Military groups expressed gratitude toward Afghan President Hamid Karzai on his visit Thursday to Arlington National Cemetery, where he paid his respects to fallen American troops.Karzai and other VIPs walked Section 60 – what is frequently called the "saddest acre in America" – where troops killed in Afghanistan and other conflicts are laid to rest."As the mother of Sgt. Michael Carlson, who is buried in Section 60 at Arlington, I appreciate that the president of Afghanistan realizes, acknowledges and honors the sacrifice of the men and women who have died to bring peace and stability to Afghanistan," said Merrilee Carlson, a Goldstar mother and president of Military Families United."His trip demonstrates that he is aware that we are in this fight against terrorism, Al Qaeda and the Taliban forces together and that it is in the best interests of both America and the Afghani people that we continue to fight and build safety and security for them," she said in a written statement. "At the same time it is imperative that we must never forget the men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom and security."Douglas McArthur, the executive director of the National Veterans Organization of America, described Karzai's visit as "noble."
At least the man has the dignity to pay respects to all the men and women who are dying in that mountainous Poppy narco state for he and his people, but he's still a little shaky to say the least. He still threatened to join his brother on the Talibanner' wagon a couple weeks ago, which got me to thinking what the Karzai Family picnic looks like, ya know?
That image alone gets you thinking that perhaps this man will be just as elated to see these American troops leave just as much as they'll all be 'hyperthrilled' to comply with that yet to be delivered request.
Regardless he managed to do this which pleased the military folks here somewhat, which is nice. Now if we could only get American liberals to show the military the same respect we'd finally have accomplished something.
The ""Karzai Family picnic" is an excellent image, Ray. You never cease to amaze.
ReplyDeleteLet's hope and pray this presence in Afghanistan will be over soon, instead of expanding into other parts of the Middle East. I just hope "OOO" is not giving false hopes. We were suppose to be out of there by now. It's senseless for anymore soldiers to loose their lives over there.
ReplyDeleteThank you sir. I got the time and the equipment to find this stuff that most working people don't so I try to bring it here so others don't have to look for it... :)
ReplyDeleteI am all behind the soldiers no matter what the mission and it's high time for them to come home and for the global community to come together and just tell the Afghan's 'we're nuking these poppy fields since the Terrorists are using it to fund their activities and then the people will have to figure out something else to do, like perhaps move into the 19th century considering they're still living in the 18th.
