From what I read and hear the bid is looked at as a positive thing it seems the farther you live from the city, which of coarse would be literally paralyzed for most of that summer regardless of promises made by Daley and his cronies. But for those people in the direct line of fire they're position is the money is better spent on their individual neighborhoods and interests and they don't want to suffer the disruption while the city is taken over by people from around the world for three months. Who can blame them?
My position on this is why not get behind the effort to bring the Olympics to the city, it would certainly elevate the second city to first rate status around the world helping shed the perpetual "Chicago Bang Bang" image it has in most Eurotrash cities and countries as well as Russia still today from the 1930's and 40's and the Al Capone era.
So if Obama's miserably pathetic popularity among these people and countries can be exploited for that benefit, then fine, use it while you can, because this hero worship shelf life will end by fall when Obama's fiscal policy decimates small business and the economy like never seen before, and his popularity will sink to Bush hatred levels at that point, rendering him useless here or abroad for anything favorable and the world will then realize they were all had by the MSM just like his supporters here in the states.
One final thought is that at the rate the country is presently headed towards socialism, with no real leader left in the world to beat back the Islamic threat facing us and Europe, we may all be forced to pray to Mecca by that time if Obama remains president for much longer.

Any president would have an interest in helping an American city win an Olympic bid. But none has been as closely associated with an Olympic proposal as Obama, and the emerging effort by the White House is unusually pointed in its attempt to wrap the campaign around the president and his appealing image abroad — a strategy veteran Olympics watchers say is paying dividends and could result in an enormous hometown farewell party if Obama wins a second term.
“Without Obama in the White House, I would say there would be no chance whatsoever for the U.S. winning,” said Canadian IOC member Dick Pound. “The United States is the only country in this race that has had an absolutely extraordinary transformational experience with the election of Obama, which weighs very heavily in its favor.”
While the initiative is not formally directed by the West Wing, it relies heavily on Obama associates and confidants to raise private capital and seeks to parlay the international goodwill surrounding his election into a victory for Chicago...more
