We here are all for our gallant troops getting all the protection and equipment needed at all costs to make sure they all survive their deployments as possible, but I'm quite certain that many will argue that any more protective equipment they are force to lug around will most likely become a hindrance to safety as opposed to an acceptable risk.
These new demands being put upon military brass and policy makers are coming from the left and this argument somewhat proves that they really don't give damn about anything but proving their points and politicizing the military by making any conservative and republican look bad, truth and reality be damned..
This body armor issue is a classic example of liberals in Washington and elsewhere dictating to others and in this case the US military and it's unmatched members from privates through colonels what's best for them.
And int his particular case they will never quit whining and crying until some poor soldier on foot duty in Iraq or elsewhere drops dead from exhaustion from having to carry 300 lbs of excess body armor because MoveOn.Org and a bunch of Netroot Nuts think this is best to protect them in continuation of their real goal which started out being humiliating George Bush and the Pentagon for terribly miscalculating the need for soldiers needed body armor as the war dragged on.
We know however the shortages arose because Bush and the Top Military Brass had no idea the liberals and MSM of this country were hell bent on aiding and abetting the insurgents and our enemies during the war as they have, and still continue to do despite the fact that victory is just a heartbeat away. Particularly now that Obama is in office they wanna make sure they wind this thing down so the great Pharaoh Obama can assume full credit for the victory that George Bush provided with every dime of political capital he ever had as president freeing 50 million ungrateful Muslims from tyranny.

Better body armor means more weight for troops
My Way News - "WASHINGTON (AP) - Concerned that U.S. troops are already saddled with too much heavy gear, military officials will not require them to wear improved body armor until manufacturers cut the weight of the new protective plates.
The Army plans to buy 120,000 sets of the advanced bullet-blocking plates this year. This initial purchase of the plates, known as 'XSAPI,' will be stocked in Kuwait and be available if commanders need them, service officials said at a congressional hearing Wednesday.
The quality of small numbers of the current plates, called 'ESAPI,' was questioned last week in an audit by the Defense Department inspector general's office. The audit said the ESAPI plates from one body armor manufacturer - Armor Works of Chandler, Ariz. - were tested improperly and may not provide troops adequate protection. continued
