Giving people the best defense and 'all that shit' is fine and dandy.....but 26 freaking years later?
What's to keep life's losers (who can't make life work for them kill someone they can't stand like a boss perhaps) just so they can go live comfortably on death row for 20 or so years while they can 'get a free college education, free meals, exercise, lodging,cable, all the gay sex they can handle which is no worse than a Motel 6 on saturday night or Barney Franks' house for that matter.?
Basically, nothing.
And many do it and do it intentionally. Scum comes from around the world to commit their crimes in America because the prison system has become a joke known to the globe's lowlifes.
Now 26 years later they're finally dragging this SOB Killer to a firing squad, which he picked himself and STILL the damn doogooder's are fighting for his life.
So naturally after 26 years laying around doing the described above' activities, now he decides life in prison isn't so bad so now he wants to continue to live. Who the FU((( Wouldn't?
That alone say volumes about the process, which, like everything else in America is downside up.
I say, "rot in hell mother)(*^&%".

(CNN) -- Hours away from his scheduled execution by firing squad, Utah death row inmate Ronnie Lee Gardner has asked Gov. Gary Herbert for a temporary stay, according to the state Department of Corrections.
The three-page letter was delivered to Herbert shortly before 10 a.m., the department said in a statement on its website. It was signed by Gardner's attorneys and asks the governor to "issue a respite or reprieve pursuant to your executive power under the Utah Constitution."
The request is under review, according to the statement.
In addition, the U.S. Supreme Court is expected to rule Thursday on Gardner's appeal for a last-minute stay of execution.
