When I saw the picture accompanying this story I was reading on Fox News's website Sunday night I was honestly watching American Chopper at the time, and this thing was natural.
And while there's nothing funny about what's going on in Afghanistan these Taliban riding around on beat to shit dirtbikes is almost comical as we had better ones when we were kids in the 70's.
Especially when then compared to the deadly fighting machine they're up against in the form of the US military, yet they remind us with their junkyard 'enduros' we haven't been able to eradicate them a helluva lot easier than we have.
We know wiping them out is like killing cockroaches in the third world anyhow from Russia's experience, but to not fight 'all out', which we are NOT doing (I don't mean the soldiers but what they're allowed to do) is just old and wrong. We all know this could be over by morning.
Meaning again we have the same problem over and over in that perhaps if our soldiers could ever fight the damn wars their way for once and all, they would all end yesterday. That's when you have to begin to think the politics aren't in it to win it. I'm not stupid and buy everything they sell, but you like to think they're doing the 'right' things once in a while.
It's exactly like the medical and pharmaceutical industries and so called 'incurable' diseases. If they and Dr's 'cure them' they can't make the money treating us. The incentive lies with keeping us chronically ill, that's what 'pays the bills'. Report: Iran Paying Taliban to Kill U.S. Troops: "KABUL -- At least five Iranian companies in Afghanistan's capital are using their offices covertly to finance Taliban militants in provinces near Kabul, according to an investigation by London's Sunday Times.
Afghan intelligence and Taliban sources have told the newspaper that the firms, set up in the past six months, provide cash for a network of district Taliban treasurers to pay battlefield expenses and bonuses for killing the enemy and destroying their vehicles.
The Iranian companies win contracts to supply materials and logistics to Afghans involved in reconstruction. The money often comes in the form of aid from foreign donors.
Profits are transferred through poorly regulated Afghan banks — including Kabul Bank, which is partly owned by President Hamid Karzai’s brother Mahmood — to Tehran and Dubai.
From these countries, the money returns to Afghanistan through the informal Islamic banking system known as hawala to be dispersed to the Taliban.
And I have no problem believing this is going on there since Iran's had their practice fighting a proxy war against us through Iraq and Hamas elsewhere doing their bidding in the Palestinian headache with almost no severe repercussions whatsoever. In fact they've even been rewarded for their belligerence by being allowed to 'Nuke Up".

Christopher 'C.J.' Boyd, 22, a 2006 graduate of Palatine High School, became the second suburban native this week to die in Helmand Province, Afghanistan. Boyd and the other Marine, Kevin E. Oratowski of Wheaton, were based at Camp Pendleton, Calif.
Boyd, who lived in California with his wife and twin boys, was killed by a roadside bomb while on foot patrol in combat against enemy forces Thursday, according to the Marines. Palatine High School's Pirates flag was lowered to half-staff Friday afternoon. Boyd's parents left their Palatine home Friday for Dover Air Force Base in Delaware to claim their son's body.
Boyd was a rifleman assigned to 2nd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force. First Lt. Ken Kunze, a Marines spokesman at Camp Pendleton, said it was Boyd's first combat deployment.
Kunze said the losses are difficult for the commanders in Afghanistan.
Here's the second Marine and he's from Glenbard South which is also in the immediate area so it's been a tough week around the are for Illinois soldiers and again we pray for they, their families and loved ones. Especially while their 'comrades in arms' in Iraq are finally being sent home victorious as we talked about the other day here.

Both these men here are from townships nearby the one I presently live in here in the Northwest Chicago suburbs, and the first man went to a high school which about 15 years ago my backyard actually 'butted up to' in Palatine Il., naturally named Palatine High School.
I btw went to Hersey high here in Arlington Heights in district 214 graduating 83, while Palatine High is in district 211, which is in a rival township and district for you folks not in the Chicago area, and both are great school systems in all realms be it athletically or scholastically, anyone from here will tell you.
However, Glenbard South High is in the south suburbs in a town called Glenn Elyn in Glenbard district 87, although it too is also a great school district, none of which are to be confused with the failing Chicago Public Schools in the city 'proper' which have been decimated my minorities and illegals in most sections south and west in the city over the past 3 decades under liberal rule.
Both late Marines were lost in the past couple days, and we pray both men rest in peace, with prayers going out to their grieving families and friends, right along with all the other soldiers fighting in Afghanistan who are now sadly under the command of Slumdog Obama and have been for almost 2 years now.
For that alone I and hundreds of millions weep for them all daily, praying for their safe return sooner than later alive and in once piece.

David Petraeus, it has been made clear that troops are allowed to request airstrikes and artillery strikes against insurgents hiding in dilapidated buildings or other abandoned structures. Commanders conducting the review said they found some junior commanders had misinterpreted the rules to mean they weren't allowed to fire on such places.

A military source close to Gen. David Petraeus told Fox News that one of the first things the general will do when he takes over in Afghanistan is to modify the rules of engagement to make it easier for U.S. troops to engage in combat with the enemy, though a Petraeus spokesman pushed back on the claim.

The spectacle of using U.S. taxpayer dollars to buy Russian military products is proving a difficult sell in Congress.
As it damn well should.
The U.S. government is snapping up Russian-made helicopters to form the core of Afghanistan's fledgling air force, a strategy that is drawing flak from members of Congress who want to force the Afghans to fly American choppers instead.
In a turnabout from the Cold War, when the CIA gave Stinger missiles to Afghan rebels to shoot down Soviet helicopters, the Pentagon has spent $648 million to buy or refurbish 31 Russian Mi-17 transport helicopters for the Afghan National Army Air Corps.
The Defense Department is seeking to buy 10 more of the Mi-17s next year, and had planned to buy dozens more over the next decade.
The spectacle of using U.S. taxpayer dollars to buy Russian military products is proving a difficult sell in Congress. Some legislators say that the Pentagon never considered alternatives to the Mi-17, an aircraft it purchased for use in Iraq and Pakistan, and that a lack of competition has enabled Russian defense contractors to gouge on prices.
"The Mi-17 program either has uncoordinated oversight or simply none at all," said Sen. Richard C. Shelby (R-Ala.), who along with Sen. Christopher J. Dodd (D-Conn.) has pushed the Pentagon to reconsider its purchase plans. "The results have led to massive waste, cost overruns, schedule delays, safety concerns and major delivery problems."
U.S. and Afghan military officials who favor the Mi-17, which was designed for use in Afghanistan, acknowledge that it might seem odd for the Pentagon to invest in Russian military products. But they said that changing helicopter models would throw a wrench into the effort to train Afghan pilots, none of whom can fly U.S.-built choppers.
"If people come and fly in Afghanistan with the Mi-17, they will understand why that aircraft is so important to the future for Afghanistan," said Brig. Gen. Michael R. Boera, the U.S. Air Force general in charge of rebuilding the Afghan air corps. "We've got to get beyond the fact that it's Russian. . . . It works well in Afghanistan."
