Couple things pertaining to the Fargo Flooding or as I call it Cracker Katrina is that they've established a home page with some flood info and a water level thermometer that's kind of interesting. This video I've embedded for two reasons
(1) it's quite a shock to see this strange ice flow flood that is much worse than it looks from above because most of this water is really below ice and snow so the extent of the damage will obviously not be visible until some melting takes place.
(2) it shows that this flooding as is expanse as anything seen during Katrina and yet the reaction by officials and residents is like black and white pun intended which I cover in detail in a post from yesterday
The Fargo Flood Homepage (Red River of the North): "NOTE: The Fargo Flood Homepage provides access to scientific (i.e. geologic and hydrologic) and historic information on flooding in the Fargo region. For public service announcements regarding current flooding,"
Red River retreats, but Fargo remains vigilant:
My Way News - "FARGO, N.D. (AP) - As the Red River slowly receded Sunday, Fargo was keeping a close eye on the many miles of sandbag levees that are the main line of defense against a potentially destructive flood that has had the city on edge for more than a week.
Residents who spent the better part of the week filling sandbags and building up dikes turned their attention to forming neighborhood patrols and monitoring levees for breaches. Fargo still fears that water could burst past the levees and submerge parts of the city." continued
