That game as all Bear fans will remember resulted in a monumental 46-10 Bears thrashing of the Patriots, in an action packed game that had just about everything and anything a Bears fan could've wanted with the exception of just one thing. That being a touchdown that was not scored by the one and only late great Walter Payton. In my vivid memories of that once in a lifetime experience for Chicagoans that was just about the only sad thing I can recollect about that entire dream season.
Even if this years' team wins today and goes on to play and then win the Super Bowl, in the view of many it just doesnt compare to that year for some inexplicable reason. In my opinion it seems to be lacking that absolute dominance that the Bears exuded that year over the entire league minus of coarse the one loss in Miami on Monday Night Football that would be the only blemish on an otherwise perfect season.
In addition that team had many nationally known stars as it's members as opposed to the basically unknown for the most part outside of Chicago team this year.
It has been a wonderful year in any event and we will all have our fingers crossed here today in hopes for a Chicago victory and a trip to the Super Bowl than many of us here had thought would never happen again in our lifetimes at least. Rest assured there are many as well who just do not give a darn either way, I however am not one of them.
Kickoff at 2:11 pm Chicago time January 21st 2007.
