Remember that story from the Al "The Climate Whore" Gore "I Invented The Internet" collection?
It kind of went like this....
(Vanity Fair) Al Gore said he'd invented the Internet; announced that he had personally discovered Love Canal, the most infamous toxic-waste site in the country; and bragged that he and Tipper had been the sole inspiration for the golden couple in Erich Segal's best-selling novel Love Story (made into a hit movie with Ali MacGraw and Ryan O'Neal). "He also invented the dog", joked David Letterman, and "gave mankind fire".
Whether he ever said it or not is a matter for discussion, but anyhow, the man who wrote the book died Sunday it was announced today by his daughter.
TODAY: Book news: "LONDON - Erich Segal, the author of the hugely popular novel 'Love Story,' has died of a heart attack, his daughter said Tuesday. He was 72.
Francesca Segal said her father died Sunday at his home in London. She said he had suffered from Parkinson's diease — a neurological condition that affects movement — for 25 years. His funeral was held in London on Tuesday, she said." continued
