Can Anyone Be Trusted Anymore In The Bling Bling Sports Era?

Baseball players cheating the fans and themselves along with the record books like never before for obscene salaries, players and managers betting against their own teams, NFL quarterbacks slaughtering animals for betting and their offseason weekend fun.

What's the world coming to when an NBA ref cannot even fix a few games without the world getting in a huff?

I am of coarse being completely facetious and am thoroughly dismayed at the present condition of most all professional sports, particularly professional basketball as it is really taken a monumental downward turn in it's embracing of the Rapping Bling Bling Thug culture and this scandal will begin to sink this ship very deep if not for good in my opinion.

When referee's and players begin to get caught altering the outcome of games, the damage is just too great as the integrity of the sport will forever be questioned just about every time the players and officials touch the floor, and you can bet this is not what this league needs at this time, pun intended.

I'm certainly not naive enough to think this is the first and only accusation of this type or that many have not gotten away with these activities in the past in probably all sports. Thankfully as far I'm concerned, in today's 24 hour "eyes on everything, big brother like environment, getting away with criminal activity in all walks of life is getting harder and harder, a very good thing in my eyes.

I gave upon the NBA post Michael Jordan, and it will be a cold day in **** before I ever return as a fan, particularly now that a ref is accused of fixing games. This is something I'm sure will spread to other officials and even some players before this is over, you mark my word.

Everyone's innocent until proven guilty of coarse, but if the FBI is announcing this you can rest assured there's fire where this smoke is coming from. This btw would be the first time an official and organized crime are implicated in professional sports game manipulation by the way. FBI probes allegations that NBA ref bet on games -

ESPN - NBA: "NEW YORK -- The FBI is investigating allegations that veteran NBA referee Tim Donaghy bet on basketball games over the past two seasons, including ones in which he officiated.

Defense attorney John Lauro confirmed Donaghy is under investigation but refused to comment on the allegations or the case. According to a law enforcement official, authorities are examining whether the referee made calls to affect the point spread in games on which he or associates had wagered.
