What a thrill it was as a dumb kid walking on the Boardwalk and seeing Baltic Avenue and all the board game real life spots along with the huge piers and such, the best times of my life were spent there without a doubt.
Now Coney Island joins the other two in razing the memories and amusements of old and innocence for the fakery of the future and big bucks today by closing the doors forever on the Old Coney Island of TV, movie, literary fame. Not to mention the long gone, terribly missed slices of 20th century Americana that'll go with it, all in return for more Arab Terrorist appeasement, illegal immigration celebrations, Nintendo, IPods and Obamanitis, which is nearly the worst symptom of this new found American pathological urge to become like every other PC and rotting away third world shi*hole around the globe.
If that doesn't make you sad not much will, as we wave "so long" to old America while watching what made it unique and great get tossed for plasticity, fakery and the next ridiculous pet rock fads of the moment.
Thanks but no thanks I say, as I'll take the days of old any day and twice on Sundays over where this country's liberal nuts are tugging it at the moment, their embracing of Socialism and leaders the likes of Hillary Clinton and Muslim born Barack Hussein Obama a mere 7 years after 9-11, while ridiculing and disparaging the patriots like current president with balls of steel George W. Bush, or lifetime servant and old fashioned American war heroes like John McCain .
Can anyone say hell in a handbasket? I knew you could.
First the damn Muslims take the Twin Towers and surrounding structures from us and especially New Yorkers on 9-11, don't even mention New York and New Jerseys pc and greedy politicians who have barely moved on the Freedom Folly, instead of simply rebuilding the damn things girder for girder with all the necessary 21st century improvements, thereby sticking two huge and well deserved 1300 foot middle fingers right back at Mecca and Islam.
So instead we now must say farewell on America's terms at least this time to another "Only in America Gem" of good days gone by..Coney Island, and those good old dayswe so fondly think of are likely gone forever each day more and more.
This is a artists rendering from 2007 of the New Coney Island district and surrounding area, but there are many doubts this will actually be what is created, and after the freedom fiasco I alluded to above who could blame New Yorkers for thinking that way? Not I said the wise man.

Watch Report
Last year, the city announced a redevelopment plan for 47 acres of the shabby old Brooklyn seafront, which includes the 3-acre parcel that Astroland sits on.Carol Albert -- whose family has owned the rides by the Brooklyn boardwalk for almost a half century -- said Thursday that she told employees she's permanently closing the park after Sunday.
For years, the future of the outer space-themed park built in 1962 has been the focus of bickering among Thor Equities, which owns 11 acres of the seaside property, ride operators and city officials, with the Albert family threatening previously to shut it down.In a statement released last week, Albert said she gave up on negotiating a two-year lease with developer Thor Equities after they missed a Thursday deadline to reply."
I have given up on trying to get Thor to negotiate which I have attempted to do every month since June, and numerous times in August. Each time their response was, 'We have no answer,' she said. "The safety of our customers and our commitment to employees means our time has run out. Ride parts must be ordered a minimum of eight to 10 months in advance.
My employees cannot live in a state of limbo any longer. It takes six months to pack up a three-acre amusement park that has been in operation for 46 years, so a January 31st deadline means start packing yesterday. We are out of time." Astroland closes and more here
