Lord knows what the quality of today's schoolwork even looks like except of coarse those good parents out there who pay close attention to their children's homework assignments which many don't have time for, and probably just as many hardly care from the looks of the state of today's primary and secondary schools in the country in many cities and suburbs. .
And it's no wonder when a school of all places congratulates it's recent 7th grade spelling bee winner with a sign in front of the school that looked like this if you can believe it...
It was done by a student, but you would think and hope 7th grader could spell those simple words, and that a teacher would be present, it's a school after all, to check the thing before it became a national joke. Here's more....
No spellcheck on school sign |
CharlotteObserver.com: "Seventh-grader Michael Smith got a good laugh when he arrived at Carmel Middle School this morning and saw the school sign congratulating him on his spelling bee performance the day before.
The twist? His first name was misspelled – and “congratulations” looked odd, too, though it appears to be a case of scrunched signboard letters rather than mangled spelling.
His dad, Joe Smith, was amused enough to snap a photo and e-mail it to the Observer: “Just thought this was funny for them to honor a spelling bee winner with incorrect spelling! My son just laughed!”
Michael had won the school's bee earlier; on Monday he placed third in a competition involving several schools, his dad says.
A student posted the original message, which was corrected after the misspelled name was pointed out, said CMS spokeswoman Kathleen Johansen."
