All were intentional obstacles to freeing Iraq and it's citizens from the grips of that bearded tyrant and partners in allowing him and the UN to rob the world and the Iraqi people blind in the process.
These newly mended relations brought to the table immediately by a very bold new leader in Europe , Nicholas Sarkozy, is a welcome change of directions and real turning point in the conflict as the surge has brought some real stability to Iraq, and will help to finally get more of the international community behind the remaining effort sadly a day late and a dollar short as we say but still appreciated.
Coming now as Bush and Iraqi officials hopefully start bringing this war to a long awaited and hard fought victorious ending by the end of next summer, just in time for the elections and history books to prove his and Tony Blair along with John Howard and some others so called folly was actually a very worthwhile endeavor, freeing millions of Muslims from decades of tyranny that didn't go quite as planned, similar to almost every other war in mankind's long history of warfare.
Welcoming Mr. Sarkozy and his country France back to the fold of reality minus Chirac is really nice to see.
