As a musician myself I have respect for most musicians and their particular musical styles except for rap music, even the Grateful Dead's contributions musically to the history of Rock and Roll. But I really wear down on worn out Woodstock era hippies hitting the road for some more drug habit money and to fill up their bank accounts after 10 years away from the music world. This one's all at the expense of the Obama supporting type suckers constantly trying to relive their Haight Ashbury, Woodstock haydays of yore, and also for newcome tie die wannabe's who's parents are from the above mentioned 60's crowd, and are encouraging their children to follow their staggered footsteps to go and and to stock up on some good drugs for Mommy and Mommy or Daddy and Daddy along for themselves to give a try no doubt.
The band has changed the name out of "respect" for it's former leader, the former recovering Marijuana and alcohol addict who's no longer with us, the late great Jerry Garcia pictured above in 1981. I myself was witness to a couple dead head events during that time in the late 70's and early eighties, and truth be told they were and are nothing more than traveling city to city drug circuses & festivals. I all likelihood most all the people who would attend such a 60's revival today are still likely in that same drug induced haze which they were then, as they traveled from town to town with the band embellishing each city's ER wards with visitors and trippers along with flooding local yokels with plenty of psychedelic party favors and good weed long after they moved to their next venue.
Well here they are, the new and improved "Dead" Formerly the Grateful Dead and new addition to the elderly rocker revival that sure as hell beats working or collecting social security for a living these rockers are figuring out, as they gladly put their old divisive issues, their mourning lost members and such aside for a few months to roll in the easy dough. Only in America baby.
The Dead To Tour In ‘09
Hidden Track » : "Sources confirm that the surviving members of the Grateful Dead — guitarist Bob Weir, bassist Phil Lesh, and drummers Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann — are planning to tour in April and May of 2009. There’s no word yet on the band’s configuration — previous configurations of “The Dead” and The Other Ones have included singer-guitar hero Warren Haynes, guitar ace Jimmy Herring, singer-guitarist Susan Tedeschi, singer Joan Osborne, keyboardists Jeff Chimenti and Rob Baracco, as well as guitarists Mark Karan and Steve Kimock.
Also in the works, likely for October 13, is a second Deadheads For Obama concert, planned for the swing state of Pennsylvania."The first Deadheads for Obama concert took place at the Warfield in San Francisco — with Weir, Hart, Lesh, drummer John Molo, keyboardist Steve Molitz, guitarist Larry Campbell, pedal steel player Barry Sless, singer-guitarist Jackie Greene, and Karan — on the eve of the California Democratic primary.
The Dead allied with Obama after Lesh’s son began volunteering for Obama’s campaign.
“This is the real deal,” Lesh said of Obama then. Report by Richard B. Simon
