One caveat is that supposedly they have to get permission from the deceased soldier's families before publishing such photos and video's, as if these lowlifes will pay a smit of attention to that rule about as much as they do every other rule and law in society right down to their breaking the laws of God and nature.
Hopefully at least some of the families will be able to make some good and easy coin suing the liberal scum that breaks those rules and regs as they are certain to do.
Official: Pentagon allows coverage of war coffins
CNN.com: "WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The Pentagon will lift its ban on media coverage of the flag-draped coffins of war victims arriving at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware, Defense Secretary Robert Gates said Thursday."
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The Pentagon will lift its ban on media coverage of the flag-draped coffins of war victims arriving at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware, Defense Secretary Robert Gates said Thursday.
Military vehicles carry coffins containing U.S. troops in this photo the Pentagon released in 2005.
But the families of the victims will have the final say on whether to allow the coverage, he said.
President Obama asked Gates to review the policy, and Gates said he decided after consulting with the armed services and groups representing military families to apply the same policy that is used at Arlington National Cemetery. continued
So meanwhile this is what the families of Families United who represent a large majority of the soldier's families have told the Pentagon and government in this regard and this is what I posted about the issue again weeks ago anticipating this bs ruling.
The only way I would ever be for this is if the soldiers are required to sign an affidavit saying their likenesses if even in caskets are reproduced by any news organization the family is to be compensated in cash by the end user with a very generous donation by such user to the decedents direct next of kin or a beneficiary they could name in this form.
You could bet their zeal to show these photo's would diminish greatly if such a policy were in place.
MAJORITY OF MILITARY FAMILIES DO NOT APPROVE OF OVERTURNING BAN ON PHOTOS OF FLAG-DRAPED CASKETS AT DOVER
Families United: "Washington, DC – February 18, 2009 –Gold Star military families from across America flooded the office of Families United to voice their opinions on the recently announced review that could lead to overturning the 18-year ban on publishing photos of flag-draped transfer cases at Dover Air Force base. The overwhelming number of responses stemmed from an Action Alert distributed via email Friday by Families United for Our Troops and Their Mission asking family members of fallen heroes to voice their opinion on the current debate on lifting the ban.
Families United for Our Troops and Their Mission represents over 60,000 military families, including Blue and Gold Star Families and veterans. According to the respondents:• 64% believe that the policy should not be changed;• 21% feel if the ban is overturned then the families of the fallen should determine if the media is allowed access on a case by case basis;• 12% of the responses indicated a desire to overturn the policy and allow all flag-draped caskets to be photographed.
“We at Families United are not advocating overturning the current ban, but if the Obama Administration is demanding a change...." continued
