WorldNetDaily: 220 years ago today: "Today is Constitution Day. How will you celebrate? How will you mark the occasion? On Sept. 17, 1787, the Constitutional Convention, meeting in Philadelphia for four months, agreed on the final draft of this special, inspired document and submitted to the several states for ratification. That was 220 years ago.
It was ratified June 21, 1788, when New Hampshire approved it as the ninth state. Congress, acting under the Articles of Confederation, declared the Constitution the law of the land March 4, 1789. By general assent and resolution of the Congress, Sept. 17 has been designated as Constitution Day ever since – designated, but not necessarily acknowledged or observed. In the 21st century, we celebrate many holidays in America – Independence Day, presidential birthdays, Veterans Day, Memorial Day. Yet, no one even acknowledges Constitution Day anymore. That's tragic." continued
Yes it is, especially since we now celebrate all kinds of days like Martin Luther King Day which is fine among others. For instance we have a kind of local Illinois holiday here called Casmir Pulaski Day where kids are off of school. Now who the hell was he your asking yourself? Well he was actually a revolutionary war era soldier of Polish descent who died a war hero at the siege of Savannah in 1779.
That's great and all, as this is obviously an honor bestowed to pay homage to Polish American history, just like Columbus day in a way for Italians and others, but when did Constitution day become a day of nothing is what bothers me and others including WND's Joseph Farah obviously.
This holiday today, isn't even marked on the printed calendars in my office and others I looked at, but is noted on the internet "days in history" included at the top of this blog and what brought it to my attention admittedly. Removal of these holidays from the calendars removes them from the consciousness and minds which is all part of whats wrong with America today, all about individuals instead of the things that made the country what it was and no longer is in these short 230 years.
The video's below are both Constitution Day related, the First contains Colin Powell with some history and the 1st half of it is pretty good, the second half devoted to each state and the date it entered the Union and kind of elementary you could say but accurate and a good refresher.

The second is a flash timeline of history that is livelier than the first and kinda long by todays attention spans (6 minutes or so), so the new America history begins around the 2:40 mark on this one. Both are worth a quick look in my opinion and Happy Constitution Day .
