Sadly it seems to be going mostly unnoticed as this year Monday Night Football has left the decades old home of ABC for the less traveled pastures of ESPN. In this case it was a terrible shame as what I witnessed while watching this game was a city reborn in all it's glory relegated to cable sports viewers as opposed to a truly national audience that it deserved.
Funny in a sick way that the MSM and the left wingers so eager to out the Superdome and the city on the front pages perpetually using all the tragedy and misery that eminated from that symbol of Right Wing George Bush Opression as long as it was bad news all day every day.
But what I and hopefully you as well saw was a city and it's crown jewel brought back to life, after no doubt some serious missteps and brutal tragedy, to it's old glory in a remarkable showing of civic pride and old fashioned American resiliancy for all the world to see.
Sadly, the Bush hating America bashing media outside of New Orleans forgot to send out the invitations for what should have been a national celebration. After all, they sure seemed to bask in the glory of watching the city disintegrate as long as the Katrina failures could be hung around the neck of George Bush.
As we know, good news for America if led by George Bush is bad news for Democrats and their forever pathetically failed leadership in it's quest to render these United States impotent in the eyes of the world just to prove their failed buffet of hate they are selling no one is buying, not anymore. New Orleans residents are slowly figuring that out. More than just the football team won yesterday.
NOLA.com: Back to the Dome: "After Katrina, the Superdome stood as a symbol of all that went wrong a year ago. Now it stands ready to serve as a symbol of rebirth. "National Football League Commissioner Paul Tagliabue issued a clear and concise edict to state officials in October: If you're going to rebuild the Superdome, don't make it the same old Dome for the same old Saints.
Make it different.
Make it better.
few weeks later, future NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell called back with an addendum: Make it happen by September.Nine months, thousands of man-hours and $144 million later, mission impossible is accomplished -- just in time for the Saints' first home game since Hurricane Katrina.
Other than the concrete-and-steel superstructure, the refurbished Superdome that will debut to a worldwide audience on Monday night looks nothing like the battered building that almost imploded a year ago in the harrowing days after Katrina.
Three-quarters of the way through a multiphase renovation that will top out at $185 million, the Superdome is higher-tech, more fan-friendly and noticeably brighter than before. The stadium has undergone an unprecedented restoration that includes more than $30 million in upgrades.
The Dome has been "greatly improved, not just repaired," said Doug Thornton, the regional vice president of SMG, the company that manages the building, and the man credited with saving the Dome and perhaps the Saints as well. read more
