The legendary (as verified by their membership in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame) rock and roll band The Police , are on a new world tour this year as most know, as they have reformed after years of separation to give it another shot, and of coarse I'm sure to reap the rewards that will come with success out there again.
I have always been a fan of the band, particularly during their heydays during the late 70's and 80's, my prime teenage years. I saw them twice then and am considering seeing them this time around although I understand they need a little bit of polishing and dusting up after these years according to their own drummer, which I'm sure they'll take care of in short order.
My favorite song of theirs then and now was the well known staple Roxanne which most kids today may mostly know as the song being sung by Eddie Murphy in the jail cell during the opening moments of the movie 48 hours. It was a very funny scene back then as the song was at it's peak popularity during that '82 film and luckily for Sting and The Police will be forever heard again and again due to cable television and the constant replay of the movie.
Their new police cd has been out for a little while now and I have downloaded the tunes to my ipod and comp Itunes playlist which I play through often while practicing my own guitar as a 25 year player/musician myself.
I have a 50's through late 80's jam list of 280 songs that I play through sometimes for friends and elsewhere when I practice, that list contains Roxanne, Can't Stand Losing You, Spirits in the Material World, among some other less popular but still good tunes.
You can buy the police cd here, or you can go to their website and listen to some tracks for free to see if you wish to then purchase it, as you can do on I Tunes as well (little chunks of them at least)
