A Chicago Embarrassment Comes To An End

Earlier in the month there was a big brouhaha over the fact that an Annual Christmas Festival called "Christkindlmarket," taking place here in Chicago (which I have visited in previous years but not this one), in the well known Daley Plaza was banned from displaying ads for the movie Nativity Story you may recall.

Well it seems on the eve of Christmas eve this stupidity has come to a halt as WorldNetDaily is reporting before the Chicago Papers mind you, that the movie trailer / display has indeed been restored although not within the actual confines of the plaza itself. Read the whole story below.

Nativity' ad restored to Christmas festival
Trailer for movie had been banned from Chicago's 'Christkindlmarket'

A trailer promoting the Christmas movie "The Nativity Story" by New Line Cinema has been restored to a festival at Chicago's Daly Plaza, even though it's not within the perimeter of the German-American Chamber of Commerce's "Christkindlmarket," officials have confirmed to WND.

As WND reported earlier, the issue erupted when word came that a request to show promotions of the Christmas movie at the Christmas holiday event had been denied. Bennie Currie, a spokesman for the Chicago Building Commission which controls the downtown Chicago facility said that original decision was made by officials for the Christkindlmarket, and market spokesman Ray Lotter declined to comment to WND on the issue.

The result, however, was that the promotion of a movie about the original Christmas story was not being allowed at a market named after the "Christ child." story continues
I don't know about you, but Christmas is my personal favorite as holiday's go for all the same reasons as everyone elses I suppose; celebrating the birth of our lord, being with our family and friends, exited and happy children, plus it gives most folks a damn good reason to be extra kind to one another for a month or two.

Unfortunately this holiday can also bring out the very worst in many individuals, running the gamut from ACLU and Athiest religion hater types, downright grinches and of coarse the obligatory christmas thieves who apparently cannot wait to get to their spot in hell judging by their behavior during this time, like this special couple from Indiana for instance in today's Chicago Tribune:

Ind. couple nabbed for stealing Christmas presents

Chicago Tribune Dec. 24th: This year's big Christmas present was so important to 5-year-old Lily that her family bought it twice. It was stolen once, police and her family believe.

Lily's gift was one of thousands stolen in recent weeks from the front porches of homes near the Indiana- and Illinois border by an East Chicago couple, police said. Marcus McCoy, 30, and his girlfriend, Tanya White, 37, followed delivery trucks and stole presents left on front porches while residents were away, police said.

Police raided the couple's East Chicago home Friday and found thousands of toys, stereos and other gifts stolen from porches, said Cook County Assistant State's Attorney Atty. Nick D'Angelo.

A television camera panned across the pile Friday and lingered on one gift with a card that read "To Lily, Merry Christmas! From Grandma Mary and Aunt Renee."

"There was no doubt that was from her Grandma Mary and Aunt Renee," Lily's mother, Connie Matvig, said Saturday. But this Biggest Littlest Pet Shop--wrapped in red paper with a golden bow--is now locked up in the Lake County sheriff's evidence room in Indiana. So Lily's parents hit the shops again.

"She was so fixated on the Biggest Littlest Pet Shop, we had to make sure that it happened this year," said Lily's mother, Connie Matvig.

Matvig bought and wrapped another little pet shop and wrapped again and hopes Lily will be none the wiser on Christmas morning.
Ho Ho Ho...... what a couple of friggin' losers. Sadly they aren't the only ones out there, so hopefully you and yours will not encounter such individuals during your Christmas celebrations this weekend or anytime for that matter.
