I will however quietly keep one ear to the scores and standings for now, but for the most part I'm taking a break this year from the boys of summer. At least as long as the Cubs and White Sox are in the cellars of their respective divisions, which they will be after today's season opening losses this afternoon. (lol)
Color me a prophet as I hit that nail right on the head! Better yet, just call me a seasoned veteran of Chicago sports and the mostly year after year tradition compelled me to say what I said yesterday is below:
From The Northsiders in Cincinnati
For 3rd year in row, Zambrano struggles on Opening Day
''It's not how you start, it's how you finish,'' the Cubs ace said after Adam Dunn and the Cincinnati Reds rapped him in a 5-1 Opening Day loss at Great American Ball Park. More
And from the South Side Team in Cleveland
Indians' early assault against Contreras digs a deep hole
The White Sox waltzed into Opening Day 2007, discounting a major-league-worst 6.61 spring-training ERA as thin air, high sky, the desert. In other words, it was all Arizona's fault.
But after starting pitcher Jose Contreras failed to get out of the second inning Monday in a 12-5 throttling at the hands of the Cleveland Indians, it was time to take a glimpse in the mirror. more
I'm just glad I chose to spend the afternoon doing more productive things than watching the same old same old from our glorious Chicago baseball teams. Of coarse it's only opening day your saying. I've seen about 25 of these and in all those years only one Champsionship.
Like I said, same old same old. Maybe next year..... lol
