The below excerpt is taken from an article written before the game by a locally known sports critic who for the most part I and many others dislike except this editorial talks about Brian Urlacher and an interview he gave to Sports Illustrated before the game that implies he was expecting a win.
As such he takes some backhands to the beloved '85 Bears and how this city will not let them go, discussing how he is sick of it personally.
Time to retire Supersized shadow:
CHICAGO SUN-TIMES "MIAMI -- Though not as poetic as Carl Sandburg, Brian Urlacher has it right about Chicago's most influential social force the last 20 years. He recognizes that the 1985 Bears are almighty -- ''they run s--- in that town,'' as he puts it -- and, rather shockingly, also suggests members of that rollicking, iconic team would root against these Bears in Super Bowl XLI.
''That's all anybody ever wants to talk about, what happened in '85,'' Urlacher told Sports Illustrated in a story furiously making the rounds as kickoff nears. ''We want our own identity, and now we're in the process of getting it. Oh, they HATE this right now. They're putting food-poison in our room service.''" more here
After the loss yesterday he is gonna wish he could get these words back and many other similar critiques he utters in the remainder of the interview I'm afraid.
Well Brian, guess what? After yesterdays performance, most 42 year old retreads like myself will remember this '06 team forever as well, and how much for the most part, yourself included on the one day it mattered the most (439+ yards of offense allowed) pretty much sucked all around with the exception of the PlaceKicker Robbie Gould and Devin Hester .
And that 85 Bears team will still be remembered for turning in one of the best seasons and story books endings then and now that has ever happen in team sports, particularly in this well worn sports city.
So as I said, don't fear as you all are cemented in history too.....as the so-so team that made it through a so-so NFC and went to the Super Bowl and lost to a team that was pretty damn good but not great who played crappy themselves all day. It's a good thing they did because that scoreboard could've & should've looked more like this;

COLTS 46 Bears 10,
kinda looks familiar doesn't it?
instead of this
I saved all the links leading up to the game so I am gonna save the best ones about the loss as well like a good sport giving Indianapolis a Hat Tip for pulling out a game I personally blew a couple car payments on hoping the Bears would buck the odds makers hoping for the big payout, and I lost as did the Bears.kinda looks familiar doesn't it?
instead of this
