We all know what a clusterf*** Katrina's aftermath was as far as the governmental response went, mostly due to the local officials incompetence led by Chocolate City Mayor Nagin and his waterlogged Navy in conjunction with Ditzy Governor Blanco refusing to turn the reigns over to the FDederal Officials soon enough to make a difference.
George Bush, Mike Brown and a few others took the brunt of the misguided and unfair blame for that circus as we also know, so this time around the adults took over early and often led by George Bush, Micheal Chertoff, rising star Governor Bobby Jindahl and even Ray Nagin handled the crisis flawlessly and proved that when the liberals get the f*** out of the way good things happen and the proof is in the pudding.
Even liberal Bush haters and Katrina veterans Geraldo Rivera and as I call him "Shemp" or Shepard Smith from Fox News had to admit as much today and that was a pleasure to see.
If only the lunatic fringe could have been neutralized on the Iraq war like they were during this crisis the soldiers would have been home in 2003, months after George Bush's Mission Accomplished abortion took place. But history will show that their childish meddling and treasonous support for the enemy only prolonged the war aiding and abetting the insurgency right through the surge.
Hats off to President Bush, John McCain and the thousands of others for stepping up in a big way handling this situation just like we knew they could and would again if the pretenders and partisans would just get the hell out of the way and everyone work together to get things accomplished for the common good.
OOPS, wrong hurricane Pic....sorry
By the way, here's an interesting link from a liberal professor blasting all the folks like myself that had a few laughs at the "Nawlins Looter"'s expense to lighten the mood after the detestation of Katrina lent itself to many more opportunists like "Lootie" himself. read that bleeding heart commentary here if you wish.
There are lots of interesting photo's of the day in this Slideshow: Hurricane Gustav
Bush: cooperation for Gustav better than Katrina:My Way News - "AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - President Bush said Monday that coordination among states and the federal government in response to Hurricane Gustav has been better than during Katrina, which devastated the Gulf Coast in 2005 and tattered his administration's reputation for handling crises. At an emergency operations center in Austin, Texas, Bush said the federal government's job is to assist states affected by the storm. He said he wants to ensure that assets are in place to handle the storm, and preparations are being made to help the Gulf Coast recover.'To that end, I feel good,' Bush said. 'The coordination on this storm is a lot better than during Katrina.'He lauded Gulf Coast residents who heeded warnings to evacuate, saying he knows it's hard for citizens to 'pull up stakes.'""'This storm has yet to pass,' Bush said. 'It's a serious event.'
Bush had planned to address the Republican National Convention, but he headed instead to Austin, about 400 miles west of where the storm struck the Louisiana coast. He received an hourlong briefing aboard Air Force One and planned to learn more about the storm at a command center in San Antonio.
David Paulison, director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, told reporters on the plane that there has been 'unprecedented cooperation' among federal agencies and the private sector. 'What it allows us to do is share information of what's going on so we don't end up with what happened in Katrina, with different agencies doing things and others not knowing what's happening,' he said.
