Especially when we know that in the midst of this so called crisis (which is mitigating on it's own by the way) congress voted themselves raises, have passed a three trillion dollar budget that is on top of this ridiculously unneeded and unconstitutional Porkulus, so plan I say it's high time for these lawmakers to start working for free and give back their bonuses until the government is solvent again.
And if they don't like it they can quit or they can give back the Porkulus money and now.
That sounds fair to me and they're the pansies that want everything to be equal, right? WSJ agrees with that or I agree with them this morning as Congress is laughing at American tax payers and I for am damn tired of it. Especially from this group of crooks..
Lawmakers Have Long Rewarded Their Aides With Bonuses
- WSJ.com: "WASHINGTON -- While Congress has been flaying companies for giving out bonuses while on the government dole, lawmakers have a longstanding tradition of rewarding their own employees with extra cash -- also courtesy of taxpayers.
Capitol Hill bonuses in 2008 were among the highest in years, according to LegiStorm, an organization that tracks payroll data. The average House aide earned 17% more in the fourth quarter of the year, when the bonuses were paid, than in previous quarters, according to the data. That was the highest jump in the eight years LegiStorm has compiled payroll information.
Total end-of-year bonuses paid to congressional staffers are tiny compared with the $165 million recently showered on executives of American International Group Inc., which is being propped up by billions of dollars of U.S. government subsidies. But Capitol Hill bonuses provide a notable counterpoint to the populist rhetoric and sound bites emanating from Washington these past weeks." continued
I completely agree... We need to get them. Regardless of what anyone thinks of the legacy cost of the autoworkers, the whole congress has more so called "legacy" costs than anything the UAW may have. Their pensions are completely ridiculous. We have to bring them all down.
ReplyDeleteI really mean it too, all of them over 6 years service, gone....
ReplyDeleteI agree. We desperately need term limits!
ReplyDeleteAs for Barny Frank and Chris Dodd, our ancestors would have tarred and feathered them and run them out of town on a rail! Maybe we should get back to that.
You said it Gayle as they would've done just that, and I know as a two time 8 total year resident of Charlottesville VA. and a proud University Of Virginia grad '87.
ReplyDeleteI know almost all there is to know about our founding fathers as a result of living in the shadows of Jefferson's Monticello, and being schooled in those lecture halls and libraries of his fine University, the best years of my life.
They would've certainly hung these people in Congress, every one who's signature was on that unconstitutional Porkulus package, and that includes Obama although that sadly goes unsaid that he obviously would never have been in this position in those awkward infant stages of our imperfect union....
