More like George Costanza in Seinfeld's Jerry's pilot episode "The Watch"'.
That is how dumb the Obama people think most Americans are, and unfortunately they are right about little over half of the population who bought the bait and switch in November and again today. Here's the breakdown where this thing stands today, straight from the "sucker born every minute handbook":
Senate Set to Vote Next Week on Stimulus After Accord on Cuts
Bloomberg.com: U.S.: "Feb. 7 (Bloomberg) -- The U.S. Senate is slated to vote early next week on an economic stimulus package totaling at least $780 billion that President Barack Obama said is needed to prevent the economy from sinking into a deeper recession.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, a Nevada Democrat, scheduled a key procedural vote for 5:30 p.m. Washington time on Feb. 9 after a dispute over the measure’s size was resolved yesterday. If the procedural hurdle is cleared, Reid said a vote on the bill would take place on Feb. 10.
If it passes, lawmakers will attempt to reconcile the Senate bill with an $819 billion stimulus bill the House approved last month. Democratic congressional leaders are pushing to deliver a final bill to Obama by the end of next week." continued
Here's a statement from one of the few Americans left in Congress who basically says the same thing I did and will continue to say, this stimulus will forever be known as the "Rape Of America" if passed next week, and as Joe Biden says correctly in this article quoted below, the price will be steep for the overreaching democrats.
“But when we do [approve it], I’m sure you’re going to be nailed in ads, ‘Well they voted on that’ 30 second ads,”
Your darn right they will and so will you Scranton Joe.. the backlash will make 1994 look like a Obama tea for two.
That quote is just another gem from the Communist Party Conference going on down in Colonial Williamsburg Virginia the past few days of all places to pile on top of Obama's Scare Sermon From The Hood the other day.
Inhofe Statement on Stimulus Compromise
United States Senator James Inhofe : Press Room: "WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. Senator James Inhofe (R-Okla.), issued the following statement tonight after the announcement of a compromise on the Senate stimulus bill.
'While I appreciate the efforts of my colleagues to bring down the price tag of this bill, the fact is we still face a trillion dollar spending bill. Making it worse, the bill is 93% spending and only 7% stimulation. Over the past few days I have fought to include more in the way of real stimulus through higher percentage of infrastructure and defense spending, while working to cut much of the typical government waste often found in a bill of this size. Yet Democrats have blocked these efforts.
'The good news tonight is that the American people are catching on to the fact that this is the largest spending bill in history and are becoming more and more vocal in their opposition. My offices in Oklahoma and Washington DC have been flooded with emails, phone calls and faxes overwhelmingly opposed to this trillion dollar legislation. They can rest assured that my vote remains an unwavering ‘no.''"
Simply ignoring the will of the people in their usual "nanny state knows best" fashion.
Pelosi dismisses bipartisanship calls -
Glenn Thrush and Patrick O'Connor - Politico.com: "n a statement sure to rile Republicans, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi Friday dismissed calls for bipartisanship as “process” arguments extraneous to passing a stimulus bill — and warned Senate Democrats against slashing proposed increases to education spending.
Pelosi — speaking to reporters on the second day of her retreat with House Democrats at a swank Williamsburg, Va., golf resort — was clearly annoyed with Senate attempts to slash up to $100 billion in spending from the $819 billion package the House passed last week.
At the same time, she urged the need for speed in passing the package — and stopped short of saying that she’d insist on her demands during upcoming conference negotiations with the Senate.
“Washington seems consumed in the process argument of bipartisanship, when the rest of the country says they need this bill,” the California Democrat said, seeming to sweep aside the Obama administration initial desire to have broad GOP"
The rest of the country says they need this bill? What country is that you battle axe? Not this one the last time I checked the Rasmussen poll out yesterday:
Rasmussen poll: Support for stimulus bill continues to drop
| KansasCity.com Prime Buzz: "Rasmussen poll: Support for stimulus bill continues to drop
Support for the economic recovery plan working its way through Congress has fallen again this week. For the first time, a plurality of voters nationwide oppose the $800-billion-plus plan.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that 37% favor the legislation, 43% are opposed, and 20% are not sure."
