In case your not a fan, a situation where all the fans, pundits and experts claimed Manning, a media favorite Messiah like QB (sounds familiar to McCain supporters, the libs, the media and their Barack Hussein fixation disorder..) could simply walk on the field Sunday night like Moses on water to deliver a stellar performance regardless of any circumstances.
The ridiculous thing about that assumption to me is that he had no pre season play this year due to an injury, still all thought in Vegas and elsewhere Manning and the Colts would just show up and administer an old fashioned smackdown to the "lowly" Chicago Bears with barely a wave of his little finger... (sounds familiar again, with the media anointing Obama the presidential winner)
So myself being a gambler by nature and a supporter of the underdog in most cases, I decided to plunkdown some dough at Sportsbook.com in favor of the Bears which I do from time to time, and this is what I picked the team to do.
This is by the way the same thing I picked John McCain and Sarah Palin to do in November 4 months ago in spite of the Media sandbagging and condescension towards the conservative nation of supporters McCain possesses. That being TO WIN and WIN BIG.
SO Far I'm 2 for 3 lets say.
With the Bears being the Bears, I hedged my longshot by picking the Colts winning with the line on the game of 7-10, which would still make my money back plus 100 extra should the Bears self implode as they did during the preseason, but I had confidence in the team. If neither scenario panned out I would alternatively be out $100.
Here's a little composite by me of the game unfolding, starting at halftime ....
The Bears have manhandled the Colts led by Peyton Manning who is returning to the field after no preseason activity due to injury so far and things are actually l ooking good so far for me and the Bears.
The Score is Bears 15, Colts 6, Neither number is a winner for me yet, but a Bears field goal and the score further unchanged would be a winning combination, but I know that ain't happening so we'll have to wait and see how it goes in the 3rd and 4th quarter.
The Bears came out in the third quarter nearly encountering a safety on the opening kickoff bungled by return sensation Devan Hester, then went three and out to punt and the punter Maynard delivered a beauty driving the Colts deep in their own territory
A bit later Rookie Running Back Matt Forte clears the hundred yard hurdle with three minutes left in the 3rd quarter and ended up with 123 yards total, the first Chicago Bear to ever accomplish this during their NFL pro regular season debut.
That my friends is saying something with a alumni boasting the late great Walter Payton at the top of the heap rest his soul, followed by Gale Sayers, Red Grange, Matt Suhey, Brian Piccolo, Neal Anderson and many others.
So I'm skipping ahead and here's the fourth quarter updates from the Bears official Blog: starting with around 20 minutes, 10 game minutes left to play
9:59 PM - The Bears defense made another huge play early in the fourth quarter as Lance Briggs and Adewale Ogunleye dropped Dominic Rhodes for a two-yard loss on fourth-and-1 at the 50. Who cares about the preseason, huh? The Bears defense is playing extremely well to this point.
10:11 PM - The Bears have already rushed for 156 yards, which is 20 more yards than they compiled on the ground in any game last season.
10:04 PM - The Bears extended their lead to 29-13 on Jason McKie's 1-yard TD plunge on second-and-goal with 8:56 remaining in the fourth quarter. The TD came two plays after Kyle Orton lofted a 26-yard pass to tight end Desmond Clark on third-and-one to the Indianapolis 1-yard line. Clark and fellow tight end Greg Olsen have delivered some huge catches tonight.
The Bears ran down the last 4 minutes of the game running the ball and smacking around Manning on his last two possessions leading to this final score:
FINAL ....Bears Win 29-13, and I'm thankfully $900 richer..... excellent :)
This makes $2200 in wins over a two week span I have won at Sportsbook as I also wagered $300 on Sarah Palin to win the VP nomination over 4 months ago, grossing $1200, which puts to shame all the bullshit coming the left and the media that she was a last minute choice and nowhere on the list of VP picks, total Bulllshit.
I also flipped the two buddies of mine with me watching the game at my home $150 each, so my take is $600, not bad for a nights fun and the Bears are Unexpectedly On Top Tonight Handing the Colts some revenge for their Super Bowl Victory 2 years ago, thanks to the sloppy play of one Rex Grossman that night and many others who is now permanently on the Bears bench in deference to new star Kyle Orton at least for the night .
Another Bears standout among others this evening was rookie running back Matt Forte mentioned during the blogging, and after a disappointing pre season going 0-3 the Bears looked totally impressive tonight in their shocking and fruitful win making me one happy man, blogger and dedicated lifelong Bears fan ... wrap up video
