to know from a Seinfeld episode with Peterman and Elaine...not from my expensive college years... lolol) however this Congressman Jim Webb, while an American Vet I have to say really creeps me out for a couple different reasons, and this little out of the blue hostage exchange is quite strange to say the least, don't you all think?

I mean there was absolutely no press leading up to this nor do I ever recall hearing anything about the poor person being held hostage until yesterday morning and I must say I'm pretty much in touch with most up to the minute goings on around the world like you all are.

So back on topic, I do again welcome home with open arms the formerly imprisoned John William Yettaw, but do wind this up with one word of caution for this gentleman and that is the following..... please don't take anymore trips to hostile lands in the future if you could....why leave the greatest country in the world for even a day to visit a place like Myanmar to get this ? Just a thought......

The office of Virginia Senator Jim Webb says he's won the release of a U.S. prisoner in Myanmar and met with detained democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi. (Aug. 15)

English_Xinhua: "YANGON, Aug. 16 (Xinhua) -- American citizen John William Yettaw, who was recently sentenced by a Myanmar district court to serve seven years' rigorous imprisonment, was released and deported by the government Sunday and left the country in the afternoon along with Democrat Senator of the United States Jim Webb who concluded his three-day visit to Myanmar.

Yettaw was convicted by the court on charge of entering into Aung San Suu Kyi's restricted lake-side residence for three days in early May.

The release was secured through efforts made by Webb who met with Myanmar top leader Senior-General Than Shwe, Chairman of the State Peace and Development Council, in Nay Pyi Taw Saturday.

Webb, Chairman of the East Asian and Pacific Affairs Subcommittee of the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee, arrived in Myanmar on Friday on a three-day visit as part of his two-week tour to five Southeast Asian nations at the invitation ofMyanmar Foreign Minister U Nyan Win.

The visit came days after a Myanmar district sentenced on Aug. 11 on the 54-year-old epilepsy-suffering American Yettaw, along with Aung San Suu Kyi, to the seven years' rigorous imprisonment.

Webb's five-nation trip had taken him to Laos and he will proceed to Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia after Myanmar visit."

Slick Willie Makes a New Friend "N. Korean leader reportedly pardons U.S. journalists"

So now we negotiate with terrorists I guess.

For whatever the reasons Kim Jung Il who we can now verify is alive apparently prefers to deal with Slick than Her Royal Thighness or anyone in the Obama White House so we gotta hand it to the old' rapist as he got the people on their way home.

I'm just wondering what the ransom was that we'll be paying in one way or another be it food subsidies or whatever, you know this wasn't done for free. That's for damn sure I'd bet anything.

I just wish these liberal journalists would keep out of harms way in these war zones and the likes, they're multimillion dollar gifts that these countries and that hate us love to exploit, as we know freakin Iran is doing the same damn thing to us right now as well/

CNN.com: " North Korean President Kim Jong Il has pardoned and ordered the release of two U.S. journalists, state-run news agency KCNA said Wednesday.

The announcement came after former U.S. President Bill Clinton met with top North Korean officials in Pyongyang to appeal for the release of Laura Ling and Euna Lee, who had been arrested while reporting from the border between North Korea and China.

'Clinton expressed words of sincere apology to Kim Jong Il for the hostile acts committed by the two American journalists against the DPRK after illegally intruding into it,' the news agency reported. 'Clinton courteously conveyed to Kim Jong Il an earnest request of the U.S. government to leniently pardon them and send them back home from a humanitarian point of view."

"The meetings had candid and in-depth discussions on the pending issues between the DPRK and the U.S. in a sincere atmosphere and reached a consensus of views on seeking a negotiated settlement of them."

The report said Clinton then conveyed a message from President Obama "expressing profound thanks for this and reflecting views on ways of improving the relations between the two countries."

It added, "The measure taken to release the American journalists is a manifestation of the DPRK's humanitarian and peace-loving policy.

"The DPRK visit of Clinton and his party will contribute to deepening the understanding between the DPRK and the U.S. and building the bilateral confidence."

DPRK is the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, the nation's official name.

The two American journalists had been held in the reclusive communist nation since their arrest in March.

A statement from their families was posted Tuesday on the Web site lauraandeuna.com:

"The families of Laura Ling and Euna Lee are overjoyed by the news of their pardon. We are so grateful to our government: President Obama, Secretary Clinton and the U.S. State Department for their dedication to and hard work on behalf of American citizens. We especially want to thank President Bill Clinton for taking on such an arduous mission and Vice President Al Gore for his tireless efforts to bring Laura and Euna home." more

Officials: Taliban video shows captive US soldier

Here we go again with the soldier kidnappings that were used relentlessly against the contractors and some military captives from the Bush administration era during the Iraq war mostly, who btw was always castrated for whatever path he chose to take or state in response to those viscous acts we'll all remember forever and a day, at least this pissed off American will.

Of course we know the US stance on negotiating with hostages was essentially no talk, no tolerance in previous administrations. However, in the new and improved "We Do Everything Wrong" America which Obama has been projecting around the world, he may just offer a tea sit down to talk about what's bothering the poor "Talibanners" as I mockingly refer to these Afghani terrorists know as the Taliban and what we can do to make their caves more comfortable and the likes.

Just hope and pray while the administration sends out nasty letters and threats of neutered UN involvement, this poor, brave man doesn't meet the same fate as so many other proud and entrepreneurial American's killed at the hands of REAL TORTURE.

Killings and kidnappings mostly administered in the lawless aftermath of the initial ground invasion.

An invasion which we now know unleashed the 4 year fury of an insurgency that was obviously mis-underestimated (Bushim of coarse), yet their defeat was not made any easier, and actually encouraged by much of the unneeded partisan politics and enemy comforting dissent emanating from within our own borders, which is another story for another day we've all heard before anyways.

The kind of despicable torturous acts we've witnessed being applied to our people captured over there, such as beheadings, the actual burning of living and breathing mostly American human beings, for starters. As opposed to watered down definition which the left has redefined to encompass anything nowadays from too short of haircuts at Gitmo along with improperly catered meals, krinkled Koran pages and the likes.

Afghanistan Video:Taliban releases video of captured US soldier

That is contrary to the comparative child's play known as waterboarding the left thinks is too rough on the poor Islamic Jihader's, along with some other non lethal techniques formerly used on these killer terrorists, who were only subjected to in order to keep them from killing more innocent Americans and others just like you and I as they already demonstrated they're capable on 911 and other deadly occasions too numerous to begin to even think about counting.
Officials: Taliban video shows captive soldier
‘I’m scared,’ American missing in Afghanistan tells his captors

MSNBC The American soldier who went missing June 30 from his base in eastern Afghanistan and was later confirmed captured, appeared on a video posted Saturday to a Web site by the Taliban, two U.S. defense officials confirmed.

The soldier is shown in the 28-minute video with his head shaved and the start of a beard. He is sitting and dressed in a nondescript, gray outfit. Early in the video one of his captors holds the soldier's dog tag up to the camera. His name and ID number are clearly visible. He is shown eating at one point and sitting on a bed.
