FOXNews.com - Chicago Mayor Daley Opts Against Re-Election, Opens Door for Rahm: "Longtime Chicago Mayor Richard Daley announced Tuesday that he will not seek re-election, a stunning decision that apparently ends a political dynasty that dominated the city for more than a half century and paves the way for Rahm Emanuel to chase his dream job.
Emanuel, the White House chief of staff, once told Fox News that if Daley, 68, didn't seek re-election, he would likely throw his hat in the ring, raising the possibility that his days in the White House are numbered.
'That's a job I really want,' Emanuel once told Fox News' Bret Baier.
The White House had no immediate comment.
Daley was first elected mayor in 1989, following in the footsteps of his father, who died of a heart attack while still mayor in 1976 at age 74
This man Rahmbo Emmanuel mayor of Chicago? LOLOLOL. Yea right.
IF the media and lefties have their way perhaps, but my guess is some big name republicans and not local ones might take a chance with Daley gone and finally out of the picture, we can only hope and pray.
This is more likely because he and other long time dems 'see the writing on the wall', and the ones' who aren't already headed to prison are looking to bail out on their own terms, instead of being sent to the rack or the gallows by the new ruling "TEA PARTY" for all the thievery and deceit we've all caught onto in a big way, mostly thanks to FOX News, right wing talk radio, the net and we bottom of the food chain bloggers for the most part.
I surely hope in that way 'retirement' isn't the end' for this administration, while admittedly Daley did some good things, his graft is 'world renowned' in anyone's bio, although 'his graft' wasn't really to personally enrich himself but others and to make the city into what "He" thought was better.
His time to 'cash in' comes now he's hoping I bet. He's made it through without going to prison yet so he's outdone the past two Illinois governors, that's for damn sure.
And while his kids are alright seriously, (one a soldier) I'm damn glad they're not standing here in line with their hands out looking to 'move in' to the Mayor position, as Todd Stroger did in the Crook County Board when his crooked assed 'pops' croaked in office. Like perhaps Michael Madigan or Rham Emmanuel are licking their 'choppers' right now to run for this job, but neither will win.

Just take a look around the country and tell me blue state after blue state bankrupt is an accident? Don't bank on anyone believing that line of bull because it's no accident. And even the left can see it when they can't work or so on as well.
Not in this lifetime for Emmanuel is my bet, and no one really even knows who Michael Madigan is even though he for all intents and purposes runs Springfield's demo circus. And frankly, I think America and Chicago have had enough of all three men, and mostly democrats for this generation at least, God willing.
Ok you are way too fast for me!! I wonder how all of the aldermen not running ties into this-it has to somehow. I highly doubt it is just coincidence. I can't see them giving up such as cushy job for nothing especially in this economy.
ReplyDeleteI was just watching it as it happened so I figured I'd blog about him since he's had such a profound effect on our lives. I don't hate the man and I said he's done some good.
ReplyDeleteIt's just the way they've done things isn't the way to move forward. When I was a kid my grandpa used to get traffic tickets fixed for me no shit! that's how bad it used to be but it was the way things were done for the most part.
We need ethics more than anytime today because of the trillions of dollars involved.Theft wasn't as expensive back then when we didn't have illegals and so many losers in the country as we do today ya know?
If we don't have people with morality naturally they fuck up everything they touch. :(
Also here the Blago is thinking about running. LOL!
ReplyDeleteGod I don't know whats worse, a Dead Fish running the city, or a felon... :)
Did somebody get the goods on Daley? Why the sudden announcement.
ReplyDeleteI sure hope rham doesn't run, or any of daley's chronies.
ReplyDeleteIt's going to be like the warring factions in some 3rd world shithole now, all the various ethnics wanting their fixer in.
It will make for some very interesting times.
Daley has nothing left to sell or steal, Ray., that's why he's getting out now. His sick wife is a convenient excuse. She got cancer in 2002, if he cared about her, he would have quit then.
I really think he doesn't wanna get embarassed by getting beat like all the other dem incumbents. He's stayed in power because they make sure no on would run against him. Now that paradigm has changed and the people aren't standing for 'graft' anymore. He'd be gone next year if he didn't .. :)
ReplyDeleteI think he just knew the days were numbered for ALL lifers and he's one of them...Now if we get a conservative governor and perhaps a non dem mayor the world would be a better place. Bunni ;)
ReplyDeleteYa know he would do good running if he would come out with 'the goods' on the Obama cabal which HE MUST POSSESS>
ReplyDeleteI just will never believe Obama's the only Chicago politico to be not crooked.!! Never.
Emanuel will run. He will probably be elected and form a new dynasty.
ReplyDeleteIt could be worse. Michelle could run instead.
L'Shanah Tovah Tikatevu!
