Gallup finds 42% of Americans describing themselves as either very conservative or conservative. This is up slightly from the 40% seen for all of 2009 and contrasts with the 20% calling themselves liberal or very liberal.

I believe so too in landslide form even. I believe most hardcore conservatives didin't even vote which angered me and you'll find those people on Free Republic which I used to like but can be as far right some ways as DEM underground is left. THEY got Obama elected by staying home to 'punish' the GOP somehow.
