An Explanation Why Waterboarding Isn't Torture.

FrontPage mag :: The Case for Waterboarding by Vasko Kohlmayer: "Discussing his recent compromise with the White House on detention and interrogation of captured terrorists, John McCain said on the Today show that ‘there will be no such thing as waterboarding…You will never see that again. We stood up and said that cannot be done.’

It is not easy to grasp the thinking of senator McCain and others who seek to ban this practice in the light of its immense value in our fight against terror. Take, for instance, the case of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed captured in Pakistan in March of 2003. One of the masterminds of 9/11 and al-Qaeda’s operational leader at the time, he possessed a wide-ranging knowledge of the network’s plans, logistics and personnel. Unwilling to share it voluntarily, he was subjected to forced interrogation.

As resilient as he was and defiant, he held out until the interrogators decided to proceed with waterboarding. Two and a half minutes into the procedure, a broken Mohammed begged for relief. Stunned and shaken, his extensive confession amounted to nothing less than a treasure trove of priceless intelligence."Blogger categories: war on terror read more
That's a good enough explanation and reason forutilizing it to me. Another way I might explain it is this: Short and simple, if you are not caught in Afghanistan, Iraq or some other war zone during wartime carrying around a rocket launcher with a turban on, as most of the combatants in Guantanamo were and still are, you would have nothing to worry about.

However if you do happen to be one of the above described individuals and you then decide to take your half assed jihad to the strongest military in the world during war time, your god-damn lucky to even be alive and thankful to be waterboarded in the first place. If it were up to me I would prefer these medieval animals were just shot on site in the war theatre on the battlefield, no questions asked. Then we simply wouldn't have to worry about how we treat them at Guantanamo and we can just let Allah sort 'em out. Case closed.

These self described "holy warriors" didn't sign the geneva conventions which don't apply to unidentified armies or combatants anyway, which they absolutely are. In addition to that, their idea of war involves hiding behind women and children, beheading the ally citizens, contract workers & soldiers, burn and then drag them through the streets, you know the drill I'm sure, they are virtually never released unharmed or alive.

So either let our soldiers cut loose and fight these people with everything they have, short of turning the whole middle east to glass I say, at least don't nuke em just yet. After the next 9-11 all bets are off.
