Ford posts $2.1 billion 1Q profit, "GMdc" lags .....and the lesson is?

The only American car company who didn't need a bailout continues strong, which says much for the free market economy and that it indeed works, that's just as long as corruption doesn't become institutionalized.

Of course that includes  government corruption which can barely be kept at bay which is now so brutally corrupt,  it can't even get out of it's own way.

That 2.1b profit by the way represents half of what GM needed in their taxpayer funded BK bailout, which they just now repaid, which is a good thing seeing it rise from ashes it created by unsustainable union bennies and so on.

However, it's not this good, as Ford's NEVER EVER needed a bailout from anyone, anywhere, anytime.

It is also how jobs are created in a free market, not from the government picking winners and losers, which is what the Obama cabal has been doing since day one with their "spread the wealth" shell game, moving your wealth and mine from underneath one shell to another and yet another.

Yahoo! News: "DEARBORN, Mich. – Ford Motor Co. said Tuesday it earned $2.1 billion in the first quarter, another sign the economy is improving as people spend more on big-ticket items like cars. The automaker expects to be solidly profitable this year, a year earlier than its previous guidance.

Ford said its net income per share was 50 cents for the quarter. That's an about-face from the same period last year when it lost $1.4 billion, or 60 cents per share, at the height of the recession. It was Ford's fourth straight positive quarter and its highest quarterly profit in six years.

Ford, the only Detroit-area automaker to shun government aid and stay out of bankruptcy protection last year, gained market share from crosstown rivals General Motors Co. and Chrysler Group LLC. It also benefited from Toyota Motor Corp.'s safety recalls of millions of vehicles. Ford was one of the top brands considered by Toyota owners who were shopping for a new car, Kelley Blue Book said.

In a sign of its confidence in the economic recovery, Ford said it's boosting North American production in the second quarter to 625,000 vehicles, a 9 percent increase over first-quarter levels. The increase could mean additional hiring by Ford, but Chief Financial Officer Lewis Booth said Tuesday it's too early to say if the company will be adding workers.

'If we continue to grow, maybe we'll talk about that sometime later,' Booth said."

New York Post: "Goldman Sachs CEO Lloyd Blankfein has warned his employess to avoid making big-ticket, high-profile purchases as the gold-plated Wall Street firm hunkers down amid a firestorm of public and political anger over outsize bonus payments.

According to sources at the bank, Blankfein has Goldman in particular, should be toned down in light of the billions in bailout money that banks, including Goldman, have gotten from Uncle Sam."
A source within the bank said Blankfein first began calling for an end to the conspicuous consumption late last year, but has stepped up his campaign in recent weeks as the White House has sought to rein in compensation and as the firm has gotten dinged by a pair of high-profile magazine articles.

"This is a sensitive time for us, and [Blankfein] wants to make sure that we're not being seen living high on the hog," said one Goldman exec.

Indeed, the exec said that senior managers were ordered to tell their staffs that just because Goldman made a record second-quarter profit of $2.3 billion, they shouldn't bank on getting a fat bonus just yet. Blankfein was quoted as reminding staff that bonuses are based on full-year results, and that the year is far from over.

Blankfein's admonishing of workers about profligate spending comes as the firm has been hit with a barrage of negative press lately over its uncanny ability to make money not only in the best of times -- but also the worst.

A Rolling Stone article referred to the firm as "a great vampire squid wrapped around the face of humanity," while a recent New York magazine piece floated the idea that Goldman benefited from the rescue of troubled insurance giant American International Group.

A spokeswoman declined to comment.

Goldman's speedy recovery in the wake of the global recession and the demise of many of its rivals has drawn more outrage than awe.

Observers question everything from the bank's massive pay to its uncanny ability to serve as a incubator for Washington policymakers. Goldman alumni include former Treasury Secretaries Henry Paulson and Robert Rubin, and Jon Corzine, the current New Jersey governor and former US senator.

Goldman accepted $10 billion in rescue funds from Uncle Sam to help it stay afloat last year amid a crisis of confidence on Wall Street but quickly repaid the money thanks to record revenues.

The Goldman exec said that while Blankfein was cajoling workers to cut back on their spending to avoid negative publicity, he was also playing cheerleader.

In a company-wide voice mail left last week, the CEO assured employees that management is "focused on addressing the negative news and that [Goldman] remains committed to integrity and excellence."

"I know you're all working hard," he added.

By taking from the so called non minority to give to the so called minority eventually turns the non minority into the minority and vice-versa, why can't everyone simply fend for themselves?

This is the most dangerous path the government can travel down when taking ownership status of even a small percentage of a media outlet. Don't these people know any history at all and what happens when you give up liberty like this?, it's almost impossible to get it back once lost.

WSJ.com: "WASHINGTON --A group of minority broadcasters asked Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner Monday for financial assistance akin to the aid that has been extended to the financial and auto industries.


'Minority-owned broadcasters are close to becoming an extinct species,' the letter said. 'Even in better economic times, minority broadcasters have historically had difficulties accessing the capital markets.'


The broadcasters told Mr. Geithner they can bounce back if they are given some temporary assistance while the credit markets are slow. 'Unlike the auto business, broadcasting has been healthy for many years,' their letter said.


The broadcasters appeal follows a proposal sent in May to Mr. Geithner by a group of influential House members asking for a minority broadcaster support program, bridge funding, or government-backed loans."

Meet Another Obama Voter Up To Her Neck In Free Stuff

There's conflicting information on this woman and her story but it stems from sudden notoriety from basically being another "Help Me Obama" American like the clown we all saw the other day whining about working at McDonald's and voila some publicity seeking baseball team offers this pud a job.


Then local media started sniffing around and finds out she's basically homeless by choice having been offered a place to stay for free and then a nominal rent of $400, which she turned down seeking a better deal I guess


And now this comes out and she's getting a free home thanks to the publicity generated. What about all the other homeless people like deserving veterans and the often undeserving people homeless because they choose drugs and alcohol over a roof and food? Or the millions of other disabled people making their existence in the world on their meager disability checks who still pay rent as rough as it is, are we gonna give them houses too Der Commissar Obama? I'm all for helping the needy and I do it quite often as can be seen on my facebook page causes section, but when and where does it all end folks in the Obama free money for nothing era? UPDATE: WINK News - Southwest Florida | Local & Florida: "SOUTHWEST FLORIDA - A woman making national headlines after a tearful moment with President Obama has a new home.

Thursday morning, Chene Thompson handed Henrietta Hughes the keys to her home in Hendry County. Thompson is the wife of State Representative Nick Thompson (R-District 73). Hughes and her son will live at the home rent free.

However, a local organization is coming forward saying Hughes isn't being honest about how much help she's had in the past.

The director of We Care Outreach Ministry, Tanya Johnson, says just last month she offered Henrietta Hughes permanent housing and a place to stay free for three months, but Hughes refused.

'We would have allowed her to stay for the first 90 days, no income. You know free,' said Tanya Johnson.

We Care Outreach Ministry is a faith based organization in Fort Myers.

Johnson says she also gave Henrietta and her son Corey, money, food and offered Corey job training courses, but it was refused.

'We have extended a lot of her services to her,' Johnson said.

But Henrietta Hughes says these services weren't free and the apartment in East Fort Myers came with a price tag.

Hughes says Tanya Johnson wanted $400 a month immediately.
