Many of us who grew up in the 70's will easily remember a guy who was the first self promoting marketing genius who was a born again Christian named Rollin Stewart who was also know as "Rocken Rollen" and the Rainbow man who was seemingly present at every single televised sporting event in this all too familiar get up in one variation or another:
I myself in the back of my head always wondered what his deal was and then eventually what ever became of him as he seemingly disappeared somewhere along the line and as a avid sports fan in Chicago at many Cubs Bears and Blackhawks and Bulls events with season tickets to the Hawks for a decade ending in '95 when the United Center opened with season price tags too high to manage after Michael Jordan and the Bulls once in a lifetime Championship 3 peats I was within arms length of the guy a number of times throughout those years.
Turns out I now know what happened to him after doing some quick research this morning after going to World Net Daily who has a story up about a new John 3:16 guy who was at an NCAA tourney game and rudely had his imitation John 3:16 sign ripped from his hands by some Neanderthal like Nazi security man captured in this video you tube below.

So getting back to the original Rainbow man he apparently is currently serving 3 consecutive life sentences in a US prison for a potpourri of deadly serious crimes in 1992, mostly stemming from a bizarre standoff in an LA Hotel when he and two others entered a vacant motel room with "Rocken Rollen" himself cornering and then kidnapping a chambermaid after she locked herself in the bathroom upon the intruders' unannounced and surprising entry to the room.
Apparently, he was under the impression that the "Rapture was to arrive in 6 days" and so seemingly thinking the end was near he also threatened to start shooting at landing and taking off airliners within proximity of the LA Airport motel in which the standoff took place.
So now back to our original programming, the story of the new John 3:16 seen in the above you tube can be read here at World Net Daily and and Rollen's story can be seen and heard here in this bio for a DVD made of him and his strange tale here...
As for the quote itself.:
John 3:16 is considered to be among the most well-known verses from the Bible.
It states: "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
The verse has appeared in various forms at nationally televised sporting events over the years as I explained up above...
